SIOUX CENTER, Iowa — Sen. Tom Cotton said Tuesday that overturning Roe v. Wade may be “the best way” for Americans to handle the divisive issue of abortion. The Arkansas Republican weighed in on a major abortion case that the Supreme Court court will take up in October — one that advocates on both sides of the aisle say could directly challenge Roe v. Wade. This will be the first major abortion case in which all three of former President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court justice appointees participate, including Justice Amy Coney Barrett, who gained a seat on the court after a contentious confirmation process in October.

As do I. The issue should have been left up to the states. Coming up with a quirky offshoot of a Constitutional right made no sense. It was a true case of legislating from the bench.

Roe v Wade should have never been decided at the Federal level. This was always for the states to determine, but an activist SCOTUS decided to make infanticide the law of the land despite overwhelming numbers of people nationwide being against it.
The entire premise that we have to allow it because if we don't people will just perform it in back alleys is the same specious nonsense that is used to justify drug legalization. Again - an issue for the states to decide.
FedGov needs to stay out of anything not specifically enumerated in the Constitution, unless an amendment is passed. Full stop.

With all due respect, this is the least of our worries. The country is going to H-ll in a hand basket under a feeble president and an ignorant VP. Maybe Congress should focus on the crisis at the border.

We certainly be better. Not even animals hurt their young ones.
Killing a defenseless life in the womb just because you could not plan in better, or could not close your legs is barbaric, and not a human value.
Period.

Prediction: The Supreme Court is NOT going to repeal Roe v. Wade. The Court is going to affirm Roe.
Yes, Roe is legislation from the bench. Many Supreme Court opinions are legislation from the bench, which increased under the so called Earl "Warren Court." The Supreme Court often legislates when there's a political problem that needs to be resolved by Congress. but Congress continues to refuse to resolve, such as (currently) Congress - for decades - insisting on either "comprehensive integration reform"' or "nothing" - which is Congress' excuse to do nothing.
Roe v. Wade was decided because the Court believed that an intolerable situation existed whereby some states incarcerated doctors who committed the felony of abortion while other states had so called "abortion mills" - available to those who could afford the costs of traveling and the legal abortion. The Court has no intention of our country going back to those days.

Xiden and his evil cabal have just 2 1/2 months to try to pack the court.
#5, overturning RvW would not send the country back to “those days” because most of the states would keep abortion legal. #2 is correct - this is a state matter not a federal matter.
I hope that Warren and the justices who voted for the atrocity of RvW are sitting alongside Splash Kennedy in the Lake of Fire. They have the blood of 60 million plus innocent lives on their hands.

Roe v Wade was never a job for the supremes...and I'll go one step further... I don't think there should be any law... for or against...it's a private decision for every couple...I'm totally against abortion for myself... and I resent taxpayers footing the bill for planned parenthood..that organization has benefited from the ruling by billions of dollars...and sold baby body parts to the highest bidder...as proven by Veritas on tape... it's a case of follow the money...corporate America won and the precious babies lost...who will fight for them?

We would be better off without the Democrats. The issue is much broader. No one wants to invite scoundrels to a party.

There is a single underlying question from which all abortion arguments proceed: when does a baby acquire those unalienable natural human rights endowed by our Creator, including the right to life, that Jefferson described in the Declaration? In short, when does a baby become human? Or, as I think of it, when does a baby acquire a soul? At conception? At birth? Some time in between? Some time later?
This question may be beyond definitive and final scientific, religious, philosophical, or moral answers, but it cannot be sidestepped. A responsible and defensible balancing of the natural rights of both the baby and the mother cannot be accomplished without first answering this question.
The process of grappling with the question of when a baby becomes human will yield the answer to the abortion issue. And for good or ill that answer will define us.

Roe is almost singularly responsible for the political mess we've endured for the last half century. By 'endowing' the murder of infants in the womb as equal to other God-given rights the Supremes stole the freedom to choose from all of us. And the man who knowingly lied to the Court about the number of back alley abortion deaths now admits to the lie. The success of that lie and the resultant 60 million murders divides us and has made political compromise impossible. Political collegiality is a distant memory and I blame the Court.

A Ruling perpetuated by a couple of smart-ass law students, and a Liberal Court using a poor woman of limited intellect as a patsy. Unconstitutional, immoral, murderous, and neat solution for all those perverts pushing "Free Love".
All they needed was a statue to Baal...

Underlying most of our societal problems, especially homicides, is the decline in the perceived value of human life. I believe Roe is directly responsible for this. If Roe is overturned, is it too late to get that back?

Neither party want Roe v.Wade to be settled, particularly the Commiecrats, as it's a perennial club used to beat the Pubbies on their heads.
Besides, we are in an era when voters think every solution comes from Washington not the states.

As #17 stated, Roe's major impact has been the devaluing of human life. An aborted baby is just another commodity, like pork bellies, to be parted out to the highest bidder. If we are not concerned about the murders happening in the womb, why should we be concerned with the murders happening every day in the black neighborhoods of Demon-rat run cities?
Instead of the womb being the safest 9 months of a person's life, it is a killing field if that precious fertilized egg is determined to be inconvenient. If the body of a pre-born infant has no inherent right to life, no inherent human dignity in its Godly design, then neither does a body born. If the defining state of society is that men and women can control their fertility, they can control all aspects of life. Therefore, men can become women and visa-versa ad infinitum. A person can become a reptile or an animal, they can make up their own pronouns and preferred descriptions. The door to every unholy human pathology conceivable was opened with Roe v Wade and the abasement of human dignity.
Our culture glorifies abortion and mocks motherhood, glorifies random hook-ups and mocks marriage, glorifies personal conscience and mocks God. Yes, women have the right to choose, but that right is exercised at the moment she beds with a man - not when the pregnancy test comes back positive. Legalized abortion has also left in its wake millions of wounded mothers and fathers, who often seek solace in substance abuse, promiscuity and pornography....which leads to multiple abortions. Women and men can no longer trust each other with the total giving of themselves, when the fruit of that giving is killed. All the social pathologies unleashed upon us by Satan's minions have their root in Roe v Wade and legal abortion.

Tom Cotton is right. Make a sexual mistake that results in pregnancy it's OK, the government will pay for the abortion. Kids don't have to ask their parents or tell their parents they are pregnant; they just get an abortion at government expense. Cross the border pregnant, get and abortion at government expense. Don't tell me the government doesn't pay for the abortion, they support Planned Parenthood. Don't tell me the people running Planned Parenthood don't make money off baby body parts. One director of Planned Parenthood admitted selling the baby body parts and showed off her expensive automobile. Get real folks.

Thank you, #20. You can always be counted on to get right to the heart of the matter. You should be writing for our favorite conservative sites, not just here on Lucianne. And I hope that you are.

#13. DNA is the key. The fetus has human DNA from the start. It’s also unique; it’s neither the mother’s nor the father’s so it can’t be “some unwanted and unneeded body part”! It’s as simple as that.
