The most remarkable aspect about today’s Harvard-Harris poll? It’s actually good news for Joe Biden. For the second month in a row, The Hill reports, Biden’s overall job approval comes in at 41/54. The problem isn’t so much overall approval as it is on the issues that will matter most to voters in the midterms:
Biden’s overall approval rating sits at 41 percent in the survey, and the numbers are not much better when broken down by each issue.
Only 35 percent of registered voters approve of Biden’s handling of the economy, 44 percent approve of his efforts to stimulate job growth and just 33 percent approve of his handling of inflation.

Former White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will be the Republican nominee for the Arkansas gubernatorial race, Decision Desk HQ projects.
As of 8:13 p.m. Central Time, Huckabee-Sanders is leading with 80.67 percent with 26 percent of the vote in. As Arkansas leans heavily red, the former Trump administration official will likely end up victorious in the general election in November. A March poll from the Remington Research Group shows her at 58 percent support, compared to 28 percent for her presumed Democratic opponent Chris Jones. This is unsurprising, especially when one also considers the wide unpopularity of Democrats in Washington at the moment trickling down to the state level.

I was skeptical that the Sussman prosecution would tell us much that is new, but some significant nuggets have come out. Like this one: “FBI brass were ‘fired up’ about now-debunked Trump-Russia ties.”
FBI leaders, including then-Director James Comey, were “fired up” about a potential connection between the Trump campaign and Russia — which ultimately was proven false, text messages and court testimony revealed Tuesday.
On Sept. 21, 2016, two days after Hillary Clinton campaign attorney Michael Sussmann gave then-FBI General Counsel James Baker info about a supposed digital back channel

On Tuesday evening, President Joe Biden delivered remarks on the elementary school shooting in Uvalde, Texas. As of the time of Biden’s comments, 18 children in grades 2-4 are confirmed dead. In addition, a teacher at the school is deceased, along with the shooter and possibly his grandmother. Details are still emerging, with CBS News reporting that the suspect began shooting at random when he entered Robb Elementary School with a long rifle and also shot at responding officers.
Biden spoke at the White House podium, after his return from Japan, and appeared somber and soft-spoken with first lady Jill Biden at his side. He began by offering condolences and speaking

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, a close ally of former President Donald Trump, fended off a primary challenge from Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush in Tuesday’s runoff election.
With 36 percent of the expected vote counted, Paxton held a 31-point lead over Bush.
Bush — the son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and nephew of former President George W. Bush — is the first member of his family to lose a statewide election in Texas since his grandfather George H.W. Bush, the former president, lost the state’s 1980 Republican presidential primary to Ronald Reagan.
“There’s Bush burnout,” Derek Ryan, a Texas Republican data guru, said in an interview

Democrat Stacey Abrams officially won Georgia’s Democrat gubernatorial primary race, bringing a long-awaited rematch against incumbent Gov. Brian Kemp (R), who also won his race on Tuesday.
The former Georgia state representative officially secured her nomination Tuesday night: Abrams long maintained that she defeated Kemp in the last governor’s race, ultimately deeming the system as “not fair.” In a 2019 interview with the New York Times, a reporter presented the failed gubernatorial candidate with the following: “I saw that recently you said something like you’d won your election but you just didn’t get to have the job.”
Abram’s responded with a resounding, “Yes.”

Trump-backed Georgia Republican Herschel Walker, a former NFL running back and Heisman Trophy winner, won his party primary for the U.S. Senate according to the Associated Press, which called the race at 7:56 p.m. E.T.
Walker, who led in every public poll against his closest challenger Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black, was expected to easily win his party’s primary, with little chance that he would not breeze past 50 percent Tuesday night.
The Republican Senate nominee, whom former President Donald Trump has endorsed since last year, has been a household name in the Peach State since his time playing football for the University of Georgia and winning the Heisman Trophy before going on

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has successfully fended off a challenge from former Senator David Perdue in the state’s Republican gubernatorial primary, the Associated Press has projected. The victory sets up a rematch between the governor and Democrat Stacey Abrams, whom he defeated in the 2018 general election.
Kemp bested Abrams by 55,000 votes in November 2018, though Abrams contested the race and has made repeated claims that the election was stolen from her.
She has, to this day, never conceded to Kemp and said as recently as October, “Just because you win, doesn’t mean you won.”
Abrams peddled disinformation about Georgia’s new election law

Fourteen students and one teacher were killed in a shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, on Tuesday, Governor Greg Abbott announced.
A spokesman for the Uvalde County Sheriff’s Office told National Review that a single gunman, 18-year-old Salvador Ramos, entered the school and began firing. Texas Governor Greg Abbott, in a press conference a few hours after the incident, claimed that Ramos used a handgun, and may have possessed a rifle.
Ramos, a student at Uvalde High School, killed his grandmother before the incident. Other law enforcement sources indicated that he may have been involved in a pursuit with police shortly before entering the school,

British banking giant HSBC has suspended a top executive who argued during a recent public presentation that the financial risks of climate change were overblown and exaggerated by central bank officials and other policymakers.
The suspended employee, Stuart Kirk, is global head of responsible investment at HSBC’s asset management division. He made the remarks during a presentation titled, “Why investors need not worry about climate risk.” Kirk stated his view that warnings about climate change have “become so hyberbolic that no one really knows how to get anyone’s attention at all.” “I wouldn’t normally mind that. There is “no way” Florida will ever support the World Health Organization’s (W.H.O.) global pandemic treaty, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) said on Monday.
“We in Florida, there is no way we will ever support this W.H.O. thing … that’s not going to happen. No way,” DeSantis said during a press conference in Cape Coral, Florida.
“But you saw, I mean, you saw a lot of these elites advocate very pernicious policies,” he added, noting that “part of the reason people want to move here is because we rejected those policies, but they advocated very pernicious policies, including locking kids out of school.”

I’d say “I called it” but it wasn’t exactly a mystery as to why Dave Chappelle was attacked while he was on stage.
As you’ll likely recall, in early May, a man ran on stage and attacked Chappelle with a knife inside a fake gun. Chappelle was no worse for the wear, but the man came out bloodied, battered, bruised, and with his arm at an interesting angle. At the time, it was not confirmed as to why the man attacked Chappelle but everyone had an educated guess as to why. Many speculated it had everything to do with Chappelle’s comedy specials upsetting the transgender community and that the man
