Comments:

Need a laugh? President Larry Hogan. Maryland voters rejected Hogan’s hand-picked "successor" for governor for one who has Trump’s endorsement.

I know that simply posting "Who?" doesn't add much to the discussion, however, I honestly said that to myself when I saw the headline with just the name Hogan. Seeing his photo in the article and learning he's not only a governor but he's a Republican governor still didn't ring any bells of recognition.

Hogan's name recognition is flat out zero outside of Maryland, and within conservative Maryland, (there are such places) Hogan's name isn't much better than a cuss word. His handpicked successor ran tv ads of her pointing out how successful she's been starting with getting pregnant at 19. Someone like Hogan had to a classic RINO to win in Maryland. Ads from the demoslut party called Cox (Trump's guy) too conservative for Maryland. Funny, I don't remember ever seeing a campaign ad stating so and so is too Marxist or Socialist for Maryland despite many who ran for governor who ended up being just like that. Remember taxing private homeowners and companies for rain runoff. Too Marxist.

Tensions among Wisconsin Republicans over the direction of the party are taking shape in an area of the state that will remain a key ingredient to victories for conservatives no matter what voters decide. Former President Donald Trump is taking his war against Assembly Speaker Robin Vos to a rally in Waukesha County he's hosting for Republican candidate for governor Tim Michels just two days after Trump's estranged vice president Mike Pence held a separate event for Michels' top opponent Rebecca Kleefisch in Pewaukee.

State Treasurer Sarah Godlewski dropped out of the Democratic U.S. Senate primary Friday, clearing the field of major contenders for the party's presumptive nominee, Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes. Barnes will face Republican U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson in November. If elected, Barnes would be the state's first Black senator. Godlewski was the third top-tier candidate to withdraw in the last five days, following the exits of Milwaukee Bucks executive Alex Lasry and Outagamie County Executive Tom Nelson. The primary is Aug. 9.

As the House committee probing the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol continues to reveal how it says then-President Donald Trump and his allies worked to overturn the 2020 election, a bipartisan group of senators has quietly reached agreement on a sweeping effort to overhaul the very law at the heart of the former president's effort -- the Electoral Count Act of 1887 -- and was set to unveil a bill Wednesday. The ambiguous 19th century law attempts to prescribe both the process by which the Electoral College selects the president and vice president and how Congress then counts those votes.

(snip) If we could harness this reaction to generate electricity, it would be one of the most efficient and least polluting sources of energy possible. It is helpful to think of political developments as moves on the chessboard made to advance an objective. In chess, the objective is to win the game, chess being zero-sum. Politics is like that, too, though participants often claim it's not, that they're acting for the greater good, principles at the foundation of democracy, motherhood and apple pie and all that — which is true in some cases but never if Democrats are in the game. This brings me to Attorney General Garland's claim that the Mar-a-Lago home invasion wasn't a raid at all.

One thing we must give Democrats credit for is their unity. Yes, certain members of the party such as Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) will occasionally diverge from the party line and oppose particularly radical pieces of legislation, but when it comes to big moments and key votes – on impeachment, for instance – Democrats circle the wagons. Contrarily, Republicans tend to fracture at the most inopportune moments, which is why it was refreshing to see virtual unanimity amongst the GOP after Monday’s outrageous raid on former President Donald Trump’s residence Mar-a-Lago. Almost all notable Republicans supported Trump after the ordeal; all except for one.
