President Biden loaded first cat Willow onto the Marine One helicopter for yet another long weekend in Delaware, as first lady Jill Biden cut short her husband’s replies to questions on what most Americans are struggling with — record-high gas prices and soaring inflation. The cat, stowed in a crate, was spotted by journalists Friday being walked across the White House lawn as the chopper hummed. Biden, who on Thursday gave his first on-the-record press interview in four months, took several reporter questions before joining Willow and Jill for the trip to his vacation home in Rehoboth Beach, Del., including

A Rainbow Family council convening this week outside Oak Creek has announced its 50th annual Rainbow Gathering of the Tribes will be in the remote Adams Park area of Routt National Forest, north of Hayden. (Snip) The Forest Service has been watching online chatter about the Rainbow Gathering since early April, when the group announced it would return to Colorado for its 50th gathering. The group’s first get-together was outside Granby in 1972. In 1992 the group drew more than 10,000 to federal land outside Paonia and more than 10,000 attended the group’s rally in the Routt National Forest outside

President Biden appeared to get defensive when asked during a Thursday interview if his energy policies were to blame for inflation. In his first interview with The Associated Press, the president – running contrary to what many economists are forecasting after the Federal Reserve raised interest rates – said a recession was "not inevitable." (Snip) At the notion that his administration’s policies were responsible for the worst inflation in 40 years and record-high gas prices, the president reportedly bristled. "If it’s my fault, why is it the case in every other major industrial country in the world that inflation is

The Atlantic writer Mark Leibovich called on President Biden to not seek re-election in a new opinion piece, declaring the most elderly person to ever hold the White House "too old" to stay on another six years. "Let me put this bluntly: Joe Biden should not run for re-election in 2024. He is too old," Leibovich wrote. (Snip) Biden, already the oldest president ever elected, turns 80 in November and would be 86 at the end of a hypothetical second term. Leibovich quoted one senior administration official telling him he "just seems old." Leibovich, a veteran journalist and author known

The pro-abortion group Jane’s Revenge is declaring it “open season” on pro-life groups and crisis pregnancy centers. Despite a wave of negative news coverage and reports that Democrats are ready to junk President Joe Biden in 2024, he still leads all other potential challengers by a good margin. In the latest Zogby Poll, provided to Secrets today, Biden’s support among Democratic voters is 41%. His only weakness appears to be among younger voters. Former first lady Michelle Obama, who has signaled no interest in running, remains in second at 16% followed by Vice President Kamala Harris at 11%. Should Biden, who would be 81 on Election Day 2024, decide against running, the race tightens to Obama at

During a campaign event at a high school in Des Moines, Iowa, retired Navy Vice Admiral Michael Franken, the Iowa Democrat taking on longtime Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley, said that he wanted to "change" the state to have more "progressive thought" than California. "Like Iowa used to be," Franken said. "We would swing at ideas well before states like California." "We were the generators of good ideas," the Iowa Democrat added. However, Franken’s goal to surpass the Golden State in liberalness may not be the golden messaging he’s looking for as inflation rises nationwide, but especially in California. The U.S.'s

Discussing speculation over whether President Biden would run for reelection in 2024, "The View" host Joy Behar said Tuesday that David Axelrod, a former adviser to Barack Obama, should "keep his mouth shut" about president's age. "David Axelrod should keep his mouth shut. And you know what, Ronald Reagan's rule was thou shall not speak ill of a fellow Republican. And I say onto you, David Axelrod, do not speak ill of a fellow Democrat," Behar declared. Guest host Alyssa Farah brought up Axelrod's comments in a New York Times article from Saturday, headlined "Should Biden Run in 2024? Democratic

President Joe Biden on Tuesday blamed Republicans and the Russian invasion of Ukraine for soaring US inflation, in a bid to deflect voter anger over his inability to keep prices down. Speaking to trade unions in Philadelphia on the eve of the Federal Reserve's likely decision to raise interest rates again, Biden said inflation is "sapping the strength of a lot of families." (Snip) But he rejected arguments that his government's massive spending to stimulate the economy at the tail end of the Covid-19 pandemic was to blame, instead citing shockwaves from Ukraine and Republican obstruction. Caterpillar Inc. said Tuesday it will move its global headquarters from Illinois to an existing divisional office in Irving, Texas, in the Dallas-Forth Worth area, in another blow to the Chicago area, which last month lost the Boeing Co. headquarters. The move is “in the best strategic interest of the company,” Chief Executive Jim Umpleby said in a statement. The heavy-machinery maker has had a presence in Texas since the 1960s, it said. Even with the move, Illinois has the largest concentration of Caterpillar employees anywhere in the world, the company said. The headquarters was historically in downstate Peoria, Ill.
