A federal judge in Texas granted 35 Navy service members’ court motion challenging the Pentagon’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate with religious exemptions Monday.
Mike Berry, who is representing the Navy SEALs on behalf of First Liberty Institute, told the Daily Caller News Foundation that the ruling is a win for religious freedom.
“We are very grateful for this ruling in favor of our clients,” Berry said. “No longer can the Navy force service members to choose between their faith and serving their country.”
He added: “If religious freedom means anything, it must mean that those who are sworn to protect our freedoms should not be forced to lose those very same freedoms.”

I hate asking the question, but nothing is guaranteed anymore. The fact that there are more Republican-appointed justices than not bodes well for inherent rights and freedom in 2022’s big cases, in particular the anon vaccine cases, but with Roberts the Squish and three neophyte Trump appointees coming into their own, anything is possible. As an interesting aside, the three surviving retired justices (O’Connor, Kennedy, and Souter) all joined the ranks courtesy of Republican presidents and subsequently tilted leftward. Has any justice ever moved right? When it’s all said and done, the idea of an absolutely safe constitutional court is on par with the idea of an absolutely safe vaccine.CORRECTION*

The Daily Caller hosted Boston Celtics center and human rights advocate Enes Kanter Freedom on Friday, discussing everything from Chinese tyranny to the culture wars.Freedom kicked off the lengthiest interview he has done in the past few months by reacting to universities across Hong Kong removing statues commemorating the Tiananmen Square Massacre in which the Chinese government killed 10,000 pro-democracy protesters.
“What’s happening over there is heartbreaking, and we need to do whatever we can to raise awareness,” said the Celtic’s big man. The NBA player then slammed athletes like LeBron James and Colin Kaepernick, along with American “social justice companies” like Nike

With the Senate tied 50-50, just a few key races will decide which party controls Congress’ upper chamber for the last two years of President Joe Biden’s first term.
In addition to key pieces of legislation, executive and judicial nominees will depend on whether Democrats can maintain control, or Republicans take over. Here are five of the most important Senate races to watch during the midterms:
Pennsylvania
Republican Pat Toomey is retiring after two terms, and his seat is one of just two up for election where the current holder is of a different party than the candidate who won the state in 2020.

As the Biden administration continues to fumble its response to the latest wave of the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic, threats of additional restrictions are looming.
Last night, President Joe Biden told reporters he would implement a vaccine requirement for domestic flights if his medical team recommended it. Earlier this week, Dr. Anthony Fauci did just that. The main problem, in addition to unconstitutional decrees issued by public health officials, is Americans have lost faith in the medical establishment to be honest and follow the science when issuing recommendations.

A CNN panelist claimed that a father of four, who tagged a phone call with President Joe Biden with the phrase “Let’s Go, Brandon,” was not only being impolite but also harboring feelings “about insurrection.”
Ron Brownstein, a senior editor at The Atlantic, joined a CNN panel to discuss a phone call between Biden, First Lady Jill Biden, and an Oregon father Jared Schmeck who ended his live-streamed phone call with a less vulgar substitute for “f*** Joe Biden.”
The CNN host dubbed the interaction between Schmeck and the Bidens “disrespectful,” “juvenile” and “reprehensible.” He also asked Brownstein for his opinion on the matter.

Discussion surrounding Merck’s newly-authorized COVID-19 pill, molnupiravir, has mostly concerned the risk it might pose to pregnant women. But some experts worry it could also lead to the outbreak of a new variant of the virus it’s designed to treat.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted emergency use authorization to two antiviral pills to treat COVID-19 this week, one from Pfizer (paxlovid) and another from Merck (molnupiravir). The Pfizer EUA was generally lacking in controversy, but the authorization of molnupiravir was far more contentious.

Seriously ill patients facing death from late stage COVID infection increasingly face hospital protocols that have a terrible record of saving lives. In fact, nearly all such patients die. This explains why over 1,200 Americans are dying every day from COVID. In a week, more people die from late stage COVID than died in the 9/11 attacks. Yet this is not major news on mainstream media outlets. Getting used to COVID deaths has produced complacency rather than rage.
As we approach 800,000 COVID related deaths in the US it is important to note that many and probably most of these occur in a hospital.

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu announced Monday the city will implement a proof of vaccine requirement for restaurants and other indoor venues.
The proof of vaccination requirement for indoor venues, including restaurants, fitness centers and entertainment venues, will begin on Jan. 15 for everyone ages 12 and older, according to a City of Boston press release. All city employees will also be required to prove vaccination unless granted a medical or religious exemption.
“Vaccines are the most powerful tool we have to fight this pandemic,” Wu said in the press release.

Younger people have become disenchanted with President Joe Biden, the septuagenarian rapidly losing support with the demographic who was wary of him during the 2020 Democratic primary.
On average, fewer than 3 in 10 adults under the age of 30 approve of Biden's job performance as president, and a majority disapproves, according to online polling conducted by the Economist and YouGov. Biden's net negative 21 approval rating with the demographic is his worst among any age group, the organizations found. On top of that, Biden has a net negative 17 rating among people aged between 30 and 44.

Republican Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy grilled one of President Joe Biden’s judicial nominees with the same question nine times in a row over the course of five minutes.
Anne Traum was nominated by Biden to be the United States District Judge for the District of Nevada. During Thursday’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Kennedy questioned Traum’s beliefs on criminal justice.
“Do you think we should forgive criminal misbehavior in the name of social justice?” Kennedy asked.
“Senator, thank you for that question. I recognize that all issues of crime and all responses to crime are fundamentally policy issues.

California Democrats are toughening their stance on crime amid increasing violence and homicides, with many politicians pledging to invest in law enforcement.
Crime in California has skyrocketed over the past two years, with homicides in San Francisco jumping 15% in 2021 compared to 2020, and over 50% compared to 2019. Statewide, homicides, property crime, violent crime and larcenies have all risen since before the pandemic.
Retail thefts in particular have plagued the state, most notably in Los Angeles and San Francisco, where organized gangs of criminals will break into and loot storefronts of their merchandise.
