This Fourth of July holiday we might pause for a moment from our festivities to ask how we collectively lost our minds over the last 15 months—and are we yet regaining any semblance of our sanity?
A pandemic caused by the leak of a Chinese-engineered virus and its coverup was cause enough for nationwide madness. But the spread of COVID–19 was followed by a nationalized and often politicized “flatten-the-curve” quarantine that soon ensured a stir-crazy nation. Tens of millions saw no people, and heard nothing human other than what was fed to them through television and computers. No wonder they grew paranoid, conspiratorial, and angry, and soon forgot the therapeutic

Spectacular piece, even for VDH. Hella depressing, but excellent.

I thank the author for the inventory of the components of our predicament. Now that we are facing our destruction, it would be handy to leave to our possible successors precisely HOW this happened and maybe, if they get a chance to survive the Chinese horde, they'll know better.
There is a set of WHYS out there somewhere.
Perhaps the two full generations of morons graduated by a subverted educational system.
Maybe an inattentive electorate hiring the same politicians repeatedly on a pro forma basis and never wondering how these politicians are becoming multimillionaires on $179K salaries.
Possibly a mass media structure that went from fourth estate to fifth column starting in the 1950's.at the behest of the CIA.
It could be that "deep state" thing we heard so much about that has culminated in an election stolen from the American people. You don't really think that Obama pulled his own strings or that Soros operates without guidance, do you?
All I know, my country is being destroyed from the inside out and I don't see a way to stop it.

VDH has drunk the Kool-Aid. Stanford, what do you expect.
He has, sadly, been infected by the NoCal worldview despite all the idyllic reflections on the Central Valley.
America will cast off these shackles and return.
VDH has cast himself into the dustbin of history and the trash collectors have gone on strike, so it will stink at the bottom of his driveway.

Lots of columns from conservative pundits enumerating what’s gone wrong for the past 18 months but not one offering a solution. I’ve just read Harry Stein’s latest book, Will Tripp Goes Hollywood and he may have one that works. It’s an hilarious fictional account of a dwarf lawyer attacking the woke industry in Hollywood, He hits on the idea of a class action suit for all those who’ve been cancelled for their non pc comments. Hasn’t anybody realized that the cancel culture is against the 1st amendment? Let’s hit them in their pocketbooks.

Exactly as #6 states! So much talking, same word salad differently configured, over and over. A LOT of talking and not even a plan for action, much less action...except for these sheriffs who are using their powers to resist federal gun laws.

Help me out: Is VDH wrong here?
As for "solutions," since they can, have and will steal elections at all levels of government, and own the FBI, CIA, DOJ and increasingly the military brass, sadly, there is only one.

At some point, will our esteemed authors stop telling us how bad it is and focus on what to do about it? If we no longer believe in the First Amendment, then we're no better than the communist loving progressives

To those of you demanding that VDH and others give a solution have you considered that maybe they can’t spell it out for you because the consequences would be dire for their ability to communicate with the public afterwards? That they would be fired, deplatformed and ruined? However, nobody that I am, I have a suggestion - those of us who fear for the future of the Republic must refuse to pay taxes and refuse, as much as possible, to buy non-essential goods made in China or any other hostile country. We need to start a grassroots movement to refuse paying taxes come next spring.
