A stray bullet struck an MTA bus in Harlem on Sunday, coming within inches of a passenger—and part of a wave of city violence that now has some drivers seeking bullet-proof vests, according to officials.
The frightening incident occurred on the M101 line shortly before 2:30 p.m. when the slug lodged in the side of the bus, which had about 30 passengers, during a nearby shootout, police said.
None of the shaken riders or driver were injured—but they easily could have been, said Richie Davis, vice president and chief of staff for Local 100 of the Transit Workers Union.(Snip)“This is at least the fourth time

Disturbing video captured shoppers at a Louis Vuitton store in the New York suburbs try to prevent a crew of thieves from ransacking the luxury retailer for the second time in less than a month—only for the brazen bandits to escape when mall security guards sat back and watched. In the video, the suspects are seen fleeing the store at the Westchester Mall in White Plains, as other people nearby attempted to stop them. But as the chaotic scene unfolds, an apparent mall security guard hangs back and watches, but does nothing.(Snip)Astorino posted another video on Saturday from the same mall showing a separate theft incident

Comedian Heather McDonald collapsed on stage at The Tempe Improv in Arizona on Saturday night. McDonald had just delivered her second joke of the evening before falling to the floor and requiring medical attention. The 51-year-old comedian shared updates with her fans to Instagram following the scary incident, which was initially reported by TMZ. McDonald's second joke of the show, which she headlined, poked fun at the unvaccinated and made light of the ongoing pandemic. 'I'm vaxxed, double vaxxed, boosted… and flu shot, and shingle shot, and haven't gotten COVID and Jesus loves me most,' she stated. Following the line's delivery, Heather collapsed to the floor and hit

German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser has been accused of writing an article for a far-left Antifa publication run by a group that has been accused of having ties to extremism by the Bavarian office of the German domestic intelligence agency. Faeser, a member of the Social Democrats (SPD) who became German Interior Minister last year in December, allegedly penned an article for an Antifa magazine last year run by the Bund der Antifaschistinnen und Antifaschisten (VVN-BdA), a group that has been listed as an extremist outfit for years by the Bavarian Office for the Protection of the Constitution. The article, which was published in July of last year,

Gerhard Schröder, the former left-leaning Chancellor of Germany, has been nominated to the board of a Russian state-owned gas company.
The move to nominate Schröder to the board of Gazprom has prompted mass outcry amongst German politicians, while the country as a whole has been slammed as of late for its overreliance on Russian natural gas. According to a report from POLITICO, Gerhard Schröder was on an official list of candidates for the board of directors that was published on Friday.(Snip)Of particular note is the fact that Schröder was the one to initially approve the Nord Stream 2 project during his time as Germany’s Chancellor,

Want to know if a COVID-19 wave is heading to your town? Check the poop. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Friday it is expanding efforts to sample wastewater for the virus and is posting data from its national surveillance network for the first time on its online COVID-19 tracker. “It allows you to compare data across states directly,” said Amy Kirby, the program lead for CDC’s National Wastewater Surveillance System. The CDC says infected people can shed the coronavirus in their feces even if they don’t show symptoms. The viral RNA can be detected in wastewater when it is sampled from a treatment plant.

A substitute teacher was caught on camera as he berated a teenage student who is the son of two California police officers for wearing a Blue Lives Matter American flag face mask in support of cops.
Lucas Lillar, 13, who is in the eighth grade at Lyman Gilmore Middle School in Grass Valley, near Sacramento, was filmed by another pupil as the unidentified substitute teacher reprimanded him in front of the class for wearing the cloth mask, which features a thin blue line. 'That's not the American flag, that's the new confederacy flag,' the teacher can be heard yelling while Lucas attempts to defend himself last Monday.

More than three quarters of students at one Baltimore high school are reading at an elementary level, with many reading at a kindergarten level. Fox Baltimore reported that a teacher at Patterson High School, one of the largest high schools in the city, came forward with information showing 77% of students at the schools were found to have an elementary school reading level. Patterson has a 61% graduation rate and a $12 million budget.(Snip)The revelation comes at the same time that Maryland Public Policy Institute released a report showing that Maryland taxpayers are paying millions of dollars for “ghost students”–those who don’t attend school.

The city’s high school application process is now a crapshoot — and top grades barely matter. One month before the application deadline, the Department of Education unveiled its long-awaited new admission system, lowering the bar for entry into many competitive high schools—and tossing kids with a range of academic achievement into a random hopper.(Snip)Amy Nicolas, a straight-A Catholic school eighth-grader, is aiming for Townsend Harris HS in Queens or another top-ranked public school. “I’m definitely worried about my chances. It’s pretty much a lottery,” she said. “My friends are very smart–their grades are 90 and above–but they’re actually pretty scared of being rejected.”

At least five homeless people have turned a stretch of Whitney Avenue in Elmhurst, Queens into an urban camping ground. The encampment has persisted for two years—with the city taking no action, despite 41 complaints made through 311 since Jan. 1, 2020.
“Everybody complains. It’s too dirty. Sometimes Sanitation comes, sometimes they don’t. If they don’t come, it’s a mess,” Steven Li, 45, manager of nearby Getting Well Rx Pharmacy Inc., said.
Littered along the sidewalk, gutter, and street are bags of trash, clothes, office chairs, a shopping cart and milk crates.“We call [the police] so many times. The cops don’t come. They told us, ‘What can we

Backpacker killer Ivan Milat did not live to see his long-term home's latest refurbishment but he would not really fit in at Supermax these days. Milat was one of the first inmates when Supermax opened 20 years ago and before his death in 2019 was already the odd one out in many ways.(Snip)Originally called the High Risk Management Unit, this plain-looking fortress is now officially designated the High Risk Management Correctional Centre. It is known to the public as Supermax but has sometimes been dubbed Supermosque due to its ever increasing number of Islamic inmates. Supermax sits with the grounds of Goulburn Correctional Centre
Comments:
There he is again, The Unhinged Commuter, more likely a crazy homeless person than someone commuting to work. With a straight face, the news says mass transit ridership is down because people fear the Coronavirus (despite being fully vaxxed and boosted).
