Here’s an interesting Twitter thread from someone named Riho Terras, a member of the European Parliament, posted a few hours ago. Obviously we’re not in any position to vouch for the accuracy of this thread (and some of it seems dubious), but pass it along in the interest of broad coverage:
THREAD 1/7 Intel from a Ukrainian officer about a meeting in Putin’s lair in Urals. Oligarchs convened there so no one would flee. Putin is furious, he thought that the whole war would be easy and everything would be done in 1-4 days.

The most recent development in the ongoing debate over transgender wokeism comes to us from Texas and it may light a fire that’s been coming for a long time. Governor Greg Abbott has directed various state agencies to promptly investigate instances of “transitional” medical procedures being performed on children under the state’s child abuse laws and prosecute those found to be engaged in such practices. Of course, when the Boston Globe covered this story, they chose to describe such procedures as “gender-affirming care.”

Rosie and I met close to 15 years ago. She was introduced to one of my friends and remained on the periphery of our friendship circle for a really long time. She would be in a relationship when I wasn't in one and I'd be in a relationship when she was single.
I was a wild, unruly, beer-drinking football player and she was incredibly mature, really amazing and a total babe. She had her life together and it felt like she was completely out of my league.
Then in 2012, I had a really big heartbreak.

In a video recorded on February 5 at around noon, the unidentified suspect is seen lashing out an expletive-filled rant at the victim in the fast-food restaurant's parking lot in Richmond, California. The furious woman, who seems to be working in nursing care due to the hospital scrubs that she was wearing, allegedly accused the victim of cutting in front of her in the drive-through.
The suspect's anger escalated, and she started throwing items, including a water bottle, at the other car, as the terrified mother-of-two continued recording with her three and five-year-old sons.

The Supreme Court agreed on Tuesday to hear a case over whether a wedding website designer can decline to provide services to same-sex couples under Colorado's anti-discrimination law.
Lori Smith, a Christian graphic artist and webpage designer, is seeking to expand her services to create webpages for weddings but argues her religious convictions prevent her from making websites for same-sex couples. Her standpoint conflicts with Colorado's civil rights laws requiring businesses to be accessible to all clients regardless of sexual orientation.

As RedState has reported, Russia has officially thumbed its nose at Joe Biden and invaded Ukraine. That happened after Vladimir Putin formerly recognized regions of Eastern Ukraine as autonomous, setting up the pretext to move in troops across the border as a peacekeeping force.
The administration has responded by quibbling about the definition of “invasion,” and signing a toothless executive order to sanction financial dealings in the Donbas and other regions now officially occupied by Russia. (snip) Regardless, what we do know is that Biden, for his proclamations of Putin being afraid of him, has been thoroughly embarrassed, having a Russian invasion of Europe take place on his watch.

Following Russia ordering troops into two Ukrainian territories Monday, a 2019 video of then-presidential candidate Joe Biden circulated showing Biden promising that when he becomes president, he would end Russian President Vladimir Putin’s “days of tyranny” and intimidation.
“Once again, Putin and the Russians are trying to engage in our elections and decide who the president’s going to be,” Biden said in a 2019 fundraising ad. “This time I’m the object of their attention. Because Putin knows if I am president of the United States, his days of tyranny and trying to intimidate the United States and those in Eastern Europe are over.”

Thanks to the Texas Heartbeat Act, the number of abortions in Texas is dropping. But pro-abortion forces in the state remain defiant of the law. According to the Thomas More Society, directors “of the Lilith Fund for Reproductive Equity and the Texas Equal Access Fund have admitted in court that their organizations paid for at least one abortion of an unborn child in Texas that had a detectable heartbeat.”
The Thomas More Society says that it has “filed pre-suit petitions for discovery” against these two abortion funds:

I saw people praising this piece on Twitter and wound up reading the entire thing. It offers a detailed and revealing first person perspective on how a teenage girl could go from mocking SJW’s to deciding that she was trans and needed to start living as a boy to be happy. Not surprisingly, one of the key drivers in this story was social media where as a young teen Helena discovered a fantasy world inhabited by unhappy teen girls just like herself.

On Monday, which also happens to be Presidents’ Day in the United States, Vladimir Putin ordered troops to Ukraine after recognizing two pro-Russian regions as independent, in an apparent pretext for invasion.
Putin has been threatening war for some time, and Joe Biden has seemingly let him, undeterred. Oh, there have been some verbal warnings, but this is Joe Biden we’re talking about here. Nothing he’s said or done to dissuade Putin has been effective.
Of course, Joe Biden may simply be letting Putin do whatever he wants. After all, he canceled the Keystone XL pipeline before waiving sanctions on the Nord Stream 2–Russia’s natural gas pipeline.

A Loyola University student on his way to school robbed a Metra conductor at gunpoint Tuesday afternoon because he was hungry and needed money to get some food before class — and that’s according to his defense attorney. Zion Brown, 18, was arrested later that night after his mother recognized him in news coverage of the robbery and drove him to the Calumet City police department to surrender, prosecutors said. (snip) He (the defense attorney) encouraged Judge Maryam Ahmad to reflect on her days as a hungry college student as she weighed the state’s request to have Brown held without bail.
That argument didn’t sit well with Ahmad,

If your therapist doesn’t believe the world is ending over climate change, Slate’s advice columnist suggests it’s time to let her go.
On Tuesday, a distressed reader sought counsel from the online oracle of life advice on what to do when her therapist is not similarly hysterical over environmental Armageddon. The full submission is below:
Q. Therapist is a climate denier: I (30, cis, bi woman) started seeing a therapist in summer 2020. She’s been very helpful in dealing with my bigoted conservative Christian future in-laws, who became extremely radicalized throughout the pandemic. But I’m seriously contemplating if I should stop seeing her.
