over Handling of Sexual-Assault Cases

Loudoun County Public Schools former superintendent Scott Ziegler and public information officer Wayde Byard were indicted by a special grand jury after an eight-month investigation into the district’s mishandling of two sexual assault cases. A Loudoun County judge unsealed the indictments on Monday. Ziegler was charged with one count of false publication, one count of prohibited conduct, and one count of penalizing an employee for a court appearance. Byard was charged with a count of felony perjury.

These days you are wasting your money if you pour resources into lobbyists. These days you can directly buy government.
Mark Zuckerberg spent his money in 2020 purchasing the actual mechanism by which which elections are conducted; and while this was expected, I think we can be pretty confident that he was satisfied with the results of his purchase. “Zuckerbucks” went directly to election officials, and while they didn’t directly purchase vote totals, they certainly had an effect on the outcome.

Washington - The House approved a $1.7 trillion spending package Friday, a day after the Senate adopted the sweeping bill despite a last-minute tussle between Republicans and Democrats over southern border policies.
The House vote, which provides funding of domestic and foreign programs through Sept. 30, took place only hours before the government would have run out of money and would have had to initiate a partial federal shutdown. The chamber passed the legislation largely along party lines, 225-201, with nine Republicans joining Democrats to approve the spending package. One Democrat sided with Republicans in opposing the bill.
The package now heads to President Joe Biden for his signature.

I will assume for the sake of civility that the WHO genuinely believes that the COVID vaccine is safe and effective. I will even assume that for most people the vaccine is safe, and at least somewhat effective in reducing the likelihood of severe disease in people likely to become deadly ill from COVID, such as the very old and very sick.

There was a cone of silence over the problem–polling indicated that Americans were very concerned about immigration. But once the votes had been cast and the Democrats for the most part saved the media clearly felt more comfortable covering the facts.

One of my favorite indicators of ignorance are the people who buy personalized license plates, or affix stickers, for their electric cars that say “Emission Free.” Even if you ignore the enormous environmental impacts associated with manufacturing an electric car (which are significantly higher than a gasoline-powered car), if you live in a state that generates a lot of its electricity from coal, you are essentially driving a coal-powered car.
The next most ignorant view is that at least you don’t have to buy expensive gasoline! People seem to forget that electricity isn’t free, from whatever source. It seems Europe is waking up to this:
