The Securities and Exchange Commission is considering a softening of planned rules requiring companies to disclose the effects of extreme weather and other costs related to global warming when the regulator completes its climate-change proposals, people close to the agency said. The Wall Street regulator is looking again at the financial reporting aspect of the climate-disclosure plan it issued last year, following pushback from investors, companies and lawmakers, the people said. The final version of the SEC rules, expected this year, will likely still mandate some climate disclosures in financial statements, according to the people close to the agency. But the commission is weighing making the requirements less

Gary Gensler is a major AH. He wouldn't have his job if Trump were president! And Larry the Fink has FU money, so he doesn't care if investors pull their money from his fund.

Yes, next they should have every company give a monthly "Projected damages due to unicorns harming your products and production lines." Lunatics at SEC. There is no significant "climate change"....and what tiny, tiny bits we see vary up and down over multiple decaded far less than seasonal changes which are totally part of normal operations. This is fantasyland.

Fox News chief political analyst Brit Hume said Monday on FNC’s “Special Report” that the Biden administration is shooting down everything after letting a Chinese spy balloon cross America before shooting it down. Discussing the three objects shot down over the weekend, Hume said, “Certainly, there has been a change in the administration’s policy or practice here after letting that first balloon as it turned out to drift all the way across the continental United States. They shot that one down. Now it seems they’re shooting everything down that they can see. And the interest interesting question what are we shooting down? We shot these things down.

Tampa, Fla. — A number of bills, including legislation on college athletic compensation, immigration response, and expanded powers for the Florida Statewide Prosecutor’s Office are on their way to Gov. Ron DeSantis’ desk to sign following last week’s special session. The Florida Senate also approved a plan to have the state take over control of what’s currently the Reedy Creek Improvement District. The move has been seen as an effort to punish the company due to its criticism of Florida’s the Parental Rights in Education law, which restricts discussion of sexual orientation and gender identity in public schools.

The unidentified flying object shot down in Canadian airspace on Saturday appeared to be a "small, metallic balloon with a tethered payload below it," according to a Pentagon memo sent to lawmakers on Monday and obtained by CNN. The memo offers the first official details of one of the three objects shot down in recent days that was previously described as a "cylindrical object." The object crossed near "US sensitive sites" before it was shot down, the memo said. Defense officials also wrote in the memo to lawmakers that the object shot down over Lake Huron, in Michigan on Sunday, "subsequently slowly descended" into the water after impact.

Multiple people were reported injured at Michigan State University after shootings at two locations were reported on the East Lansing campus Monday night, university police said. Students were urged to "secure in place" as officials searched for a suspect. "Run, Hide, Fight," an alert sent to students about 8:30 p.m. said. "Run means evacuate away from danger if you can do so safely, Hide means to secure-in-place, and Fight means protect yourself if no other option." University police tweeted that shots had been fired near Berkey Hall and that anyone in the area should shelter in place.

Let’s start with the balloon whose story is the most clear, i.e. the Chinese spy balloon that flew over the US this month. That balloon was shot down over the ocean off the coast of South Carolina. You may have seen photos of portions of the balloon being pulled into a boat. These images were taken last week. Today the DOD released even more photos of the ongoing recovery effort. All of this material appears to be part of the skin of the balloon which was a couple hundred feet across. But the bigger news is that we’ve now recovered a major piece of the payload

National Security Council spokesman John Kirby on Monday dismissed concerns that a string of unidentified airborne objects shot down by the U.S. in recent days are related to aliens or extraterrestrial activity. “I don’t think the American people need to worry about aliens with respect to these craft,” Kirby said during a press briefing on Monday. “I don’t think there’s any more that needs to be said there.” Kirby’s comments come one day after a top U.S. general said he hadn’t ruled anything out when asked specifically about the possibility of aliens as it relates to three objects shot down over the weekend.

The U.S. on Monday issued a top-level advisory telling American citizens to leave Russia immediately and cease travel to the country as Russia’s war against neighboring Ukraine continues, citing risks of harassment and wrongful detention for Americans specifically. “Do not travel to Russia due to the unpredictable consequences of the unprovoked full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian military forces, the potential for harassment and the singling out of U.S. citizens for detention by Russian government security officials, the arbitrary enforcement of local law, limited flights into and out of Russia, the Embassy’s limited ability to assist U.S. citizens in Russia, and the possibility of terrorism,”

President Biden has fired the Architect of the Capitol, Brett Blanton, on Monday, a White House official told The Hill, following outrage over an inspector general report that found Blanton misused a government vehicle and allegedly impersonated a law enforcement officer. “After doing our due diligence, the Architect of Capitol was terminated at the President’s direction,” the official said. The president’s move comes hours after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) called for Blanton to step down or be removed Biden. Last week, news broke that American Thinker and other conservative internet sites were the subjects of a successful campaign to defund them by telling advertisers that their content was misleading. That’s bad. What’s worse is that we’re learning that the State Department was helping fund the campaign to defund conservative media. The Washington Examiner revealed in a two-part report (here and here) how various organizations claimed to track “disinformation.” That “disinformation,” of course, was anything that countered the Democrat narrative on politics and social issues. American Thinker was among the list of 39 conservative sites that also included Newsbusters, Town Hall, Rush Limbaugh, Daily Wire, Breitbart, etc.

EXCLUSIVE — Microsoft has removed negative flags for conservative media outlets that have blocked them from reaping key advertising dollars amid the corporation launching an internal review and suspending its subscription to a "disinformation" tracking group's blacklist used to "defund" disfavored speech, according to internal data obtained by the Washington Examiner. The Microsoft-owned Xandr, a major advertising company, previously abided by a secret blacklist of conservative news compiled by the Global Disinformation Index, a British organization with two affiliated U.S. nonprofit groups. Now, as Microsoft appears to be taking steps to distance itself from GDI , the company has, for the time being, deleted flags such as "false/misleading" and "reprehensible/offensive"

The ESG movement promotes an investment discipline which emphasizes not just financial returns, but also grades companies on things such as their ethics, board diversity, political donations, and sustainability efforts. Speaking during a press conference in Naples on Monday, DeSantis defined ESG as a “mechanism to inject political ideology into investment decisions, corporate governance, and really just the everyday economy.” As part of the proposed legislation DeSantis unveiled was a plan to codify into statute

The former President has blasted Rihanna for the 'worst halftime show in Super Bowl history' after she already insulted 'far more than half our nation' by spray painting 'f*** Donald Trump' on a car.  Rihanna, with her baby bump beaming out of her red ensemble, stormed the stage in Arizona before the Chiefs became Super Bowl champions on Sunday night.  She gave the millions of viewers a sultry performance - however her racy dancing and risqué lyrics were perhaps too much for some family-friendly fans. Donald Trump - who has butted heads with the Barbadian singer multiple times in the past - clearly was not impressed

Rep. In the name of “equity,” the Biden administration and state Democrats have declared war on the suburbs: The Biden administration and Democrats in New York, Connecticut and other states are fighting local zoning laws in order to build high-rise apartment buildings with “affordable” units in tree-lined, single-family neighborhoods. All in the name of equity, meaning everyone can live in a tranquil suburb, whether they’ve earned the money to pay for it or not. The Biden administration announced Jan. 19 that it will require all towns across the U.S. to submit “Equity Plans” showing how they will make it possible for low-income people to live there

You can tell that the progs who have monopolized late night comedy are scared out of their wits by the triumph of Gutfeld!, the Fox News competitor that has grabbed ratings leadership, despite a visibly smaller production budget and distribution lacking free broadcast TV stations. When it was announced that a promo video for the show would air during the Super Bowl, heads figuratively exploded. They know that exposing the show to the gigantic Super Bowl audience, many of whom had never heard of it, would inevitably drive sampling, and that some of the new viewers would stay with the show, further driving down their ratings.

Alright, maybe I was too quick to dismiss the possibility of aliens. The Pentagon gave a briefing on Sunday evening after yet another unidentified flying object was shot down, this time in US airspace over Lake Huron. Reports began to circulate that the object was an “octagon” and that it didn’t appear to be a balloon. That set off some speculation that the recent rash of UFOs were balloons, likely from China, but that they were simply shaped differently than one would expect. In a pretty shocking statement, though, Gen. Glen VanHerck made it clear that’s not the view of the US military. The UFOs not being balloons would be crazy enough,
