House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08) has always had a slightly desperate air about him since he took over the reins from Rep. Nancy Pelosi in November 2022. He lives in her shadow, and in fact, many observers consider him her puppet. He has grown increasingly bitter over the years as his political impotence is exposed almost daily by the Republicans, who keep trumping him on issue after issue. He's gone from just being generally unlikable to bitter, vitriolic, and resentful, and his endless rage stands in stark contrast to the optimism and hope that Trump and the GOP radiate. The Trump administration plans to drop the Department of Justice's $1.8 billion "Anti-Weaponization Fund" in the face of legal and political pushback to it, reports said Monday.
The fund was created as part of a settlement of President Donald Trump's $10 billion lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service. It is intended to compensate people who were purportedly victims of prosecutorial overreach by the DOJ under the Biden administration.

BEIRUT — U.S. President Donald Trump said Monday that Israel and Hezbollah have agreed to dial back fighting after he held talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and communicated with the Lebanese militant group through mediators.
Trump announced the development in a social media post following a call with Netanyahu, whose forces recently made their deepest incursion into Lebanon in more than a quarter-century. Trump there would be no Israeli troops “going to Beirut, and any Troops that are on their way, have already been turned back.”
The president said Hezbollah had “agreed that all shooting will stop — That Israel will not attack them, and they will not attack Israel.”

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian sent a letter to Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei's office submitting his resignation, London-based anti-regime outlet Iran International reported on Sunday.
An anonymous official told Iran International that the letter had called out the fact that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had effectively taken over large portions of the government, and that the president and other high-ranking officials had been cut out of vital decision-making.

But there’s also good news for Trump: His ratings showed little change in the latest I&I/TIPP Poll, as he moves toward a deal with Iran that will reopen the Mideast’s oil spigots.
