British airlines, our own airline pilots, Republican lawmakers and anyone with common sense knows mask mandates on planes are worthless—so why do the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention refuse to “follow the science”?
Last week, the Transportation Security Administration became essentially the last holdout in extending a mask mandate on airplanes and in airports (along with other transportation hubs), as enforcement of the CDC transportation mask mandate. The Texas Public Policy Foundation has sued over that mandate, pointing out that it’s an unconstitutional power-grab, far beyond the powers granted to the CDC by Congress.

In an op-ed piece for NBC News, Cheryl Cooky, professor of American studies and women’s, gender and sexuality studies at Purdue University, likened “Lia” Thomas (formerly Will) to Jackie Robinson. Nothing could be further from the truth.
In fact, Prof. Cooky’s editorial is a slap in the face to female athletes and an insult to the legacy of Jackie Robinson, who courageously broke the color line in professional sports. Yet, according to Cooky, and with reference to Thomas’s blow-out victory in a national swimming competition last week, “For anyone who cares about the advancement of sports, and women's sports in particular, her win should be celebrated.”

We'll get to the CDC changes in a moment. First, we are just beginning to quantify the ongoing damage done by COVID, as well as the harm inflicted by related lockdowns and restrictions. Children and students were particularly hard-hit by the latter phenomenon, as they were overwhelmingly safe from severe outcomes from Coronavirus infections – yet had their learning, development and overall wellbeing aggressively stunted by terrible government policies in many parts of the country. We also know that drug overdoses surged overall, and youth suicide attempts increased, during this stressful period featuring a great deal of social isolation.

Here we go again. Democrats have found yet another opportunity to falsely label their political opposition as racist. The Supreme Court confirmation hearings for Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson began on Monday and the left is already characterizing Republican senators as vicious racists for daring to question her qualifications.
Even Mr. Magoo could have seen this coming from a mile away. Several members of the left-wing chattering class have already started lobbing erroneous accusations of racism at GOP lawmakers for questioning the nominee.

Madeleine Albright, the first female U.S. secretary of state, has died of cancer, her family said Wednesday. She was 84.
President Bill Clinton chose Albright as America’s top diplomat in 1996, and she served in that capacity for the last four years of the Clinton administration.
At the time, she was the highest-ranking woman in the history of U.S. government. She was not in the line of succession for the presidency, however, because she was a native of Czechoslovakia.
“She was surrounded by family and friends,” her family announced on Twitter.

A British feminist told a transgender activist, who is a biological male but identifies as female, not to use women’s spaces, video from the NCAA swimming finals shows.
“At the NCAA swim finals Kellie Jay Keen takes on transgender activist who lived nearly 50 years as a man, fathered three children, and now says ‘I’m a mother,'” Madeleine Kearns of National Review reported.
Keen is the founder of Standing for Women. “This campaign is to focus specifically on the word woman and other female language that clearly defines women and our rights,” the group’s website reads.

First Lady Jill Biden has invited a bunch of congressional spouses for a social event at the White House, which features some of the best food anyone could ever eat.
But anyone who’s unvaccinated won’t get a bite, according to a new report.
“Erika Donalds, wife to freshman Florida Congressman Byron Donalds, a pro-Trump, staunchly conservative Republican, tweeted a screenshot of the first lady’s COVID-19 guidelines for the event, and they’re even more arbitrary and discriminatory than you might expect,” Western Journal reported.
“First Lady Jill Biden was kind enough to invite me & the other Congressional spouses to a reception at the White House,” she wrote on Twitter.

Hollywood celebrities including Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, and Jane Fonda are protesting a Canadian natural gas pipeline that they claim represents a threat to the climate and indigenous rights.
Their demand to defund the pipeline comes as energy prices are soaring around the world, putting a squeeze on working class families and sending a dire ripple effect throughout the global economy. The pipeline at the center of the fight is the Coastal GasLink, which transports natural gas across the Canadian Rockies in British Columbia to the Pacific coast.
Celebrities are putting pressure on Los Angeles-based City National Bank, citing the bank’s parent company, the Royal Bank of Canada,

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that gas prices are painfully high. You also know that the Biden administration is doing nothing to help ease the strain.
The fact of the matter is that Biden’s energy policies — which we can summarize as “just buy an electric vehicle” — have much to do with the high price of gas.
Even though the Biden administration has shut down domestic oil production, various government officials have approached states that are less-than-friendly to the U.S. — like Iran and Venezuela — seeking oil.
But even if the administration still stubbornly refuses to drill for domestic oil,

Despite such a warning, the tweet in question is still available. [Tweet]
The post in part reads:

Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York suggested in a recent social media post that most people "don't really know what capitalism is."
In a Thursday Instagram story, the progressive congresswoman whispered a "secret" to her followers.
"Let me tell you a secret," Ocasio-Cortez said in a whisper. "Most people don't really know what capitalism is. Most people don't even know what socialism is. But most people are not capitalists, because they don't have capitalist money. They're not billionaires."
"The label doesn't matter as much as talking about policies," she continued, still whispering.

Justice Clarence Thomas has been hospitalized after experiencing flu-like symptoms, the Supreme Court announced in a statement.
On Friday evening, Thomas, 73, was admitted to Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C., and has since been diagnosed with an infection, Supreme Court spokeswoman Patricia McCabe said.
According to McCabe, Thomas’s symptoms are abating and he is resting comfortably.
Thomas is expected to be released from the hospital in a day or two, and will “participate in the consideration and discussion of any cases for which he is not present on the basis of the briefs, transcripts, and audio of the oral arguments.”
