A pandemic boost to food stamp benefits has expired, but recipients are set to see a jump in assistance anyway, due to Congress’ decision in 2018 to review how benefits are calculated. Benefits will jump 27% above pre-pandemic levels in October, the largest increase in history, CNN reported. The spike comes after the Department of Agriculture revised the Thrifty Food Plan, which determines how much a person receives under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Beneficiaries will see an increase of $36 per month, on average. With cost-of-living adjustments, the average monthly benefit will be $169. Advocates for the poor told CNN the Thrifty Family Program

Why not? We're letting millions of Illegal Aliens cross the border. The undesirables are getting money to avoid work. Get lifetime government entitlements for voting Democrats, especially black ones. But most of all, if you're black in America, you're set for life!

I never received FoodStamps or any welfare. Had to put 3 children through College without a red cent from the government.

I wonder how long it would take a person to sit down and make a list of all the free stuff our government gives out.

Back before Trump took office, you could watch at the grocery store and half the people buying groceries were paying with food stamps. After Trump, that changed to almost everyone paying with their own money or debit card. NOW with dim-0s in charge, look for that to change back.
Hide and watch!

They may not have passed the multi-trillion dollar porkulus bill yet but leave it to the guvmint to find more ways to keep the fat folks fatter, dumber and happier. The democrats have never found a parasite they didn't love.

How about a jump in my Social Security? I actually worked for 40 plus years to pay for it and those layabouts on food stamps certainly haven’t.

$169 per month is more than I spend and I can afford to spend as much as I want.

All of food stamp monies are funded by federal income taxes. In 2020, a whopping 61% of Americans paid no federal income taxes. For 2021, the percentage is estimated to drop only to 57%. It's "nice" that lower-economic-tiered people can perhaps eat more (or just continue to eat the same amount but pay the higher prices for the same amount because of inflation), but this program, as well as others, is fiscally unsustainable.
BTW, #11, it's estimated that the 2022 SS COLA will be an increase of 5.6%, the highest jump in many years. Also, have you drawn out all the money (plus a bit more due to interest potentially earned) that you put in? If so, you are now receiving OPM (Other People's Money), AKA welfare, straight up.

Apologize for the double-post, but #11 I am not picking on you. If the average American made $60,000 a year, paid in their 6.2% SS payroll tax for 40 years, and now draws out $1200 a month, they will exhaust the monies they contributed in just 10 years. Currently SSA says they will be "out of money" (their own) by 2035, and after that they can fund just 86% with SS taxes coming in, and will have to use federal income tax money to supplement. It's ALL unsustainable.

I stand to lose my job soon because I will not accept the shot, and thus I'll be ineligible for unemployment for willful disobedience on the job, as defined by Americans. And yet the many freeloaders I've supported all these years, to include anchor babies and refugees, get an extra goose to their benefits because Walmart, Big Snack, Big Soda, et al make a fortune on food stamp clients. Is this a great country or what?
