House Republicans Propose Fees For Asylum Seekers

Original Article

Republicans in Congress have proposed charging asylum seekers $1,000 to gain entry into the United States. The proposal is part of a 116-page bill released by the House Judiciary Committee on Monday, which Republicans are seeking to include in a larger package implementing President Donald Trump’s agenda, The New York Times reported. If passed, the Republicans’ proposal would mark the first time the United States charged migrants to claim asylum from countries where they face persecution. The money generated by the asylum claims would go toward securing the southern border.

Bad idea. Asylum is entry permitted for humanitarian reasons and charging a fee would be what Dems think the GOP is all about.

There are a lot, a lot of phony asylum claims. I would like them to fine tune this idea in a way that would REALLY discourage all the fraud that goes on.

Here is what really needs to be done. All asylum seekers would be required to have a sponsor who would guarantee to care for them and provide for their needs. No asylum seekers would be eligible for any form of government payments for any reason. The soft-hearted champions of immigration for all would have a chance to put their money where their mouth is and step up to support those that they say they care so much about. For those who don't know, this is how it used to be. My parents came to the US under a program for refugees from Communist Countries back in the 1950's. They did not get a penny of government assistance and in fact never got any for their entire lives. Instead they worked and paid taxes until they retired in their 70s.

Amal Clooney could be barred from entering the United States — where she lives with her Oscar-winning husband, George, and their daughters — for her role in influencing the International Criminal Court to charge Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant with war crimes in Gaza. The UK Foreign Office warned several senior barristers that they could be slapped with sanctions by the Trump administration for their involvement in the controversial case that saw the ICC issue arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant in November, the Financial Times reported. Trump, 78, ordered ICC officials, employees and their immediate family members

Daily Caller senior editor Amber Duke perfectly turned the tables on a Democrat who called in to a C-SPAN show and tried to accuse her outlet of being racist. John from Plainfield, New Jersey, said his question to Duke on C-SPAN’s “Washington Journal” on Sunday was, “Why we, as African Americans, should trust conservative media and Donald Trump?” “I just don’t think ya’ll fair, and I personally feel that you want to bring back Jim Crow,” he asserted.

Donald Trump totally humiliated disgraced Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in a made-for-TV moment in Michigan. While speaking to Michigan National Guardsmen on Tuesday, the president spotted Whitmer in the crowd. 'I want to thank Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer," Trump said. 'You know, I'm not supposed to do that. She's a Democrat. They say, don't do that, don't have her here. I said, 'no, she's going to be here... she's done a very good job.' He then called her up in what appeared to be a spur-of-the-moment decision. 'Well, I hadn't planned to speak...' she replied in a cringeworthy moment. 'But on behalf of all the men and women who have served...

The U.S. Department of the Treasury has blocked its first improper payment requests using a new automated payment verification system spearheaded by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). DOGE announced Tuesday that Treasury identified and rejected $334 million in improper payment requests due to missing budget codes, invalid budget codes, and budget codes with no authorization. Invalid budget codes include budgets that had already been fully spent. Unauthorized codes refer to payments not linked to the budget. Prior to DOGE’s intervention, the Treasury’s accounting code was optional for the $4.7 Trillion in payments that go out each year, making traceability almost impossible

Something is “very, very wrong” in Beijing right now, according to foreign policy expert Gordon Chang, who is signaling more “end-of-regime conduct” coming out of Xi Jinping’s China. “At a time when China needs friends because it’s not selling goods to the US, it is going out of its way to antagonize not just the Philippines, not just Taiwan, but also South Korea and Australia,” Chang, a senior fellow with the Gatestone Institute, said on “Mornings with Maria” Monday. “This shows that… this is end-of-regime conduct, because Xi Jinping, he can’t appear to be giving in to the US,” he added.

President Trump’s promised renovation of the White House Rose Garden will begin in a “couple of weeks,” chief of staff Susie Wiles told The Post Tuesday. The president has been keen on revamping the executive mansion to be more functional — and to adhere more closely to his personal style. Trump has already redone the Oval Office, adding gold embellishments from Mar-a-Lago and lining the walls with portraits of presidents — but has also made plans to pave the grass portion of the Rose Garden and add a ballroom. “He’s not going to pave over the Rose Garden. The Rose Garden will look exactly as it does,” Wiles clarified

The first 100 days of President Donald Trump’s second administration have revealed at least one unmistakable truth. In short, the federal judiciary poses a serious threat to the freedom of the American people. On Monday, according to The Washington Times, the U.S. Supreme Court announced that it would not take up a case involving a challenge to a sweeping and patently unconstitutional California gun-control law. Incredibly, California law bans gun shows on state property, including fairgrounds. The plaintiffs in B&L Productions v. Gavin Newsom had asked SCOTUS to provide relief by blocking the law — already upheld by the notoriously liberal 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals — and then hearing arguments. But

The Trump White House is amazing. They know how to outmaneuver, humiliate, and expose the legacy press at every turn. They lined the White House property with illegal aliens they’ve apprehended, which would be present for every media hit the major outlets have outside the briefing room. To combat this, some outlets, like CNN, have blurred the faces of the criminal scum. This reaction, however, is not shocking. It's very predictable, especially for a virulently anti-Trump network like CNN.

The footage showed multiple passengers barging past barriers to trade blows. At one point, a man was shoved to the floor before a handful of others started violently pummeling him.

A freak weather incident was blamed on Monday for a massive power cut that affected the entire Iberian Peninsula, depriving Spain and Portugal of electricity. However, this narrative was quickly questioned by energy industry insiders, and Spain’s national energy company now acknowledges that renewable power failure may have been a contributing factor.

A bill that would decriminalize welfare fraud under $25,000 in California for simple administrative errors is being pushed by a Democratic lawmaker. State Sen. Lola Smallwood-Cuevas introduced Senate Bill 560, which would delete criminal penalties for welfare fraud below $25,000, and delete a provision for criminal penalties for any attempt at welfare fraud below $950, according to the legislation, which was introduced in February. "California’s safety net should lift families up, not trap them in poverty," Smallwood-Cuevas told Fox News Digital. "Right now, a missed deadline or paperwork mistake can lead to felony charges that tear families apart — even when there’s no intent to deceive."

And Trump has not been twiddling his thumbs in these first months back in the Oval Office. There’s plenty to like or dislike, from his large number of executive orders to his federal cost-cutting bonanza with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. So, it’s telling that a recent poll shows the vast majority of Trump supporters would vote for him again now, if given the opportunity for a do-over.

If you peruse the mainstream media’s headlines, you’d think Milwaukee Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan was some sort of saint, a noble fighter against tyranny and oppression. (Snip) What these outlets fail to note is that Dugan violated the law by helping an illegal alien escape from her courthouse to avoid ICE. She was arrested by the FBI for that specific crime, not because they were trying to “silence” her. “No one is above the law,” isn’t that what the Democrats say? Well, reality has caught up with the rogue jurist as the Wisconsin Supreme Court suspended her Tuesday:

It wasn’t long ago that a California governor made it clear that oil refineries were not welcome in his state. Then another California governor asked regulators to loosen the chains on refineries to ensure that they will be profitable and remain in the state that every day burns an enormous volume of gasoline. Actually, it is the same governor, one who has turned his attention from playing to his hard-left, blue-state constituency to shifting toward the middle for a 2028 White House run. It was just last summer when Gov. Gavin Newsom announced a “plan to prevent Big Oil ‘profit spikes’” that would also “save Californians money at the pump.”
