President Biden has picked the wife of an extremely influential U.S. senator for a federal commission post, the White House announced Friday.
Biden nominated Gayle Conelly Manchin to co-chair the Appalachian Regional Commission, an economic development partnership with 13 states designed to boost investment in the Appalachian Region.
Manchin is an educator, past president of West Virginia's State Board of Education and the former first lady of West Virginia. She's been married for 53 years to Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., a critical vote in the Senate for Biden if he wants to get any of his major legislative priorities passed.

Let's not jump to conclusions.
Mrs. Mancini was nominated to a plush, no-show job - - but - - maybe she hasn't told Mr. Mancini about it. So how would that influence his vote?

With a masters degree in literacy and as a former state secretary of education she is expertly qualified to be a commissar on the economic development commission due her close acquaintance with Senator Manchin. Citizens, quit voting for incumbents. The newbe might not be any better but at least the money will be spread around.

The Manchins will get very rich off of this. If Senator Manchin brings the pork back to WV, he will have a job for life.

Anyone still think Joe Manchin is a moderate who might flip to the Republicans? Not going to happen.

Salary is upwards of $160,000 annually, according to the Washington Times. I am shocked, shocked that Boy Joey would put an stale WHITE biological woman in that slot instead of a Homosexual Of Color. None dare call this bribery because USA is corrupt to the core, deserving of no more respect than we'd accord any other banana republic.

First, a quick political history lesson for you people.
The ARC was created, almost as a joke, by LBJ, to buy hillbilly votes. And to the amusement of sophisticated, urbane New Yorkers, New York State was declared to be part of Appalachia.
The image of the barefooted fat guy in bib overalls, playing his banjo on the front porch, with his hound dog at his feet, in NY, doesn't quite register, hey?
and the budget of the ARC covers the salaries and perks of bureaucrats and commissioners, and not much else.

As for the payment to the Manchins, the mafia used to call that 'vigorish.' google it.

Actually, the way Prince Andrew has treated the Southern Tier of NY we are a big part of Appalachia. As a matter of fact there is a town called Apalachin just over the Tioga County line,, Seriously, We all could be Jed Clampetts right now if Prince Andrew hadn't screwed up fracking in these here parts. The best part of the Marcellus Shale is right under our feet.

Jesse Unruh, famous California Democrat politician, was once quoted as saying "..if you take their money, drink their booze and s---w their woman and but can't tell them "no" in the morning, you don't belong here (Sacramento)." Modern politicians don't have "no" in their vocabulary unlike corrupt but honestly corrupt Jesse Unruh. Manchin's vote on the filibuster is gone.
