The House on Thursday narrowly passed a nearly $2 billion spending package to bolster security in the Capitol in the wake of the destructive and deadly Jan. 6 riot. Most Republicans opposed the measure, which passed 213-212, with three Democratic members voting "present" and three opposing the bill. GOP lawmakers cited duplicative spending and objected to a provision that adds the National Guard to the Capitol security force. It passed a day after Democrats and 35 Republicans voted to create a commission to investigate the Jan. 6 riot.“This bill is a first step toward having more security for the building that lodges the legislative branch of government,”

It will not be a national guard, but a palace guard.

Interesting how many lies there are in an editorial that's masquerading as " unbiased reporting " .

Pure puffery. This bill has no chance in the senate. When democrats are not doing serious damage to the country, they are notably irrelevant.

I was in DC way back in the Obamacare ruckus. I felt like a foreigner in that city. I also learned that it had more cops than people. City cops, capitol cops, park cops, library cops, CIA cops, FBI cops, scooter cops, car cops, and other cops too numerous to mention. Now they'll have the Pelosi police. DC really needs more armed guards.

You mean the Jan. 6 peaceful protest? The "deadly" one where no arms were confiscated, and no one died but an unarmed civilian shot point blank by a Capitol police officer? That riot? Yeah, that probably deserves a $2 billion army while we de-fund police departments nation wide.

"In the wake of the destructive and deadly riot". Lying with traces of truth.
Four windows broken.....and one of their secret police official thugs murdered a woman for no reason.
Yeah, violent on the part of Pelosi's thugs.

You said it adroitly #2. I presume this POS is dead in the Senate. If not, it's a subtle but critical change constitutionally. The elite actually become elite.

If the legislative branch would represent the people as their job description dictates, they would not have to worry about extra security. Cowards full of guilt and fear will always have a reason to look over their shoulders. One day soon they will find something there.

The BLM/Antifa criminals would NOT have come into the building on Jan 6 had Nancy Pelosi not told the DC Police to "stand down" from protecting the Capital.

I submit that the new force has all black uniforms with twin lightening bolts on the collar and a nice crisp billed hat with a Totenkopf on the hat.

There were some deaths on Jan 6 due to poor health.
There was one death on Jan 6 as a unidentified Capitol guard shot a woman who was not doing anything unusual.
There was a broken window accomplished by a Antifa member.

What could possibly cost 2 billion? For that amount of money, you could BUILD a new capital fortress from the ground up.

Well. Should be $2.3 Trillion.
After all, so many Members were killed. So many Capitol Police were killed, So much property damage was done. The Capitol was more seriously damaged than in 1812. Trust us. It was worse than 911. It was worse than Pearl Harbor. AOC was huddled under her desk, in a DIFFERENT BUILDING, fearing for her life. And Nancy Pelosi's laptop was STOLEN!
And Ashli Babbitt, the wicked terrorist, had set forth to wreak havoc, armed with a scarf and a sweater. Well, we fixed that. She is dead and will commit no further insurrection.
Supposedly there will soon be a list of the Armed Terrorists who Invaded the Capitol, intent on Murdering Members of Congress.
Right.
Meanwhile many Citizens remain in detention without trial, without charges, without an Attorney, without the ability to contact their next of kin. In the United States, you can be detained indefinitely for the crime of walking through the Capitol when the Capitol Police open the doors for you.
But do not look to SCOTUS for a resolution. SCOTUS only listens to the Mob. And the Mob says DEATH TO TRUMP.

Exactly. The military is not supposed to be used to enforce civil law.
But democrats do whatever they like. The laws mean nothing to them unless they are using them against republicans.
