A bloodhound named Trumpet won the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show on Wednesday night.
Trumpet beat a French bulldog, a German shepherd, a Maltese, an English setter, a Samoyed and a Lakeland terrier to take the trophy.
'I am so excited for Trumpet,' said handler Heather Helmer, who co-owns and bred the 4-year-old. Trumpet became the first bloodhound to win Westminster.
Winston, a French bulldog co-owned by NFL defensive lineman Morgan Fox, took second in the nation's most prestigious dog show.

Johnny Enlow won’t have to work too hard to read the prophetic into that!

Our country is falling down everywhere, maybe never to recover! Who cares about a dog show?! You won’t find any dogs roaming free in Venezuela, where we surely are heading!

Every story about the Westminster Dog Show reminds me of the improv movie Best In Show.

French Bulldogs being the canine of choice with hipsters these days and dog show judges tending to be predictable, I fully expected it to get the call. So I was shocked and happy when he called the Bloodhound. But peeved that once again my poodles got shafted. Love Westminster!

I love dogs! And am especially happy that a bloodhound won. He is an excellent specimen. That face! He looked like he was bored to death. Have to admit I am a terrier lover having had Airedales and Welsh Terriers. They are a handful though but worth it. Dog shows may not make the world go ‘round but they do bring some relief from all the bad news. Well done, Trumpet!

Love that Trumpet won. Beautiful dog. But I like the bull terrier and the Frenchie. Those bull terriers are a hoot! Awesome fun dog. As is the Frenchie. The German Shepard is beautiful. But breeders ruined them by breeding them to have a lower back legs. Ruined the look of the dog.

Love the hound! What a nose they have also! I’m surprised some feminine poodle didn’t win again? Maybe the hound is non-binary? Great choice all around! Beautiful dog!

Nice that they had it in June instead of February, but that is only for one year.

#3, even in Venezuela, they go about their lives trying to enjoy the enjoyable things they do have. We can wring our hands over the state of the world and chew gum at the same time.
