Tourists with a head for heights have a thrilling new experience to enjoy - strolling along the world's longest glass-bottomed bridge, which opened in Vietnam on Friday. The company behind the Bach Long pedestrian bridge - whose name translates to 'white dragon' - in the northwest Son La province, says the mammoth 632m- (2,073ft) long structure has surpassed a 526m-long (1,725ft) glass bridge in Guangdong, China.Officials from Guinness World Records are expected to verify the claim in the coming weeks. (Photos) The bridge is suspended 150m (490ft) above a lush jungle in Moc Chau Island Mountain Park and Resort and snakes around dizzying cliff faces

Somehow I don't think I'd trust anything built by the Viet Cong

The noble, honorable and ancient peoples of Greater China are highly offended by this affront to our honor!
Vietnam must destroy this threat to peaceful unity and harmony on the Chinese continent or we shall be forced to destroy it.

Ok now in all seriousness, I visited Vietnam recently as a tourist and found it amusing in the primary museum they have about the war that they never mention the US directly but only talk about the Imperialists and Western Invaders.
Food was good, people were short, streets were as dirty as most big western cities, no one bothered us, lots of bikes, not as many tall buildings but otherwise could have been any smaller western city.

Not interested in something like this built by 3rd world communists. I wouldn't want to stand UNDER it , let alone on it.

Where I live, Atlanta, Georgia, all the bridges have fences to prevent suicide. Must not be a problem in a socialist paradise. Need to find a soprano to see if she can shatter glass.

All those photos and not a single one actually shot looking through the glass towards the bottom of the gorge.

Not for me. I have no interest in visiting a communist country, plus my acrophobia is so bad that when I step on a curb I have to hold on to a lamppost.

Good thought #6. Who will keep it clean? Will there be marks and numbers on the side? Each local will be assigned a section that must be cleaned on schedule.

At Portsmouth, England they have the Spinnaker Tower, and it has a section of glass floor. We stood on it. Slightly uncomfortable, with no belay.
My wife and I have done rock walls which were higher than the Spinnaker Tower, and working a high rock face can be a bit challenging to focus on the task literally in front of you, rather than the 700 ft of air underneath you. But then, we had ropes and harnesses belaying us if we fell. Never fell, never tested the protection. We haven't done any serious climbing since the 90s or so, getting a bit old for that sort of thing. Walking backwards off the lip of a cliff while rappelling is "interesting". Always check you anchors, ropes and harnesses and connections multiple times.
Not completely put off by the glass floor - but I don't trust third world engineering very much, frankly. And don't need to stand on a glass floor. Been there, done that, the box is checked already.
