Substack writer Matt Taibbi dropped his latest installment of the "Twitter Files" on Friday that detailed the FBI's ties with the tech giant.
"The #TwitterFiles are revealing more every day about how the government collects, analyzes, and flags your social media content. Twitter’s contact with the FBI was constant and pervasive, as if it were a subsidiary," Taibbi began the thread on Friday. "Between January 2020 and November 2022, there were over 150 emails between the FBI and former Twitter Trust and Safety chief Yoel Roth… a surprisingly high number are requests by the FBI for Twitter to take action on election misinformation, even involving joke tweets from low-follower accounts."

One of the worst “reporters” in existence has been suspended by NBC News for their criticism of Elon Musk. Ben Collins, a self-proclaimed “disinformation” expert who often appears on MSNBC as a talking head, was placed on an involuntary leave of absence after comments he made about Musk that NBC News found inappropriate. NBC News, meanwhile, has responded by suspending one of its journalists who has reported on Twitter and been harshly critical of Musk. NBC News temporarily suspended tech reporter Ben Collins from NBC and MSNBC airwaves. According to two sources, the network told Collins that his criticism of Musk, which included mocking Musk’s ignorance

A federal judge in Texas has put on hold for now the Biden administration's most recent attempt to end the so-called "Remain in Mexico" program.
US District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk is pausing the termination of the program that was outlined in an October 2021 policy memo while litigation around that memo continues.
The ruling marks a setback in President Joe Biden's effort to end the controversial Trump-era policy, which sends certain non-Mexican citizens who entered the US back to Mexico -- instead of detaining them or releasing them into the US -- while their immigration proceedings played out.

New York - Goldman Sachs Group Inc is planning to cut thousands of employees to navigate a difficult economic environment, a source familiar with the matter said.
The layoffs are the latest sign that cuts are accelerating across Wall Street as dealmaking dries up. Investment banking revenues have plunged this year amid a slowdown in mergers and share offerings, marking a stark reversal from a blockbuster 2021 when bankers received big pay bumps. Goldman Sachs had 49,100 employees at the end of the third quarter after adding significant numbers of staff during the pandemic. Its headcount will remain above pre-pandemic levels

On Thursday’s broadcast of CNN’s “AC360,” Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) responded to attempts to blame Congress for the situation on the border by saying that while Congress should pass immigration reform, the same laws were in place under prior administrations, and we didn’t have surges like the one we have now.
Host Anderson Cooper said, “But unless Congress does something, obviously, there [are] immediate things regarding both these policies, but unless Congress does something legislatively, there’s no end in sight to this.”

The Twitter Files reveal the suppression of the New York Post’s reporting on Biden family corruption at the behest of the deep state authorities with whom Twitter was collaborating. The absurd letter by 51 former intelligence officials reported by Natasha Bertrand and published by Politico was a key piece of the puzzle (to the extent it was a puzzle). Holman Jenkins takes it up in his Wall Street Journal column “Hunter Biden’s Laptop and 2020’s First Big Lie.”. He puts it this way:
When 51 ex-intelligence officials said the laptop’s emergence “has all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation,” they were lying.

Sam Bankman-Fried's family reportedly called his Bahamian jail to request special vegan meals for him.
The disgraced 'crypto king' was charged this week with multiple financial crimes following the shock collapse of FTX and its partner Alameda Research. On Tuesday, he was denied $250,000 cash bail and an ankle monitor and is currently residing in the Fox Hill jail. But he is reportedly being kept on the hospital wing and away from the general population inmates. SBF's attorneys previously argued his vegan diet is a reason he should be released as he awaits his February 8 extradition hearing.
They also asked the court to consider his daily medications, which include

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reportedly removed statistics on defensive gun use in the U.S. following pressure from gun control advocates. The stats sourced from a CDC-commissioned study finding that instances of defensive gun use occur between 60,000 and 2.5 million times per year. References to that study were deleted from the site following private meetings with gun control advocates in 2021, emails obtained and published by The Reload show.

Taylor Lorenz, a semi-prominent China apologist and internet reporter at the failing Washington Post, on Tuesday lashed out at a fellow journalist in a Twitter tirade many people are calling anti-Semitic.
The target: Bari Weiss, the successful Substack writer and friend of the Washington Free Beacon. Lorenz reacted poorly to an Axios article about Weiss's new media company, the Free Press, and decided to vent her rage on the immigrant-owned social networking website. "Notable what gets framed as a ‘buzzy media startup,'" Lorenz seethed. "If u start off rich, have a rich spouse, rich friends, don't follow any journalistic ethical rules

Former National Economic Council director Larry Summers said Thursday on MSNBC’s “Andre a Mitchell Reports” that the U.S. economy will have a recession.
Summer said, “I think the market is expecting, and I think that the market is probably right that inflation will come down from its current levels. There is still a question of whether it will stay down and how much we have to do to make sure that it stays down, I think it’s still a question. And whether it can be brought down to stay down without a recession is a very large question.”
He continued, “My guess is that the Fed will, in the end

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) is mad at Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell after Powell announced that the Fed was going to raise interest rates another half a percent. “He’s pushing hard to get more people fired because he thinks that is one way to help bring down inflation,” Warren told HuffPost on Wednesday. “But it’s sure painful for the families who lose their jobs.”
Yes, it is painful if you lose your job. Perhaps Warren’s boss, Joe Biden, should have thought about that before pouring $5 trillion into the economy,
And it’s not only Powell who thinks this is “one way to help bring down inflation.” It’s every

A pilot ejected following the crash of a Lockheed F-35B Lightning II jet on a Texas runway Thursday.
Police responded at approximately 10:15 a.m. to emergency calls from both Naval police and Lockheed Martin saying that a fighter jet had crashed at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth and that the pilot had ejected, White Settlement, Texas, police chief Chris Cook said in a video shot by a local Fox affiliate.
“When we arrived, we were pleased that we didn’t see a big plume of smoke, nothing like that, so we felt like, ‘OK, thoughts and prayers with the pilot, maybe they’re going to be fine,’”
