It's not news, necessarily, that CNN is not keeping up with the post-Trump administration times we live in — despite a change in course directed by new boss Chris Licht following a merger between CNN's parent company and Discovery. But when tanking ratings continue to sink to levels not seen in nearly a decade, there's bound to be some talk of whether the network is salvageable at all.
Enter a new dispatch from TheWrap noting CNN "notched its lowest ratings in nine years across all its day parts for the week of Jan. 16 through Jan. 22, 2023," per ratings data from Nielsen: "just 444,000 viewers in primetime,

You have all the people who quit watching years ago due to the one sided liberal news going back to the Clinton News Network days. Then you try to drop far left opinion shows and you lose those people -- a little something for everyone to dislike. It would be great if CNN went back to just reporting news, but they need to bring on some non-lefties like Bill O'Reilly if they want some semblance of balance.

Good. Glad they are frustrated. Their bloated egos won't allow them to quit of course. Keep keepin' on traitors.

CNN is run by unintelligent and leftist executives. Ford switched from the model T to the model A by closing factories and redesigning the car in the interim. The results were hugely successful. CNN needs to dismiss all on-air personnel and leftist producers. Then reopen, as it were, with middle roaders and conservatives. Current CNN stars are glum, unfunny and still spout the Democrat party line. Fire them all and bring in some new faces, pretty with blond hair like at Fox News.

Know what I miss? In the early cable TV days, before CNN, there was a channel that would scroll the wire services. White lettering on a blue background, nice elevator music playing, text only. I would watch that for hours. If CNN went to that I might tune them back in.

Even with the abysmal ratings of CNN, when you add their numbers onto MSNBC’s numbers, more Americans are watching the commie news channels than are watching Fox and Newsmax combined numbers.

# 5 paleoconserv43 Actually I just read an article saying Fox News beat CNN and MSN combined. Maybe that's something new.

I watched CNN while teacing in Poland, 1998, and while visiting Russia in 1996
I also watched Bernie Shaw, a solid newsman. And Cross Fire.
The rest of it, except for covering on site emeriencies, is dreck.

You're not going to make CNN better by using the same media prostitutes to host different shows. No matter how much you move them around, they're still going to stink up the place.

Who cares? Don't waste too much energy on this. Cable news will cancel itself in the near future. Check out the demographics. Very few people under 50 watch ANYTHING on cable, much less the NEWS.
Remember landlines? Blockbuster? Newspapers?

Are they still in the airports? I don't even see TVs when I am in an airport. Anyway, whenever I am in the breakfast lobby of a motel I ask for the remote and switch it to Fox News--haven't had any fights yet.

Just maybe their ratings would improve if they started telling factual news instead of DNC talking points. Oh....silly me.....I forgot the DNC owns CNN.

This is a marketing issue. CNN collectively are conservative hating liberals who insist on insulting us constantly. So we don’t watch it. Most Americans are not ‘woke’, even Democrats. 95% of Americans are not gay. 99% of Americans are not transgender and believe it is a sick scam to appease the mentally ill. They can’t have a discussion about anything without bringing Donald Trump into it. There you have it. CNN will not survive.

It's all a vast right wing conspiracy. Any day now people are going to start realizing the value of what Don Lemon, Wolfie and the other lying leftists are bringing them and will come back in twos and threes so CNN can work itself back up to 1%. You heard it here first.

CNN needs Juan Williams, Geraldo Rivera, Harold Ford (YAWN), Jessica Tarlov(?) and all the rest of the socialists that are now residing on FOX to take a permanent chair and help CNN out. LOL.

Picture it USS Robert E. Peary (FF-1073) stationed at Naval Station Pearl Harbor June 9, 1989. A young sailor coming off of the balls to 4am Quarter Deck watch. Barely in my early 20's and still hyped that I'm not only in the greatest Naval force on the planet but I'm stationed in Hawaii. For a young Black man from rural WVA you have no idea how awesome that was to me. I'm not tired so I go down to the mess deck and get some early breakfast and turn on the Hitachi big screen tv (remember those folks). The tv was tuned into CNN which was THE channel back then for 24-hour news. Remember before that My generation grew up with the big three news with stations going off the air at midnight. Back then CNN had the barreling voice of James Earl Jones saying, "This Is CNN!" Trust me it made me pay attention back then. They used to be a great news channel. I think when Clinton became president for some reason CNN began to morph into the Clinton News Network. Covering up his corrupt administration while fawning over him and his family. They never recovered after that. Especially when the FNC came online in the mid 90s. I haven't watched CNN since Gore vs GWB for the 2000 Presidency and so see their ratings continue to slide into oblivion makes me just shake my head. I'll always remember 80s tv cable news and how CNN was a great information source for a young sailor stationed in paradise.

Re #8, I tried watching CNN in Russia in the middle 2000s and later, since it was the only English channel on the TV. After about half an hour....that was over. Never looked at it again. Go the to local McD and get on internet with my laptop, since the $375 a night Grand Marriott wanted an extra $90 a day for wifi in the room.
