Liz Cheney: Opposition to Same Sex Marriage ‘Wrong’

Original Article

Posted By: Imright, 7/24/2022 2:32:10 PM

Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that she believes opposition to same-sex marriage is wrong and that Congress should vote to protect it. Anchor Jake Tapper said, “One issue, one question about a vote that you passed. You are one of 47 House Republicans who voted this week to codify same-sex marriage protections. The culmination of a remarkable personal evolution for you. You used to oppose same-sex marriage. That infamously went to a public falling out with your own sister. What’s your message to any Senate Republican who’s on the fence about voting for this bill?”

When the political career of Liz "Crazy" Cheney comes to a screeching halt of mid-term day, she will set foot in Wyoming most likely to have one last look before returning to the DC Deep Swamp where she's most comfortable. CNN/MSNBC will probably have a new "contributor". She is.......a pathetic puke.

She claims to be conservative, but conservatism is defined by “conserving” that which is good and works. Through thousands of years of human tradition over every culture, marriage has been defined by a union and compact between husband ( male) and wife (female). This union and compact have been affirmed and sanctioned by religion and law. She is a desperate House Representative, likely to lose her once safe seat, and is going full renegade. Welcome to your new CNN job where you’ll be more ignored.

The relationship of two men or two women is simply not the same thing as the relationship between a man and a woman - unless, of course, you do not acknowledge any differences between men and women. Thus these relationships cannot meet the definition of marriage, a relationship ordered to protect the children of any union. Thus I cannot recognize the legitimacy of "gay marriage." Those individuals who claim to be in a "gay marriage" are deluded. Changing the definition does not legitimize the relationship. I understand why politicians would want this argument to go away. But I'm not a politician. Ramona (the Pest)

What did you lose first, Liz, your faith in God or your moral compass? Your support for same-sex marriage does not override the design of God: "From the beginning the Creator made them male and female’ ... ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’ (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:5).

Thanks for understanding that marriage, for most Americans and the world, still, is a sacrement between God and his faithful servants, joined in union...... We can argue about yoSur qualifications to define what is considered sinful and what is not at another time. In any event, it is not for government to decide or define what religious practices its citizenry recognizes. If you want recognition of same sex civil unions, states can certainly do that if they see fit. Marriage laws have always been left to the state and if Wyoming wants to recognize your relationship with your refridgerator or your golden retriever, well, love is love. But as the Supreme Court reminded us, rights don't come from the Court, they come from the Constitution and when they aren't in there, in writing so you can point to it and say "HA!! see, right here!!". When the people and states want to add a right, so that the ninth and tenth amendments don't get in the way, well, our founding fathers made it pretty clear how to go about that, and we have done so, to prohibit liquor, the extend the vote, to make sure presidents don't hang around DC and try to run things for more than two terms ( Mr. Obama and company, pick up the courtesy phone). You have no national constituency to represent, go back to representing the interests of Wyoming and STHU.

There are few RINOs who have been hit harder with Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) than Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), save perhaps Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY). Cheney, as we've been covering for some time now, given her standing in the polls, is likely to lose her seat to Trump-backed primary challenger, Harriet Hageman. Kinzinger is retiring, after Illinois state Democrats pretty much redistricted his seat out of existence. While speaking to CNN's Jim Sciutto on Friday, following yet another public hearing from the January 6 Select Committee from the night before, Rep. Kinzinger claimed that nobody would admit to voting for or supporting former President Donald Trump in 10 years,

It is still unclear what exactly Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) Jan. 6 committee is trying to accomplish, but a bipartisan group of 16 senators proved this week the body’s work is not necessary to reach real, productive, commonsense electoral reform. Negotiated by Sens. Susan Collins (R-ME) and Joe Manchin (D-WV), the Electoral Count Reform and Presidential Transition Improvement Act is perhaps most praiseworthy for what is not in it. Specifically, all of the highly partisan and harmful provisions of the Democrats' preferred electoral legislation — The For the People Act, which would have banned voter identification requirements, among other things — have been removed from this bill.

Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin suggested that abortion bans in some states could actually violate religious beliefs in a column on Sunday. Rubin introduced the subject by referencing a lawsuit brought up by the Jewish Congregation L’Dor Va-Dor against the 15-week abortion ban in Florida. The congregation argued that Jewish law "does not consider life to begin at conception or at 15 weeks" and refusing an abortion could violate their beliefs. Though Rubin questioned whether this would sufficiently infringe on "First Amendment rights and the state constitution’s free-exercise clause," she still considered the issue "important."
