Bruce Springsteen has been a wealthy man for a very long time. In 1973 he released his second album, The Wild, The Innocent, and the E Street Shuffle which featured the classic song, Rosalita. Toward the end of the song’s tale about budding romance and the reluctance of a young woman’s father to accept her suitor, Springsteen explains, “And the record company, Rosie, just gave me a big advance!” We bet they did Bruce.
Just two years later, Springsteen burst into superstardom in 1975 with his blockbuster album Born to Run, which resulted in him being one of the first entertainers ever to be featured on

All of Bruce Springsteen's songs sound alike. He used to be attractive, at least, but not anymore. But if people want to shell out big buck to see him, that's their problem. As PT Barnum said...

Springsteen in the 1970s put out a lot of good music, after that it was mostly crap. He should have stopped with Darkness at the Edge of Town.

Living for over 20 in NJ I ran across only two opinions of Springsteen. Either people worshiped him, or hated him. Me…I was kinda in the middle for awhile. Now I hate him. At one time I liked a few, four, of his songs, and saw him in concert once.
His concert wasn’t anything special as far as I’m concerned. His fans always hyped him up and how great he was, but none of this was in evidence when I saw and heard him. His band is or was decent. I’ve heard so much better, but that singing voice. I could never get over how really bad his singing voice is. Why his fans went potty for him I’ll never understand.
Bruce owes his career to leftist, hack rock critics and "journalists". If it wasn’t for them he’d be pumping gas like one of the characters in the lousy songs he warbles about. My opinion is people like him and/or profess love for him do so to be accepted as part of a crowd because Rolling Stone magazine kept saying how great he was despite his obvious lack of any lasting, enjoyable talent. He’s the most overrated singer/musician in the history of American history.
As a hobby I collect vinyl records and after reading this article, I took a gander on eBay to see what prices his stuff is fetching. And I gotta say there must not be a big demand for it. The prices for his records aren’t appreciating in value much at all.
So apparently we’re not the only ones who don’t value "the boss". Just vocal about how terrible a vocalist he truly is.
For those who don’t believe me, listen for yourself.

I was a fan back in the 70's. The Born in the USA tour had me move on to other music. Anyhow, back then when he played in Pittsburgh, he would donate $10K from each show to the Homestead Rainbow Kitchen. I give him credit for doing so. I don't recall other performers doing this. Remembering the good ol' days only to realize how times have changed.

I have never understood his popularity. His voice is worse than nails on a chalkboard at 140 decibels. I can only conclude that he and his group put on a loud show and everyone thinks that equals phenomenal talent. If you want to evaluate a singers voice, ask them to sing a cappella (and no auto-tuning equipment allowed).

I wonder if my former governor, Chris "The Orca" Christie, has his tickets. He's such a slobbering fan boy, you know, and lives for these concerts.
Haven't heard anything from him lately. Lucky that his wife can keep the family afloat financially, because Chris is obviously not in demand anywhere.

I was never a big fan of Springsteen. Some of his songs weren't bad. I really only liked one in particular. Same with the Beatles. I was never a big fan of the group. I, like everyone else, wanted a Beatles record after seeing them on the Ed Sullivan Show, but as I grew up, I discovered other musical groups that I liked better. After a short period of time, I got tired of hearing the songs from the Beatles and eventually Springsteen. Now, I just change to station whenever one of the songs from these people come on. In my early twenties, I probably went to over thirty concerts. Everyone from Leon Russel to the Stones but I never paid more than ten dollars for the tickets. Some concerts cost five bucks, and several of those concerts, I sat right alongside of the stage. The idea of spending thousands of dollars to see anyone seems just ridiculous.

#15 At least Barry gave us:
State Farm: “Like a Good Neighbor”
Band-Aid: “Stuck on Band-Aid”
McDonald's: “You Deserve a Break Today” - if only he stuck to jingles.
Bruce has admitted to 'pretending' to be gay to dodge the draft.
"Born in the USA" is an "I hate America anthem".
NJ Senate (D) voted to make "Born to Run" the state's "rock theme". Lyrics:
"baby this town rips the bones from your back
It's a death trap, it's a suicide rap
We gotta get out while we're young".
Democrat politicians turn their states into death traps, but only NJ brags about it.

I never understood why Chris Christie had such a man-crush on Springsteen, especially since Springsteen wasn't tolerant of Christie's politics, and made no secret of it. I particularly don't understand why Christie's would have attended 100 Springsteen concerts. That's a lot of money to waste on hearing the same songs over and over. A whole set of CDs is cheaper.

When exactly was Springsteen working at a blue-collar job?
He started working on his musical career while he was in high school and I would say he was working full-time at that at least by 1973 (age 24). I saw his band playing warm-up for Chicago in Fayetteville, NC, about then.
He may have come from a blue-collar family, but has spent, at least, the last 49 years as a music professional, and virtually all that time as an elite one.

He can charge whatever he thinks will be acceptable to his fans. My guess is that many of his concert goers these days aren’t the hardscrabble blue collar workers from Springsteen’s youth. The Democrat party, his party, has managed to kill off those jobs or send them out of the country. Any remaining blue collar jobs have been vilified by the Democrats-Bruce’s party-such as oil field workers, truckers, farmers, coal miners, fishermen, anyone whose job isn’t Green. So, we need a revamp of your stuff Bruce. How about, “Cause tramps like you, baby you were born to code”?
I do like “Born to Run”. If you grew up in a town with heavy manufacturing it resonates somewhat. We wanted more than a job on the line at Boeing or Cessna or Beach when we were young and didn’t understand life and what makes our country function. But it’s not my anthem and probably not anyone else’s any more.

Typical socialist! How their tune changes when the money comes rolling in. They never have enough, like how much money do you need, asked Obongo. Another one is Larry David who admitted to being embarrassed at making so much money off the Seinfeld show. Yet all of them keep mouthing off about the evils of capitalism.

Rumor has it that Billy Joel saves front row seats for ticket buyers in the nosebleed section.
His feeling is that he wants the enthusiastic fans in front of him when he's on stage and not the ho-hum elitists.
Gotta love a guy who thinks that way.

Even Springsteen himself says this working-class hero business is nonsense, since he's never worked as anything other than a musician. That said, I enjoyed a lot of his early stuff, when he still seemed to be having fun, instead of later when it was all brooding. Politically, I was done with him after the "No Nukes" concert which opposed nuclear power.

Springsteen's early songs were his best; some were covered by other artists such as Manfred Mann's version of Bruce's "Blinded by the Light" from 1976, which was Springsteen's only song to hit #1. In 1975 he made the covers of Time and Newsweek. His music was everywhere in college. His last song that I liked was 1978's "Racing in the Street" with its memorable opening line: "I've got a '69 Chevy with a 396, fuelie heads and a Hurst on the floor."
Then Bruce went neon political, got ultra-serious (super duper serial), and lost me as a fan. If rockers want to opine about politics and remain on my good side, they'd better sound something like Ted Nugent. Otherwise, they can put a red sock in their commie bouche.

I remember reading those articles in Time and Newsweek. I had never heard of Springsteen until then, but after reading the slobbering coverage those two rags gave him I figured that 1) the guy would hit it big and 2) he wasn’t half as good as the writers claimed. As far as I’m concerned, I was right on both counts. To my ears the E Street band is just noise and as for Bruce, he screams he doesn’t sing.

Never bought any of his music, but came to like some of it as years went on. My kids and I could cover "Cadillac Ranch" pretty well, though it was closer to the Dirt Band version. Three chords - how can you go wrong? Bruce has had a long career and worked to get his millions. He can charge what he wants, and should accept all criticism. Almost all aging rockers fancy themselves pundits, usually on the wrong side of truth.

Springsteen was a part of my childhood watching his MTV videos Dancing in the Dark with a very pretty Courtney Cox dancing on stage with him. Also my buying his cassette Born In the USA at Camelot Music in the mall as a teen driving (who remembers how fun that was) solo and meeting my friends, talking to girls, enjoying movies etc. All in an age with no cell phones, internet and social media. What my children called "the dark ages". It was great being a kid back then. Now the so-called Boss has become your typical Hollywood/musician democrat hack and you couldn't pay me to go see him screech live.
