Judge tosses Girl Scouts’ recruitment
suit vs. Boy Scouts

A federal judge rejected Girl Scouts’ claims Thursday that the Boy Scouts created marketplace confusion and damaged their recruitment efforts by using words like “scouts” and “scouting” in recruitment drives. Manhattan Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein ruled the Boy Scouts of America can describe their activities as “scouting” without referring to gender and that the matter does not need to be put to a jury. (snip) In a statement, the Boy Scouts said the ruling had vindicated its position. It noted that 305,000 girls are currently enrolled in its programs and that since full participation was permitted beginning in 2019, more than 2,200 females have become Eagle Scouts.

I did the same, OP. After years of getting sued by parents whose boys got diddled by gay scoutmasters, what did the BSA do? They opened the doors to gay men who wanted to be scoutmasters. Both groups are now shells of what they used to be and didn’t the BSA have to take bankruptcy? What a sad commentary on what this country has become.

My son earned his Eagle in 2003. He hasn't participated with Boy Scouts since then. Of course girls want to join Boy Scouts. Boys ( and girls) earn merit badges. Girls earn participation patches. I never did understand the patch for 'Thinking Day.'

We contributed to the Boy Scouts when our son was in scouting. We did the fund raising and community projects even after our son was finished with scouting. We stopped giving money to the Boy Scouts about five years ago because of all BS with girls being admitted to Boy Scouts along with all the other nonsense including the lawsuits.

When I was young, I spent six summers working as a counselor in a Boy Scout Camp. By the time I was 21 I had spent a year an a half living in a tent. It was a great experience. I have very fond memories of the time spent there. I am very saddened over what has happened to an organization that has contributed so much to young men. I do believe there were a couple gay men in the senior staff but, there were absolutely no incidents of misbehavior that I know of.

The new cynical me thinks this is pretty funny that the Girl Scouts - which began accepting boys who thought they were girls before the Boy Scouts began accepting openly homosexual boys - sued to stop the Boy Scouts for no longer defining themselves as Boys at all, just Scouts, because they very clearly accept girls (and any other gender!) but just don’t insist they are ‘Boy’ Scouts anymore. The Girl Scouts insist they are girls, still lol. I live with great trepidation during Cookie sale seasons and popcorn sale seasons that some poor child will come to our door and I will have to say no, I’m not supporting your organization. It surprisingly hasn’t happened in the last 10 years.

National Review’s Kevin Williamson is urging conservatives to divorce, or at least, separate, for a time, from the Republican Party -- that is, from the Donald Trump-led Republican Party. In a recent column, Williamson claims that what he calls “sensible conservatives” twenty years ago or so “could take a realistic, instrumental view of the GOP and find it reasonably useful for our ends.” But not today. Not when the Republican Party consists of “vulgar” populists and “infantile” nationalists who loathe free trade, free speech, the U.S. military, and libertarians.

Last week Cook Political Report posted an analysis of the House midterm election which said “Both sides see the possibility of a Red Tsunami in 2022.” But the rest of the Cook piece argued that because of redistricting changes 2022 can’t possibly equal a tsunami like the one in 1994 when Republicans won 54 seats. There are simply not as many competitive seats in the House as there used to be. So the author ultimately predicted a more modest wave: Every metric we use to analyze the political environment — the president’s approval rating, the mood of the electorate, the enthusiasm gap — all point to huge gains

Very often, when companies go woke, it turns out that the wokeness is a cover for changing market forces. That is, they're not alienating traditional demographics; they're reflecting that their money is coming from new demographics. When it comes to Hollywood and the NBA, for example, the big bucks are coming from China, not America. And when it comes to Disney, the main profit center isn't children; it's young adults who, Peter Pan–like, refuse to grow up. The brilliant Daniel Greenfield makes this point in an article entitled "Disney's Business Model is Turning Kids into Dysfunctional Adults: Its customer base isn't kids. It's messed up adults."
