The number of U.S. military assets that may need to be renamed as part of an effort to scrub Confederate names could reach into the hundreds, the retired admiral leading the renaming effort said Friday. “I think once we get down to looking at buildings and street names, this potentially could run into the hundreds,” retired Adm. Michelle Howard told reporters on a conference call. Just to satisfy my curiosity I looked up her picture. Yup.
How is this different than the Taliban blowing up Buddhist statues? But go ahead. Stick it to whitey.

Assets to be renamed after communists, marxists, and Chinese, right? Waste to taxpayer money.

How many US counties are named for prominent confederates, not to mention schools and streets and other public landmarks. It does not end with military bases.

Having observed her career for many years, I can safely opine that Michelle Howard was the Navy's answer to Colin Powell. Nothing particularly stellar about her leadership or management skills but she was well-protected and guided up through the ranks from early on.
Over the summer and fall, commissioners will visit the nine installations with Confederate names...
Why? How will that possibly influence what are obviously foregone conclusions? And renaming the USS Antietam simply because some don't see the battle as a Union victory? This is insanity!

What’s the point? Does this make these desk officers feel more potent? What will they do for kicks after they have run out of things to cancel?

George Washington and Thomas Jefferson owned hundreds of slaves. Abraham Lincoln wanted to send to the freed slaves out of the USA. Martin Luther King Jr. was a rapist enabler, if not an outright rapist himself. When does their day of reckoning come?

Things do get complicated when one doesn’t think things through. Another woke liberal idea gone bad! They’ll have to get it done now, no matter the cost to the taxpayers.

#14,
It goes deeper than that...
FTA: "Howard, a former vice chief of naval operations and the first African American woman to command a U.S. Navy ship, is the chairwoman of the Commission on the Naming of Items of the Department of Defense that Commemorates the Confederate States of America or Any Person Who Served Voluntarily with the Confederate States of America, also known as the Naming Commission."

This is crazy. Many of these names have been used for over 100 years and are not viewed as a celebration of the Confederacy.
