Americans set a new record Thanksgiving day record, spending $5.29 billion in online shopping on Thursday.
Thursday's amount represented a 2.9% increase from last year. Shoppers typically spend about $2 billion to $3 billion online in one day, according to data shared by Adobe.
Mobile shopping -- purchases made through smartphones -- accounted for 55% of online sales, an all-time record for Thanksgiving Day since 2012.
Vivek Pandya, a lead analyst at Adobe, told CNBC that the increase was driven by demand, as consumers shrugged off record-high levels of inflation.
Online sales haven't been driven higher by inflation like store sales, since e-commerce is largely made up of electronics, apparel and other durables

UPI, like AP is a shill for Biden and Dems. Don’t believe it, even with inflation.

Those figures, assuming they’re true, are for Thursday, Thanksgiving Day. Not Black Friday. Who goes shopping on Thanksgiving? Let’s see Friday’s sales.

How come they can track $5 billion spent by 330 million Americans spent yesterday and provide us with all the details, but we still don't know election results from House races 17 days ago?

What shopping I do is on line usually. I cant stand walmart, and I dont feel like battling the feral thugs who want to fight you for every sale. Its bad enough I have to carry a gun everywhere I go anymore. I shouldn't have to carry a short shotgun under my coat too.
To heck with all that. Click click. Package is on the way.

Good. I contributed. Bought more tactical ammunition at Cabela's and spent some points.

#5, excellent point! Maybe next election, we should cast our ballots using the cash register instead of Dominion Scam machines.

We were delivered whopping 50% electric rate increase for Connecticut for ‘23. Let’s see how much “shrugging off inflation “ happens.

Online shopping has been the way to go for me since I am disabled and cannot walk far. I will not go to a mall or downtown brick and mortar stores as limping along behind my rollator makes me EZ pickins for feral thugs who know they can attack old white ladies like me with impunity even though I pack my S&W 640. I can no longer go from shop to shop, only to not find the items for which I am looking. Online shopping offers me a wide variety of choices and prices and with all the Black Friday deals now being offered, with free shipping, all I have to do is click, "This is a gift" at check out, type in my loved ones address and the item is shipped directly to their home---no more standing in long lines at the Post Office to pay exorbitant USPS shipping prices. I can even purchase gift wrapping if I so chose. Often, vendors will offer to break the cost up into several monthly payments, at no extra charge. No more long lines, crowded parking lots where i am ultra vulnerable, feral thug shoppers and traipsing malls end to end, only to not find what I wanted. Have laptop, and hot chocolate, and click away, from the comfort and safety of my own home.

Probably close to the same amount if you factor in inflation.

In WW II Germany, the currency was so inflated they had to pick up their pay with wheelbarrows.
There is no "record", unless you look only at numbers and ignore the reality.

Buy now before the price goes up. The value of things goes up while the value of your dollar goes down.
2.9% increase means it went down around 5% in real dollars.
