More than three-quarters of Americans still feel there’s at least some risk from the COVID-19 pandemic in attending July Fourth celebrations—with four in 10 believing the threat is moderate to high, according to a new poll.
Some 77 percent of respondents in an Axios-Ipsos poll ranked the celebrations as posing at least a small risk, with less than a quarter—23 percent—maintaining there was no risk at all.(Snip) Democrats are by far the most fearful, with more than half—52 percent—still believing Independence Day events carry a high or moderate risk, compared to just 25 percent of Republicans.

A friend used to have a big get together, about 30-40 people, fried chicken and all the trimmings, and guests brought salads, side dishes and deserts. It was a great day.
Not last year, not this year. Totally cancelled last year. This year they have invited a very few (single digits) family members. They still haven't been to a restaurant in 18 months. Sad for them. We have been several times a week for that whole time, less six weeks when they were closed by our idiot governor.
We'll be heading to the high mountains of Colorado, 'up where the air conditioning is always on'. A hot summer day might reach 80F, most are in the 70s when it is 98 to 103F down in Pueblo or Springs.

More Democrats are fearful than Republicans. And how many more Pubbies are fearful than Conservatives? Not always the same.
Critical thinking comes into pale here and it's in short supply.

"Democrats are by far the most fearful"... of everything that isn't actually that scary.
They revel and even wallow around in stuff that they should actually be very afraid of like Communism, CRT, anarchy, abortion on demand, gain of function experimentation, climate "science", LGBT lunacy, sexual exploitation of children, etc.

Another BS poll. Normals are acting...normal, despite the continuing hysteria of the enemedia and the perpetually frightened Dems. 4th of July will be celebrated here. American flags everywhere. Still free in the USA.

Yet we're expected to believe that travel this fourth of July will be huge which is leading to crowded flights and gasoline shortages with higher prices. So which is it? Half the people staying home, or crowded highways.

I call B.S. I have a customer base that is older and believe me they were scared out of their minds and many stayed inside for 13 months. Not anymore they are out in full force and dancing the night away. No one I know even gives in a second thought anymore. This is simply the left trying not to lose their grip on the scare mongering.

We’ll go to a 4th brunch and watch a charming little home town patriotic parade from chairs under a marquee set up on the front lawn of friends. Expect about 20 or so there.

Agree with #10. We are having our July 4th weeklong bash at our lake house community this year. About a hundred people for picnic, cocktail parties, breakfast, fireworks etc. Nobody I have talked to is the least concerned about it.

Liberals are no doubt more terrified that some of those violent January 6 insurrectionists are going to show up, crash their parties and steal their white wine, mimosas and brie.

Anybody else notice that those fearful are largely Dems and progressives whose god is the State and green energy?
Those of us who live in faith seem to be much less concerned as we put our faith in God!

Risky? Yes... but not due to Covid.
I worry more about slugs from BLM, Antifa, or one of the Left's problem children from South or the border.
At some point, we need to start fighting back.

If the weenies all stay home, there's more gas for the rest of us to get out and celebrate.

Outside? Please. You might have some concerns still if you were stuck in conference rooms breathing recycled air all day (that was true even before COVID), but out in the fresh air?

More than half of Americans are free to stay home for 4th of July then. Fear is the irrational worry about something occurring that you cannot control. They can sit at home and worry about Covid the entire weekend. They can worry about all of the people enjoying themselves and how they might possible get Covid, or might not. They can worry and be afraid for the people who continue to live and enjoy their lives without the irrational fear (especially vaccinated or people who have Covid anitbodies) of Covid. Of course, they are just as likely to get Covid hiding at home as they are going out and enjoying themselves. Stop feeding into the media generated fear. Stop being controlled by fear, the media, and those who wish to maintain their power through fear. Live your life and enjoy yourself.
