Supreme Court justices have temporarily reinstated a woke admissions policy at one of America's top schools despite a federal judge previously ruling it was racist. The high court did not explain its order Monday that allows the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science & Technology to continue using its admissions policy, while the Fairfax County School Board appeals the lower court's February ruling. Fairfax County School Board changed its admissions policy in the wake of the killing of George Floyd in May 2020 to boost 'equity' at the school.

The definition of "equity" is dumbing down insofar as education is concerned. So Jefferson HS aspires to second-rate hood! Thank you, BLM and NAACP.

Back about three decades ago, a medical school in California decided that not enough blacks went to medical school, so they set up a summer program that did the following: The school selected black preteens, dressed them in white doctor jackets, gave them stethoscopes to wear, and called them 'Doctor' while the children did little research projects. (The school may have been UCLA, but I'm not sure of that.)
Separate from the legal questions here- blind admissions process, but Latash'ia and Trayvon would be identifiable, and any asian student with an asian name would be identifiable, so not so blind- what good would it do to admit any student, regardless of race, if they are not competitive? Did any of those preteens described above become doctors? I doubt it.

This simply means someone slipped it to the right, leftist clerk.
It's a pain for the parents, but honestly... do you want your kids exposed to an institution like this?

Of course they did.
The Wide Latina and the new racist black lady who doesn’t know what a woman is wouldn’t have their jobs or degrees but for racist admission policies.

You know, I‘m almost at the point of giving up and living the rest of my life under a rock. This is gut-wrenching.

I always thought it was the parents that enabled their kids to reach higher.

#9 I had the same thought but I 'd wager some virtuous white progressive is already preparing to have the school's name changed. Consider George Floyd, Trayvon Martin, Robert Byrd (oops, that's WVA) or simply a fluid "say the name" of the current black victim du jour?

Affirmative action programs do great evil because they advance not the most qualified, but the minimally qualified who satisfy the filtering criteria for eligibility. Sometime in the 90's, there was some reporting on the Doctor accepted in lieu of Bakke in the landmark Supreme Court case. He had botched some cosmetic surgery so badly he had to take the patient to his home for follow on care, rather than send her to the ER where she could get the care she needed. He was, in short, a hack. Good luck finding that report today in Google's search engine.
Second, affirmative action was saved by Sandra Day O'Connor's social engineering swing vote in 2003. “We expect that 25 years from now, the use of racial preferences will no longer be necessary.” Sandra Day O'Connor, Grutter v. Bollinger, 2003. Grutter is now known as the only Supreme Court case with an expiration date.

George Floyd was not murdered. He died from a self induced drug overdose.

The only Science & Technology in which the entitled race is interested is how to mix a batch of meth. Look at what dumbing down curriculum has done for Harvard and the other Ivy League schools. The last I heard, the diversity and inclusion program at Mensa isn't going so well either.

Can you imagine how the Supreme Court will be deciding politically charged cases once the leftist, progressive, and socialist Democrats gain the majority on the court in the future. Clearly it is an extreme fault in the US Constitution when five politically nominated Justices, either Democrat or Republican, operating as an unelected super legislature can politically control the nation for the rest of their lives by way of their politically based rulings.
