Florida Republican defeats Democrat in
US House special election

Republican State Senator Randy Fine has defeated Democrat Josh Weil in a closely watched special Florida congressional election to fill the seat held by National Security Advisor Michael Waltz. The result dashes Democratic hopes of pulling what would have been a stunning upset in a district that Donald Trump carried by 30 points in last November's presidential election. The narrow margin of Fine's victory on Tuesday, however, is likely to leave Republicans uneasy about their prospects in next year's national mid-term congressional elections. Democrat Weil made waves by raising more than $12m in campaign donations during this campaign, compared to the approximately $1m brought

Angry democrats are motivated to vote in a special elections; satisfied republicans, not so much. With that in mind the republican party got proactive and "whipped" the needed votes. It was smart and it worked.

Special elections and open seats tend to be closer. A win is a win. And two wins are two wins.

I am in that district and held my nose and voted for Randy Fine. He is a rino who pushed against Gov DeSantis in the Florida house about immigration. But the dems were really aggressive, even going door to door in my neighborhood. I got so tired of seeing the dem’s signs on my street that I put up a Fine sign. Glad the election is done but not surprised it was closer than it should have been.

Weil was fueled by a bunch of out of state money. Democrats can't even buy an election these days. When ActBlue runs dry, they are dead.

Narrow margin my arse! 14% is not narrow. Yet that was the storyline going into the vote,so I guess the BBC feels they need to continue gaslighting us.

Same thing in Wisconsin. Brad Schimel lost but it is my understanding there were people who could not get ballots. Remember, in the 2016 election, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania had to do recounts. Look at the special election in Pennsylvania last month with the Democrat winning. Starting to see where the problems are. . .just think, Susan Crawford had a lot of commercials that were full of lies about Brad Schimel. Her "win" is just as phony as Joe Biden/Kamala Harris win in 2020.

NEW YORK — Financial markets around the world are reeling Thursday following President Donald Trump’s latest and most severe volley of tariffs, and the U.S. stock market may be taking the worst of it. The S&P 500 was down 4% in morning trading, worse than the drops for other major stock markets. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 1,520 points, or 3.6%, as of 10:10 a.m. Eastern time, and the Nasdaq composite was 4.0% lower. Little was spared as fear flared globally about the potentially toxic mix of higher inflation and weakening economic growth that tariffs can create. Everything from crude oil

LOS ANGELES, California — Consumers in Los Angeles County were shocked Tuesday as a new quarter-percent sales tax, ostensibly to raise funds for services for the homeless, went into effect following a referendum in November. L.A. voters passed Measure A, which replaced and increased an earlier county-wide sales tax for the homeless. That tax, passed a decade ago, failed to stem the growth of the homeless population and may even have encouraged it. As Breitbart News reported in November: The UK Sun noted the effect of the tax on consumers’ pocketbooks: The sales tax went up from 9.5% to 9.75% to increase funding to prevent homelessness.

There are two stories here. Once is the ongoing wave of vandalism and domestic terrorism by left-wing nutjobs and the other is the silence of Democrats. Neither of these stories is really breaking news at this point, but I haven't stopped caring and I don't think our readers have either. So on that note, let's just go over a few acts of vandalism and the people who've been either identified as suspects or already arrested. Apparently these people don't understand that Tesla's have lots of cameras. In Boston, a woman was captured on video throwing a brick through the window of a Tesla.

A group of Republican senators voted along with Democrats on Wednesday for a resolution to undo President Trump’s 25 percent tariffs on Canadian imports, dealing an embarrassing blow to Trump. The resolution expresses the sense of the Senate and doesn’t have the force of law, but its 51-48 passage is unwelcome news for the president on the very day he announced a host of new tariffs. Four Republicans — Sens. Rand Paul (Ky.), Susan Collins (Maine), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Mitch McConnell (Ky.) — voted for the measure. They voted to express their disapproval of Trump’s tariffs on Canada

President Donald Trump announced at a White House event on Wednesday that he is imposing a baseline 10 percent levy on all imports and reciprocal tariffs on the “worst offender” countries that tariff U.S. goods at a higher rate. For every tariff another country has imposed on the U.S., the administration will slap what he called a “discounted reciprocal tariff” that amounts to half that country’s rate on American exports. “Because we are being very kind,” Trump said during his announcement in the Rose Garden, “we will charge them approximately half of what they are — and have been — charging us.”

President Donald Trump has told his inner circle, including members of his Cabinet, that Elon Musk will be stepping back in the coming weeks from his current role as governing partner, ubiquitous cheerleader and Washington hatchet man. The president remains pleased with Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency initiative, but both men have decided in recent days that it will soon be time for Musk to return to his businesses and take on a supporting role, according to three Trump insiders who were granted anonymity to describe the evolving relationship. Musk’s looming retreat comes as some Trump administration insiders and many outside allies have become frustrated with his unpredictability and increasingly

A Manhattan judge on Wednesday dismissed the federal corruption charges levied against New York City Mayor Eric Adams last fall, partially granting the Trump-era Department of Justice’s request to drop the case. U.S. District Judge Dale Ho, who presided over the Democratic mayor’s case in the Southern District of New York, permanently dismissed the charges in a highly anticipated decision. In February, the DOJ ordered federal prosecutors to stop pursuing the case and subsequently asked the judge to dismiss the case without prejudice. That would have allowed prosecutors to refile charges against Adams in the future if the DOJ wanted to do so.

The abrupt withdrawal last year of President Joe Biden as the Democratic presidential nominee, followed rapidly by his replacement with Vice President Kamala Harris, irked many voters left out by the process. Yet social media seemed to ooze with enthusiasm and Gen Z-friendly hipster appeal. Influencers flooded the web with neon-matcha green pro-Harris videos synced to beats from singer Charli XCX's album “Brat” released last year. The poppy rave videos, gushed journalists, showed that Harris embodied the confidently independent "brat" vibe conveyed by the music.
