House Democrats unveiled their plan to legalize millions of illegal immigrants—and to make taxpayers pay billions of dollars to process their applications. Rep. Jerrold Nadler’s proposal, released late Friday, calls for $2.8 billion in federal funds to go to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to help the agency build capacity to handle the surge of paperwork and decision-making expected. USCIS is currently almost entirely fee-funded, under the theory that immigrants should pay their own way. Mr. Nadler’s proposal would subvert that model. The new plan would also kick in the amnesty by May 1, 2022, giving USCIS little time to get up and running.

Members of a 3M committee at headquarters in Maplewood had two big questions to answer in spring of 1978. Did studies showing PFAS chemicals were more toxic to animals than 3M thought pose risks to public health and the environment? Or did research that PFAS were collecting in the bodies of 3M workers pose risks to public health and the environment?(Snip)The failure of 3M and other manufacturers, such as DuPont, to publicly report and deal with potential PFAS problems when they first learned of them is saddling the companies with mounting legal costs because of lawsuits brought by several states and individuals. And it's about to cost U.S. taxpayers

Former President George W. Bush used his 9/11 anniversary speech in Shanksville, Pennsylvania to condemn 'violent extremists abroad and violent extremists at home,' calling them 'children of the same foul spirit.' Bush also used his address to tell veterans and servicemembers that their sacrifices in the War on Teror weren't for nothing.(Snip)'At a time when religious bigotry might have flowed freely, I saw Americans reject prejudice and embrace people of Muslim faith. That is the nation I know,' he said. 'At a time when nativism could have stirred hatred and violence against people perceived as outsiders, I saw Americans reaffirm their welcome to immigrants and refugees.

Of the 27 scientists who wrote a letter in The Lancet medical journal dismissing the possibility that Covid-19 originated from a Wuhan lab, 26 have links to its Chinese researchers, their colleagues or its benefactors, a new investigation has revealed.
On March 7 last year, the influential journal published the letter in which the 27 scientists said they 'strongly condemned conspiracy theories' surrounding the origins of the coronavirus pandemic that has impacted all corners of the world. All debate into whether Covid-19 had man-made origins or leaked from the lab in Wuhan—the Chinese city that was ground-zero for the virus—was effectively shut down

Dr Anthony Fauci has said he would have supported more extreme measures to force Americans to be vaccinated against COVID-19-describing President Joe Biden's plan as 'moderate'. Biden on Thursday announced that all companies employing more than 100 people must insist on either proof of vaccination or regular COVID tests.(Snip)'There are some people who really don't want to get vaccinated but they don't want to lose their job. 'You've got to give them an off lane. And the off-lane is that if you get tested frequently enough and find out you're positive you won't come to work and you won't infect other people.

Queens—A Queens man has been charged with several crimes, including grand larceny and identity theft, after he allegedly filed multiple fake unemployment claims to receive COVID relief funds, authorities said. Keijohn Graham, 21, filed unemployment claims under 13 different names, collecting more than $150,000 from the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program authorized under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economics Security (CARES) Act, according to District Attorney Melinda Katz. “This defendant saw this additional support for the needy as an opportunity to fill his own pockets and filed unemployment claims in various names to collect more than $150,000 in benefits. This fraud during the pandemic costs our country, and our state, billions

The drone strike that the Pentagon claimed killed an ISIS-K suicide bomber in Kabul actually targeted an aid worker who had filled his car with water jugs, rather than explosives, according to a shocking new report. Zemari Ahmadi, 43, was driving the 1996 Toyota Corolla that was destroyed in the August 29 drone strike, killing him and nine family members, including seven children, according to a New York Times investigation. US military still maintain that only three people died, despite the family now detailing in the new report how their 10 relatives were killed in the blast.(Snip)Ahmadi worked for US-based aid group Nutrition and Education International,

The car that U.S. military officials believed was packed with explosives and destined for a suicide bombing at the Kabul airport on Aug. 29 may actually have been driven by an innocent man transporting canisters of water, a new report claims. A New York Times story published Friday afternoon identified the driver of the car as Zemari Ahmadi, 43, who worked as an electrical engineer for an American aid and lobbying group doing business in Afghanistan. The Times cited numerous interviews with family members, relatives and others with knowledge of the Aug. 29 incident, and the new report seems to cast serious doubt on the official version of events

Teenage boys are six times more likely to suffer from heart problems from the vaccine than be hospitalised from Covid-19, a major study has found. Children who face the highest risk of a “cardiac adverse event” are boys aged between 12 and 15 following two doses of a vaccine, according to new research from the US.(Snip)A team led by Dr Tracy Hoeg at the University of California investigated the rate of cardiac myocarditis—heart inflammation–and chest pain in children aged 12-17 following their second dose of the vaccine. They then compared this with the likelihood of children needing hospital treatment owing to Covid-19,

Google has been illegally underpaying thousands of temporary workers in dozens of countries and delayed correcting the pay rates for more than two years as it attempted to cover up the problem, the Guardian can reveal. Google executives have been aware since at least May 2019 that the company was failing to comply with local laws in the UK, Europe and Asia that mandate temporary workers be paid equal rates to full-time employees performing similar work, internal Google documents and emails reviewed by the Guardian show. But rather than immediately correct the errors, the company dragged its feet for more than two years, the documents show, citing concern
