Loved her in Teachers Pet where she subdues Clark Gable. Wholesome image well deserved. Won´t repeat Oscar Levant´s comment which is a classic. Wish Hollywood had more like her. RIP.

Doris Day lived a wonderful long life. People who live to her age usually do so because of one very important fact: they´ve been fortunate on the health front. No major illness is a major bonus as you age and your body becomes less able to fight off infections.

As for her Hollywood career, she will be remembered for her box office successes that stemmed from her talents in acting and singing. Many today will be singing Que Sera Sera as a tribute to this icon.

What an era that has passed. Her movies were fun, albeit kind of silly and today they would be politically incorrect. When I was a very young teenager, my parents had an album of different singers, one of whom was Doris Day. This album featured "Sentimental Journey", and I loved it the first time I heard it. It is unforgettable, my favorite version.

Other than a her talent which was amazing, she also had the best body in show business. I remember reading a comment by a contemporary of hers stating that and saying she had a posterior that you could balance a tray on. Check her out in a sheath!

Loved, loved, loved Doris Day. I don’t care how gay he was, my favorite movie was Pillow Talk with Rock Hudson. I also loved Love Me or Leave Me, with James Cagney, and the one with Rex Harrison in which he was trying to drive her insane. Thanks for all you gave us, Ms. Day. You will be remembered with love. As a Teen in the 50´s, I adored Doris Day! I LOVED all of her movies, but especially loved the Rock Hudson (I swooned over him, not knowing what "gay"even was at the time) Doris Day movies! He was Gorgeous and every Teen girl wanted him to be Hers! So, we later in life learned what "Gay" really meant and that our Hunky guy was one of "Them". Broke a lot of Hearts! But Doris Day, she was Beautiful, Fresh, Funny and could sing on top of all that! She will be Sadly missed!

A sad day. She was a classy lady, and tough as nails. Beautiful voice, too.

It’s fun to think about what else she might have been: when she made a movie with Ronald Reagan, they had quite a torrid affair. They were both divorced at the time, and he evidently considered asking her to marry him. He was thinking about politics even back then, and told one of his friends that if his speeches didn’t go over well he could just bring her out on stage to sing! Heck, she would have been the First Lady.

RIP, Doris. We’ll miss you.

Back in the day that I worked for Xerox in Hollywood, I had the pleasure to meet a good number of the Hollywood elite. Back then, most were really decent people.

Then I ran into Doris Day. I had always enjoyed her movies from the fifties and sixties. But the time I had a run in with her she had a production company at the Metro Media complex just off of the 101 (the Hollywood Freeway) just off Santa Monica Blvd. This woman´s screech was enough to make your skin crawl.

Some poor SOB did something that displeased Ms. Day and she acted like Hitler on his worse day. Lost all respect for her that day.

But unlike a lot of people, she did live a long life.

Rare that everyone did love her and when Hollywood deemed her to old at 40 to star in movies, it was their decision not the public´s.I do wish she had recorded more in her later years. The music she did record was often over orchestrated and now one might miss what a great voice and style she really had. No less then Elia Fitzgerald said that Doris could have song jazz, and that her voice was one of the best.

Grading students, asking them to show their work, requiring participation and even pushing them to get the right answer are depicted in the workbook as harmful to minorities.

Cornell University has introduced an astronomy course to explore the connection between the term black holes and “racial blackness” — proof, say critics, that even the hard sciences aren’t immune to universal “racial hysteria.”The course, titled “Black Holes: Race and the Cosmos,” uses work from black studies theorists, artists and fiction writers to challenge “conventional wisdom” about the role that race plays in astronomy.“Conventional wisdom would have it that the ‘black’ in black holes has nothing to do with race. Surely there can be no connection between the cosmos and the idea of racial blackness. Can there?” reads the college catalog description.
