This, ladies, gentlemen, and such non-binary creatures as may happen by, is one of those “hamburger” things that is made out of plants. At the time I wrote this, the plan was that I would grill these things, after which we would attempt to eat them. We did this freely as pioneers, knowing that we could well end up with arrows in our backs. The good news during cooking was that — unlike Buffalo burgers — these hold together well enough to stay on the grill and not slip through to join the ashes. The product here is the “Impossible Burger.”

Thank you for trying it giving honest information. There's no reason I would switch from real meat products to try a 'green patty'. Like the vaccine let someone else try them for whatever reason they must do it. The older I get I don't stray into fads or other peoples advice to stop eating meat and poultry, to each his own.

I tried the BK Impossible Burger. It was better than a McDonalds fried hamburger, but not as good as a Burger King grilled hamburger. The flavor was "off", but not inedible. Its possible that all of the flavoring came from the condiments.
Here's the deal, I "might" switch to fake meat if: A: The taste and texture improves. B: When or if its actually healthier. and most important C: It must be price competitive. My concern is that the treasoncrats will force the price of meat up to "subsidize" the fake meat in an effort to force us to consume the stuf.....to save the planet.
They may be able to make fake ground meat, but I wont get excited until they come up with a New York Strip that I can grill medium rare.

FTA:
"If you ordered a hamburger at McDonalds and they slipped you one of these, you would probably send it back, saying there was something wrong with it. I knew there was something wrong with these from the get-go, so I just plowed ahead."
No, thanks. I'll stick to beef and buffalo for burgers. I actually prefer buffalo for burgers when I can get it, but hard to find.

I'd rather try to swallow a teaspoon of cinnamon or do the Tide Pod challenge.

Our daughter prepared tacos the other night using the stuff in lieu of ground beef. Tasted fine.

If vegetarians and vegans believe that meat is so "evil", why do they spend so much time and money making "fake meat"?!?!?!?
Seriously, to make plants taste anything like meat, you have to add a ton of chemicals to them (which may use "natural" sounding names, but are chemicals all the same). If the whole purpose of not eating meat is to be healthier, how is ingesting all these chemicals in "fake meat" supposed to help you accomplish that goal?!?!?!?

I eat a lot of vegetables...broccoli, asparagus, etc. but I prefer them in their natural state maybe with a nice hollandaise sauce. I don’t need a burger substitute. If some people want them then fine, just leave me to make my own choices.

I don’t eat meat for health reasons - I have genetic high cholesterol, inherited from my mother who, by the time she was my age, had been dead for 2 years from heart disease. Since I quit eating meat I have been able to - first, cut my statin dosage in half as of 2019 and second, have now been able to stop taking it completely.
I like the Beyond Beef burgers, especially with barbecue sauce. And my heart likes them too.

BTW, #8, the main ingredient in Beyond Beef is pea protein. Try reading the ingredients label - the ingredients are not chemicals. They are vegetable, fruit and spice products.
I cook them in a skillet on the stove with a little olive oil and they take 6 minutes - 3 on each side.

Nope, if the product is not from a beast with a hoof, it doesn't set its content on my grill grate. If I want vegetable matter, I will grill corn on the cob or skewer veggies on kebobs or potatoes baked within the confines of the grill.

If you spend thousands of research hours to develop a vegetarian meat product and spend millions of dollars to promote it, you are admitting that meat is better than eating beans and quinoa. Why eat a fake version of a naturally-good product, like hamburger meat.?
Kind of like the large women and the "should" stuff in the Halo fake ice cream commercials. If you think you don't need to wrap up at the pool, then why "should" you eat an inferior product like Halo when you can eat real ice cream?

My Time is too valuable to waste 12 minutes grilling a plant. I read where they use some kind of animal-based grease to hold it together so it's not strange that the dog ate it. My dog eats carrots and potatoes so, no big endorsement. Their mistake was in calling them burgers at a time when beef was under attack. Soylent Green might have fooled the younger generation but I don't see anybody who was coherent in the 70s buying into this stuff.
