The driver of the sweltering tractor-trailer truck where at least 51 migrants were found dead in Texas was allegedly “very high on meth” when he was nabbed, authorities said.
Homero Zamorano, 45, was taken into custody in a nearby field after he allegedly abandoned the 18-wheeler with dozens of migrants stashed in the back in a desolate area in San Antonio on Monday.
“He was very high on meth when he was arrested nearby and had to be taken to the hospital,” a law enforcement official told the San Antonio Express News.

FTA: "They later arrested two other men, Juan Claudio D’Luna-Mendez and Juan Francisco D’Luna-Bilbao, when they each left the residence. D’Luna-Bilbao and D’Luna-Mendez were both charged with possessing firearms while residing in the US illegally, according to the criminal complaints."
Since when is it a crime for Mexican citizens to overstay their visas (according to NY Daily News)? We have no border, so why should there be a visa? And if they can vote, drive, collect welfare, and whatever else, why can't they also possess firearms? Seems to be egregiously selective enforcement of the laws; set them free.

What difference does that make? Those people would be dead even if the guy was stone cold sober.

I have as much sympathy for those 51 as I have for the bank robber shot dead trying to flee with the money. If you trust a cartel coyote to slather yourself in steak sauce, climb into the trailer of an 18 wheeler, get locked in and sneak across the border, you just bet your life and lost.

Clearly the government needs to train and certify these transport drivers.

Well, then he's not to blame. It's his addiction that made him do it.

Re #4, perhaps he was supposed to stop periodically and let them out, or stop for water, or something and because he was whacked out on drugs.....didn't remember what to do.

Be mad at the parents of those children that put them in a dangerous situation. I do have sympathy for them. The adults? Meh.

My snippy reply:. We need more truck control laws and BACKGROUND CHECKS to drive one across the border.

They should be arresting Joe Biden for murder. He is the reason these people are dead.

Hey cartels, stick with the teenagers. Schools are out and they're looking for summer jobs.

You can bet this "investigation" will soon wrap up, the driver and accomplices prosecuted and likely cop a plea so no testimony embarrassing to anyone else is heard. In fact, Bexar County's prosecutor should convene a grand jury and start the process to deliver indictments for at least manslaughter to those who can be shown to corrupt border security policies, techniques or processed. The first should be Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
Fifty-one human beings are dead, including children. Lawbreakers murdered by the entire cast of politicians, coyotes, religious go-gooders and others. If Uvalde was a tragedy demanding government "do something", this even has a death toll more than double. Rather than "gun control", perhaps it's time to demand serious "border control" using existing laws, eliminating perverted policies preventing proper enforcement.

Just heard a BP agent on the radio state that these illegals did NOT cross the border in that truck, which dispels the argument that an open border would have prevented their deaths. This truck was a connecting flight, loaded at a rendezvous point for those whose final destination was a perticular city of their choice. The agent also said that - despite the lax restrictions at the border - many still choose to sneak in to remain undocumented. Also said that the truck made it through the checkpoint in San Antonio because all the agents there were processing admin elsewhere due to the flood of migrants. There's no winning.

So the driver is a victim of drugs and suffering from addiction and we should support him and Hunter as they attempt to... Ahhh.. NO!
