This week’s indictment of 18 reputed gang members not only solved the infamous slaying of a 1-year-old Brooklyn boy, it nailed those responsible for three more murders and a slew of other shootings, authorities say. Members of the Hoolies gang allegedly murdered a total of four victims and left nine more wounded while unleashing mayhem across Bedford-Stuyvesant amid a deadly turf war with the rival 900 gang. Seven people—the majority of the 13 shot—were innocent bystanders caught up in the violence that the remorseless Hoolies allegedly perpetrated—and later celebrated in posts on Facebook and Instagram, as well as in music videos

A New York mom is caught between a rock and an appellate court. The upstate woman has been told she needs to ditch a driveway decoration painted with a confederate flag or risk losing custody of her mixed race child—even though a family court judge didn’t consider it to be an issue when it was raised during trial. “Given that the child is of mixed race, it would seem apparent that the presence of the flag is not in the child’s best interests, as the mother must encourage and teach the child to embrace her mixed race identity, rather than thrust her into a world

China released a greater volume of greenhouse gases into Earth's atmosphere in 2019 than all of the world's developed nations put together, a study has found. The eastern superpower has tripled its emission levels since the 1990s, crossing the 14 gigatons threshold for the first time ever in 2019.
Emission estimates for 190 nations across the globe were calculated by experts from research firm Rhodium Group in tandem with Breakthrough Energy.
The analysis considered six greenhouse gases—carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, hydrofluorocarbons, perfluorocarbons, and sulphur hexafluoride. Global emissions have risen 11.4 per cent in the last decade to reach 52 gigatons of carbon dioxide equivalent

The CEO of a major cruise line has expressed concern regarding a new law in Florida that bans businesses from asking whether employees and customers have been vaccinated against coronavirus. “In Florida, your personal choice regarding vaccinations will be protected and no business or government entity will be able to deny you services based on your decision,” Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis said in a statement. Senate Bill 2006, which was signed into law on Monday, also prohibits requiring any sort of COVID-19 or vaccine passports. Frank Del Rio, the CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, acknowledged that while Florida is the cruise capital of the world,

The administration on Friday authorized $21.6 billion for emergency rental assistance to help prevent evictions during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Treasury Department announced. Treasury said the money will come from the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan signed into law by President Biden in February. New guidance issued Friday said the aid “must be offered directly to renters when landlords do not accept direct payment.” The move comes after a federal judge in Washington ruled this week that an eviction moratorium imposed by the Centers for Disease Control was not authorized by federal law. The administration is appealing that ruling. Treasury said the $21.6 billion

The Republican Party cannot “move forward” without former President Donald Trump, Sen. Lindsey Graham is claiming in a new interview. Speaking to Fox News’ “Hannity” Thursday evening, Graham (R-SC) made the comments amid internal squabbles over the 45th president’s role in the future of the GOP, coming to a head as Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) appears poised to oust Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) as House GOP Conference chair. “I would just say to my Republican colleagues, can we move forward without President Trump? The answer is no,” Graham said before bringing up Cheney directly. “I’ve always liked Liz Cheney,

House Republican Conference Chair Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.)—who is facing possible ouster from her leadership position next week—quietly orchestrated a Washington Post op-ed by 10 living former defense secretaries cautioning that then-President Trump might attempt to politicize the military, according to a report. The op-ed, published three days before the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, was signed by Trump’s former Defense Secretary James Mattis, as well as Cheney’s father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, and fellow ex-Pentgagon chiefs Ashton Carter, William Cohen, Mark Esper, Robert Gates, Chuck Hagel, Leon Panetta, William Perry and Donald Rumsfeld. Another massive brawl broke out at Miami International Airport on Wednesday just one week after passengers were seen beating each other at the D gates.
The fight this week began when two women started yelling at each other on the plane. One woman is heard screaming, “I’m not even in my regular seat, so I don’t give a [expletive]!” The passengers were kicked off the plane and a brawl erupted in the boarding area. A very large man in a yellow sweatshirt is seen grabbing a man by his neck, throwing him to the ground and dragging him. A woman with a blonde weave got taken down

The Biden administration is reframing the migrant crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border, saying the influx results not from any White House actions, but rather from climate change in Central America’s Northern Triangle of El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. Vice President Kamala Harris, who has been tasked with leading the White House’s response to the crisis, made the argument this week during a speech before the Conference of the Americas in Washington. “The citizens of El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras are leaving their homes at alarming rates.(Snip) One of those root causes, according to the vice president, was “the lack of climate adaptation and climate resilience”

These relics of the past are coming back to haunt Gen Z. Disturbed TikTok users are sharing videos of themselves finding rusty old razor blades behind their bathroom mirrors. The discoveries are a result of small slots found in medicine cabinets seen in homes built before the 1970s.(Snip) In one of her TikTok videos, Knight took viewers on a tour of her 1950s-style home. One commenter suggested that she may have a razor hole in her bathroom. She then showed users that in her medicine cabinet, there was a small opening labeled “Used razor blade disposal.” More than 150 people have used

San Francisco—After much thought and discussion, I've decided to share a shocking video of the moment two Asian senior women, ages 65 and 85, were stabbed along Market Street in San Francisco this week. I obtained this video through sources and spent a great deal of time debating whether or not to release it to the public. I was also provided an image of the x-ray showing the weapon used. It was still inside Mrs. Chui Fong's body at the time it was taken.(Snip) This was not a stabbing involving a pocket knife. It was a serrated blade larger than Mrs. Fong's arm.
