A Bowie woman said it took Prince George’s County, Maryland, police over 20 minutes to respond to an unknown man trying to enter her home last Tuesday. They said it was due to staffing shortages.
Kezia Williams was outside her house when a stranger in a Lakers hoodie came onto her lawn. She quickly went inside and called police. “I immediately started to put down the blinds in my house and shut my windows,” Williams told our news partners at NBC Washington. Williams was on the phone with 911 dispatchers, who told her not to trigger an alarm and to wait for police to arrive.(Snip)On Friday, 72 hours after

20 minutes? Heck, she's lucky. In San Antonio the average response time is twice that and they are fully staffed.

This is why I gave my daughter guns and trained them how to use them.

A COVID Police-Defunded area, mandated "anti-vaxer" labor shortage...
....where was it you placed your 12 gauge shotgun, loaded with buckshot?

It would be so much simpler to just leave the front door open and sit inside with a 12 gauge. Problem solved for you and any future victims.

It's usually on TV or the movies when the police show up while a crime is taking place. You know, how they figure out when and where a crime is going to take place, and they show up just in time to save one of their own or a guest star.

5 minutes and don't see lights? Hear sirens? Call back...say
"Take your time, no hurry.... I shot him, don't think he can run anymore"
They will be there in 2 minutes.

If she voted Democrat, which is highly likely, she has no reason to complain.

Kezia experienced how there is a basis in reality for the snarky saying that "when seconds count, the police are just minutes away." Of course, the Liberal solution is to defund the police even further.

In our town the response time is over 45 minutes, if they show up at all. For the most part you only see them handing out speeding tickets. The crimes are logged, pictures taken, and that’s about it. Nothing really gets investigated.

And, which would you rather have in your hands if a criminal breaks down the door......a phone wirh a cop on the line, or a handgun that you know how to use?

Lock and load, fire for center of mass, then call a really good lawyer. Either way, in Liberal Land, life as you know it is over, (expect a statue to the perp to be erected outside your house while you get perp-walked). But at least this way you will still be breathing and will have taken a stand. Want to avoid all that? Move to a deep red state.

Oh so you still want to defund the police? For them for refusing the jab? 22 minutes it’s quicker than calling Dominoes for a couple of pizzas for delivery. Quit complaining and go buy yourself some guns for self defense and lessen how to shoot them. A Glock 9mm with extra magazines and and semi auto 12 ga shotgun should be good for starters. Just the sound of racking a round into a shotgun is enough for most criminals to cut and run.

Was she one of those who advocated for defunding the cops? If so, she's got nerve to whine about it now.

I have always supported law enforcement and I am certainly not on the side of criminals, but as time goes on I wonder about this "serve and protect" business. I am not reassured when I see a police officer, I am afraid of them. They seem to think their main job is picking your pocket for minor traffic violations. By the way, I have a clean record--not even a speeding ticket. We should have never allowed our government to get in the business of nanny surveillance of the public and penalizing us for every minor infraction. I always think to myself that there sure must be some real crime or problems to address. The fact that we have become so accepting of this is part of our problem.

This woman lives in the Peoples’ Republic of Maryland so good luck purchasing a gun. The demographics of PG County make this attempted burglary no surprise at all. And the demographics also make it a certainty that almost everyone who lives there voted for Talibiden.

The first police department in the US were foot patrols in the tenements of 1800's New York City.
Why would anyone expect this model to function in the twenty-first century in suburban America?
