Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan posthumously pardoned 34 lynching victims who were killed across the state between 1854 and 1933, saying the historic move is an attempt to “right these horrific wrongs.” Hogan on Saturday issued the blanket pardons for the 34 victims—including a 15-year-old black boy who was hanged by a white mob in 1885—because they were denied legal process and equal protection of law, marking the first such move by a governor of a US state. “Today, we are once again leading the way as we continue the work to build a more perfect union,” the Republican governor said.

I'm guessing far more white and Asian 7-11 workers have been killed by black criminals in the last 50 years than were ever lynched.
How about a little "justice" for them!!!!

Tens of thousands of dead Civil War soldiers are waiting for their pardons. This was a really REALLY stupid gesture.

This is confusing. How can someone be pardoned when they were never convicted? (I'm aware of preemptive pardons, a la Nixon, but this is different. This is grandstanding by the governor = or gallows standing.)

From "Should Black People Tolerate This?," by Walter E. Williams,
May 23, 2012. "Each year, roughly 7,000 blacks are murdered. Ninety-four percent of the time, the murderer is another black person. … The magnitude of this tragic mayhem can be viewed in another light. According to a Tuskegee Institute study, between the years 1882 and 1968, 3,446 blacks were lynched at the hands of whites."

Sounds to me like he is perpetuating the 'Whitey is Bad' narrative.
Instead of letting 'Time Heals All Wounds', I predict this will continue to stoke racial divides for decades to come.
In the words of Booker T. Washington, who was born a slave and elevated himself to become the first president of the Tuskeegee Institute:
“There is another class of coloured people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs – partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.”

Hogan is an arsehole. This Trump hating idiot is the definition of Rino. He is the exact opposite of what the Republican voters, and this country needs or wants. However, he is exactly what a leftist state like Maryland would call a good Republican. Any REAL conservative wouldn't have a prayer of getting elected in Maryland.

And this helps one single impoverished innocent black person living in a hellhole of violent young black men how?

and that will help exactly how? Will those people come back? Concentrate on what the government is doing to people today by collapsing our economy, making us helpless setting us up for control by China

You really do have to be a good bit unhinged to be worrying about events that happened 167 years ago.
Leftism is a serious mental disorder.

Do these fools not have something better to do ? Like cook breakfast and fold the laundry. The toughest part is either pancakes or matching socks. Pancake might be a bit difficult, just take your time.

That's right, Hogan. We all know that blacks NEVER commit any crimes. They are totally peace-loving.
And I am sure Hogan did the research to definitively say that all 34 that were hung were unquestionably innocent, and that this wasn't just pandering to those of a certain racial persuasion.

What a total fool. Respect the people and the times of the past. We cannot know all that was happening, and can only try to learn from the past.

Is there anything less helpful than a Good Republican? Regular bias attacks right now by bLACK people against innocent bystanders, when not attacking their own, are not to be discussed. Lynchings, probably most if not all of them done against people who were guilty, and which were done against white people as well, need to be kept in the spotlight so as to keep bLACK people angry and demonize WHITE people.
