Jeanette Cooper, a mom in Chicago, has missed her daughter’s 13th, 14th, and 15th birthdays. She doesn’t get to be there as her daughter is learning to drive. In fact, she has only seen Sophia for eight and a half hours in the last three years. That’s because Cooper lost custody of her daughter after refusing to go along with Sophia’s belief that she is transgender.
When Sophia was 12, Cooper went to pick her up from a custodial visit at her father’s house, but her daughter refused to come home.

Teenagers have a new and powerful weapon to manipulate Mom and Dad, with the full backing of the medical community and the government agencies.
I feel that I would have acted exactly as this mom did. What a get wrenching time she has had. She acted in the best interest of her 12 year old and has paid a heavy price, but, at least, she has staved off the actual "transition" process" until some judge rules otherwise.
Let's hope that the daughter will have an easy time when "he" decides that maybe this isn't right for her. These kids have been reaffirmed in their decision and told over and over how "brave" "courageous" and "wonderful' they are by everyone, that chaining her mind might be pretty difficult.
I'm so glad that being "Trans" was not a thing when my kids were teens. I had one who loved to get to me with wild fads. She became a Pagan, Wiccan, Witch, Goth, Empath, Vegan, and a multitude of lessor horrors all the while attending a Catholic College Prep high school that cost us $6K a year. Thank goodness the rules prevented her from manifesting her "identities" in public.
I hope that this Mom can look back on this time, maybe not smile about it, but at least she'll know that she kept her daughter from ruining her life.
Our wild child, is now married to a nice guy, has two kids (a trying teen of her own) Before Covid had the kids in Catholic school, since Covid she home school's. They attends a church every Sunday at a parish with regular Latin Masses. Touch and go for a while but at least I can breathe now.

Do not marry a liberal and certainly do not procreate with one. Take your kids out of public schools. This is a war with mentally ill lunatics that want your child to affirm their craziness. Stop it!

When our middle daughter was a teen she actually called social services on me and they recommended removing her. Horror, I required that she go to school even though she refused to get out of bed and get in the shower and get ready to go, so I pulled her out of bed - I TOUCHED her! Luckily she had an older sister that was married and took her in for a few weeks. Hubby was a long haul trucker at the time and she was totally acting out about dad being gone all of the time. The government has given kids weapons to use against parents for decades, this is just the latest. BTW this daughter is now in her 40's and doing just fine. She is still a daddy's girl and they are best friends as well. She and I get along pretty well most of the time - she actually apologized in her late 20's for all the grief she gave us as a teen.

It’s usually the mom going along with this craziness. I can only imagine what her ex husband is like. Hopefully this child will come to her senses soon. The hardest thing to do as a parent is what’s right for your child and not what’s “popular”

#1 and 3 - congratulations on surviving your teens' difficulties. Teens go through a rebellious stage and some are worse than others. Mine wasn't too severe, but I'm glad my parents lived long enough for me to make amends with them and tell them how grateful I was for the life they gave me.

Before passing judgement on dad, take a look at mom.
Just say'n.

I think the key word in this article is "Chicago."

Here in SW Ohio a judge removed a teen from her home because the parents refused to let her 'transition' - this was over 4 years ago. The courts have no sense. This stuff is a scourge on our children & families.

I always wanted a daughter. Life gave me two wonderful boys. Then along came a granddaughter. I lived with my son and his family while she was growing up. I regularly thank god for sons.

#6, Mom was certainly not photographed well, but what I see is an attractive woman with her hair pulled back in a pony tail, with her sunglasses propped on her head wearing a shirt her DAUGHTER gave her looking as wrecked as I would be were I her.
