Donald Trump is to relocate from Florida to New Jersey this summer, according to a report - escaping the stifling heat, and putting him closer to his New York business empire and political network. The former president, 74, officially moved his residency for tax purposes from New York to Florida in late 2019.As president, he spent a significant amount of time during the winter in Florida, and during the summer he would escape Washington for New Jersey, staying at his Bedminster golf club.He now looks to continue that pattern.

Lots of people do that—those who can afford it. Same with Tucson and Phoenix, AZ. It is hotter than Hades in South Florida and South Arizona during the summer.

I'm told that in the Tennessee and Carolina mountains that there are so many Florida license plates seen during the summer that you'd think you were in Florida.
Non-Florida natives can't stand the heat, so the migrants from the north migrate back north to cooler places. Those that can afford it....

My guess is that there is more to it. President Trump does everything very purposefully. What it does do is make Gov DeSantis eligible to be VP now that they won’t both live in the same State! Godspeed President Trump!

Bet they'd been snow-birds for a long time, except when he was our rightful president. DeSantis and he need to keep the commies from also stealing the next election, otherwise, why bother?

If Pence wasn't such a back stabbing coward, Trump's address would still be in DC.

Because Pres. Trump and Melania don't have air conditioning in their mansion and limo and misters by the pool.
#6 is onto something.

Once the DM gets by another shock and awe headline, we find out that he has done this for some time. This is not necessarily a permanent move of residence. Once again, a look at the right sidebar on any DM page will tell you what a tabloid is.

Also way down in the article, Mar-a-Lago shuts down for the summer. That means no services during those months.

Honest question, but slightly off topic: Why so many articles posted from the DM? I’ll bet there are more articles posted here, on a daily basis, from that paper than any other paper out there. Do we have a lot of Brits at Lucianne? Or, is it something else? It is obviously a left-wing publication, which is nothing new, but the articles always have a childish, gossipy tone to them, and I just wonder if I’m missing something.

For Poster #12: It's the pictures. The DM pays for photos and they seem to be first in the world in getting even the most obscure stories with photos.
And some people probably like the gossip.
And every once in a while the DM commits an act of brilliant journalism (rare, but it still happens).

I find the DM articles less leftist than the AP, etc. and I love their photos which no American propaganda sheet can match.

1,000 people per day are moving permanently to Florida vs. muggy Florida summers? So much so that increases in vehicle traffic in most of Florida have been getting worse for the last 25 years. The Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico are huge heat sinks that cool much of Florida in summer, especially along the coasts, including West Palm Beach. The Trumps are not leaving Florida in summer because of too much heat.

Many wealthy people in Dallas do the same thing, and head to the mountains of Colorado.

Trump always spent the weekends in the summer at the NJ Golf Club. Mar-a-:Lago was for the winter months.

If a NY resident moves to Florida, and NYS believes the move was for tax reasons, the NY Reveue department conducts audit mercilessly, and for several years.
Rush Limbaugh moved from NY to Florida, and went through 13 years of rigorous NYS audits after, as he related it. He said he had to prove where he was for every day of the tax year.
In DJT's case, Mayor Wilhelm did not want President Trump to even visit NYS, because it created security problems. DJT was happy to comply with the dimwitted mayor's demand.
New Jersey has a state income tax, so President Trump would be foolish to relocate to the polluted swampland known as New Jersey.
