In the first public accounting of its kind in decades, an Associated Press investigation has found that at least 1,900 U.S. military firearms were lost or stolen during the 2010s, with some resurfacing in violent crimes. And that’s certainly an undercount. Government records covering the Army, Marine Corps, Navy and Air Force show pistols, machine guns, shotguns and automatic assault rifles have vanished from armories, supply warehouses, Navy warships and elsewhere. These weapons of war disappeared because of security failures that, until now, have not been publicly reported, including sleeping troops and a surveillance system that didn’t record.(Snip) While AP’s focus was firearms, military explosives also

Southwest Airlines grounded flights across the country Tuesday for the second time in less than 24 hours, amid reports of nationwide computer issues. Air travelers took to Twitter by the thousands with reports of what airline staff reportedly told them was a computer system outage — hours after “intermittent performance issues” with a third-party weather app forced a similar group stop Monday night. “We are aware of system issues and are working quickly to resolve. We will share more info soon,” Southwest posted on its official Twitter account at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Airline operations resumed shortly before 4 p.m., Southwest said in a statement.

The FBI has warned that more QAnon conspiracy theorists may be driven to violence and even feel obligated to attack Democrats they believe to be members of a purported cabal of satanic child traffickers. The predictions appear in an unclassified, two-page threat assessment on QAnon prepared by the FBI and U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Intelligence and Analysis that became public Monday. The assessment, dated June 4, said the involvement of QAnon adherents in the storming of the U.S. Capitol “will continue to act as a catalyst for some to begin accepting the legitimacy of violent action.”(Snip) QAnon originated in late 2017 and

Men and women alike are up in arms after it was revealed that a scene showing Batman performing oral sex was cut from the adult animated HBO Max series Harley Quinn—because, according to DC Entertainment executives, 'heroes don't do that.' Harley Quinn co-creator and executive producer Justin Halpern told Variety this week about the deleted scene, saying that it showed Batman 'going down on Catwoman'—but they were forced to nix the moment after DC told them they 'absolutely cannot do that' because it wasn't something that heroes do. Social media users have taken issue not with the fact that the scene

This is the moment cops appear to do nothing amid a drive-by shooting in Atlanta as residents of the wealthy Buckhead area say it's a 'warzone' and demand to secede. The video, which was played on Tucker Carlson Tonight, shows people lining up near a dark-colored van that is parked on the side of the road when a white car passes by and shots ring out, with one going straight through the dark van, striking one of the passersby and sending people scrambling. A few seconds later, blue lights could be seen reflecting off the windshield of the black van, symbolizing police cars passing by

House and Senate Republicans introduced bills on Monday that would bar federal funds from being used to teach The New York Times’ “1619 Project.”
The measures are unlikely to pass the Democratic-run Congress, but the bills reflect mounting opposition to effort inform school curriculums with the newspaper series, which reframed U.S. history with a focus on slavery and racism as the defining characteristic of the American experience. “Activists in schools want to teach our kids to hate America and hate each other using discredited, Critical Race Theory curricula like the 1619 Project. Federal funds should not pay for activists to masquerade as teachers and indoctrinate our youth,”

President Biden on Monday wouldn’t repeat his assertion that Russian President Vladimir Putin is a “killer,” calling him a “worthy adversary” as he prepares for a showdown with Mr. Putin in Geneva on Wednesday.
Speaking at a press conference at NATO headquarters in Belgium, the president said he will seek areas of cooperation with Mr. Putin, after Moscow’s interference in U.S. elections, cyberattacks originating in Russia and human-rights violations.(Snip) Asked if he still believes Mr. Putin is a “killer,” as he stated in March, Mr. Biden paused for an awkwardly long time before giving a forced laugh. He noted that Mr. Putin also laughed

Vice President Kamala Harris was met by protesters offering her directions to the southern border on Monday as she embarked on the first day of her nationwide COVID-19 vaccination tour in South Carolina. In Greenville, Ms. Harris’ motorcade drove past demonstrators holding signs that said “Border is That Way” and “Trump won.” En route to her second stop, the vice president passed protesters shouting “go to Texas” and holding signs that said, “Trump is still our Prez.” Ms. Harris, who is leading the administration’s effort to stop the surge of illegal migrants, said after a trip to Central America last week that she will visit

The Department of Homeland Security will speed up work permits for tens of thousands of illegal immigrants who claim they are victims of crime, the department announced Monday, saying the current wait, which can last up to five years, is too long to make people remain in economic limbo. More than 160,000 people were waiting for the victim visa, officially known as the U visa, as of December. Under the new rules, U visa applicants can be awarded work permits and deferred action, which is an official amnesty for deportation, once they have filed their petition, had their fingerprints taken and are deemed to have made

Joe Biden repeatedly confused Syria with Libya while discussing ways of working with Russia during a press conference at the G7 on Sunday.
The 78-year-old gaffe machine spoke of working with Vladimir Putin to provide economic assistance to the people of Libya, prompting some confused glances from the press pack at the G7 summit in Cornwall, England.
'I'm hopeful that we can find an accommodation where we can save the lives of people in—for example, in—in Libya,' the president said, mentioning the north African country for the third time instead of Syria, which is in the Middle East. The White House later brushed the confusion off,

The video of a Springfield teacher calling a student names—including "straight jerk," "butthead" and "pain in my butt"—during a testy exchange over unicorn cupcakes has been making the rounds on social media. The 59-second clip shot May 27, 2021, in a Pershing Middle School classroom has been posted to Facebook, Twitter and blogs. It also caught the attention of state Sen. Eric Burlison, who issued a statement Friday. The teacher is no longer working for the district.(Snip) It is unknown, based on the clip, what the teacher said when she presented the treats. No, not Legacy Americans who've been victimized by illegal aliens, or are forced to pay taxes to support them, or who have had their wages reduced because illegal aliens depress wages, because Legacy Americans do not count. Instead, Homeland Security is helping illegal aliens who've been victimized by other illegal aliens right here in Aztlàn, formerly known as the USA. This is how it must have felt when the Soviet Union was collapsing.
