ICE authorized just 20,858 arrests in the six months after the Biden administration announced new rules restricting which illegal immigrants could be targeted—or an average of just one arrest every two months for each deportation officer. That’s down exponentially from the Trump years, when the rate averaged two arrests each month, and it’s even worse compared to the peak Obama years, when the ratio was about four arrests each month. But even though U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says it’s catching fewer people overall, it’s arresting more aggravated felons, which ICE says is proof the new rules are working to allow officers to focus on the most valuable targets.

Immunity against infection from COVID-19 vaccines is waning over time, a new study suggests. Researchers from the Leumit Health Services in Israel and the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) looked at people inoculated with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
They found that, 90 days after receiving the second dose, the risk of contracting the virus more than doubles and only keeps increasing as far as six months out. What's more, the percentage of tests coming back positive for COVID-19 quadrupled from 2.4 percent at least 90 days later to 10.6 percent at least 150 days later.
The finding add more evidence that, while the Pfizer vaccines provides strong protection

Consumers angry with soaring gas prices are placing stickers on gas pumps with an image of President Biden saying “I did that” as he points to the total price paid by the driver. And stickers of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat, saying “I helped,” are placed right next to Mr. Biden’s “I did that” decals. The stickers, available online in stacks of 100 to 300 and costing from $7 to $20, are reportedly springing up at gas pumps around the country and were seen by The Washington Times on pumps along I-95 and other interstates in several states between Washington, D.C., and Florida. Another sticker shows a shirtless, unkempt

British experts have sounded the alarm over a new Covid variant believed to have emerged in Botswana that is the most mutated version of the virus yet. Only 10 cases of the strain, which could eventually be named 'Nu', have been detected so far. But it has already been spotted in three countries, suggesting the variant is more widespread. It carries 32 mutations, many of which suggest it is highly transmissible and vaccine-resistant, and has more alterations to its spike protein than any other variant.(Snip)Dr Tom Peacock, a virologist at Imperial College who first picked up on its spread, described the variant's combination of mutations as 'horrific'.

Would-be alien overlords, be warned. The Defense Department late Tuesday night formally created a new office to track and organize UFO sightings across the U.S. military, acknowledging that persistent cases of unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) “raise potential national security concerns” that cannot be ignored.
In a memo to Pentagon leaders, Deputy Defense Secretary Kathleen Hicks said the Airborne Object Identification and Management Synchronization Group will coordinate all UAP-related efforts across the military and will serve as the Defense Department’s primary point of contact for other federal agencies working on the issue.
The creation of the office is a major step for the Pentagon, which until just several years ago

At least 600 Google employees have signed a manifesto calling on the tech company to retract its COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
The tech giant is requiring its more than 150,000 U.S. employees to report their vaccination statuses and all employees who work directly or indirectly with government contracts to be vaccinated, whether they plan to work in the office or not. The manifesto, which has been signed by at least 600, or less than 0.5% of all Google employees, asks company executives to abandon the policy to create a mandate 'inclusive of all Googlers,' CNBC first reported. It urges workers to 'oppose the mandate as a matter of principle'

Iowa’s Medicaid system must cover gender confirmation surgery, a judge ruled Friday. Polk County District Court Judge William P. Kelly ruled that a state law that blocked Medicaid from covering gender confirmation procedures violated the Iowa Civil Rights Act and the Iowa Constitution—allowing trans Iowans to receive coverage for medically necessary surgery to treat gender dysphoria.
Gender dysphoria is defined as a “marked incongruence between their experienced or expressed gender and the one they were assigned at birth.” It is a serious medical condition that often begins in childhood, even though some people may not experience it until after puberty or even later, according to the American Psychiatric Association.

New York—Dollar Tree will soon be $1.25 tree. The company—one of America's last remaining true dollar stores—said Tuesday it will raise prices from $1 to $1.25 on the majority of its products by the first quarter of 2022. The change is a sign of the pressures low-cost retailers face holding down prices during a period of rising inflation. Dollar Tree (DLTR) said in a quarterly earnings release Tuesday that its decision to raise prices to $1.25 permanently, however, was "not a reaction to short-term or transitory market conditions." Selling stuff strictly for $1 hampered Dollar Tree, the company said, and forced it stop selling some

Migrants from Central America are rushing to the U.S. illegally not because of violence or natural disasters in their home countries but because of jobs, a major new study found, challenging claims that they are asylum-seekers fleeing persecution. The study also calculated that migrants from the emigration hubs of El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala pay smugglers $1.7 billion a year to be shepherded into the U.S. illegally. And a staggering 43% of Central Americans have a desire to leave their home countries, up from just 8% a couple of years ago.(Snip)Still, nearly 30% of households in the three key countries reported getting money sent back home
