It's unintentionally laughable when cable news hosts like Rachel Maddow break in to announce that MSNBC will not be airing any of Donald Trump's post-arraignment speech live because "there's a cost to us as a news organization of knowingly broadcasting untrue things."These pompous announcements aren't simply about what's true and what's false. They are about how the media elites run our democracy by telling us what happenings we're all supposed to be talking about

Water levels fell so low in key reservoirs during the depth of California's drought that boat docks sat on dry, cracked land and cars drove into the center of what should have been Folsom Lake.
But those scenes are no more after a series of powerful storms dumped record amounts of rain and snow across California, replenishing reservoirs and bringing an end — mostly — to the state's three-year drought.
Now, 12 of California's 17 major reservoirs are filled above their historical averages for the start of spring.

Readers might remember ex-GOP Senator Roy Blunt of Missouri. His parting gift to the nation was to completely knee-cap the incoming Republican-controlled House as he voted to approve President Joe Biden’s $1.7 trillion omnibus bill last December.
Well, Blunt is back and is providing all Americans with a perfect case study of how The Swamp works. After not seeking re-election in 2022, he is now joining a lobbying firm connected to his former chief of staff and his own son. On Wednesday, Husch Blackwell Strategies announced that Blunt joined the team

It is too easy to get caught up in the political moment and conclude that the glass is half-empty. From a perspective extending across years and decades, profound transitions are currently occurring that provide hope. Coming months and years will undoubtedly be chaotic, but eventually and inexorably, America will emerge far stronger. There are many silver linings in the gathering stormclouds.
In 2016, two outsiders engineered hostile takeover attempts of the two establishment parties chosen as their vessels: Sanders and Trump. They represented a revolt of debt slaves against oligarchic masters. Sanders (who never registered as a Democrat and only caucuses with them)

Former special assistant district attorney Mark Pomerantz, who led the investigation into former President Donald Trump’s finances, was subpoenaed early Thursday by Republican Rep. Jim Jordan. Pomerantz resigned from the Manhattan district attorney’s office in protest after the district attorney hesitated in pursuing Trump’s case.
However, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has criticized the move by Republicans as an attempt to undermine an active investigation and an ongoing New York criminal case. Bragg tweeted that “Repeated efforts to weaken state and local law enforcement actions are an abuse of power and will not deter us from our duty to uphold the law.”

Just one week after a transgender mass shooter killed six people at a Christian school in Nashville, Tennessee, another male-to-female transgender person had a mass shooting plot foiled by police in Colorado Springs.
100 Percent Fed Up – The shooter, 19-year-old William Whitworth, laid out extensive plans to plant bombs at and shoot students at Timberview Middle School in Colorado Springs. (Photo) Whitworth mapped out a floor plan of Timberview Middle School and expressed violent intent towards his sister, causing her to call the police, who arrested Whitworth shortly after.
Police asked him if he had a motive for the heinous act that he was planning,

ABC, CBS and NBC took a stand on a potential scandal involving tens of millions in reportedly stolen money and former President Barack Obama’s 2012 campaign: We won’t report on this.
Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio testified on April 3 that Jho Low —a Malaysian financier tied to the Communist Chinese Party— plotted a scheme to funnel between $20-$30 million to Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign, according to the New York Post April 3. Low, a close friend of DiCaprio and now fugitive, allegedly recruited 90s rapper Prakazrel “Pras” Michel to “funnel the money to Obama’s reelection bid

Law enforcement agencies had at least 40 undercover FBI informants participating in surveillance work among defendants during the January 6 Capitol Hill protests. Roger Roots, the lawyer for defendant American Proud Boys member Dominic Pezzola, filed a motion to reveal all undercover informants related to the January 6 case.
According to the filed document, several undercover law enforcement officers were at the Capitol that day, with at least 40 undercover informants or agents walking among them, which Roots claims were instigating trouble.

The Trump indictment has encouraged local attorneys to find ways to use their prosecutorial power to investigate the Biden family business for wrongdoing, House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) said Wednesday.
“I had two calls yesterday, one from a county attorney in Kentucky and one from a county attorney in Tennessee,” Comer told Fox News. “They were Republican, obviously, both states are heavily Republican. They want to know if there are ways they can go after the Bidens now.”

The disastrous Afghanistan evacuation that led to the death of 13 U.S. service members and hundreds of civilians was Donald Trump's fault - and the scenes of Afghans falling from planes and the Taliban shooting people in the streets wasn't chaotic, the White House said Thursday.
National Security Council spokesman John Kirby defended the Biden administration's actions in Kabul during the disastrous withdrawal in August 2021, after releasing a report detailing the reasons why they think it unfolded.
Kirby said the administration was 'proud' of how U.S. forces carried out the withdrawal,
