Most comedians spin their "humor" off of current events. This explains why Puerto Ricans would mot be upset about the comedian's remark at MSG rally.

My wife and I visited Puerto Rica about 20 years ago. We had a great time. Got to see Arecibo before it failed. I have some friends from there and they were amazed that we had gone there. They cautioned us that after about 10 pm to never stop for a stop light, just keep on driving.

Re #1. We were there some 30 years ago and the trash amount was stunning. The public beaches were simply paved with trash...bottles, cans, paper and who knows what else. We were with a group staying at a resort so crime wasn't a real factor but I wouldn't have set foot anywhere by myself.

I don't think the great majority of the population are aware that there is a serious trash problem in Puerto Rico, so that joke went over most people's heads, I would guess. Until I saw this article, I was not aware and I am an avid news reader. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

If you look at all the packaging, disposable items and plastic that we throw away everyday it is maybe 100 times more than what was thrown away 50 years ago. I remember as a kid that we would collect empty soda and beer bottles and take them back to the store to claim the deposit. Now all the stuff is in disposable or maybe recyclable containers. Diapers were washed not throw away. We didn't wrap every piece of candy, instead of buying everything online and packed in all kinds of paper and plastic that has to be taken care of we went to the store. Our fruits and vegetables were packed in one bag and picked out the fruit and vegetables and they were not in forever plastic bags, We need to stop this or our cities will have the same problems that they have in Puerto Rico.

Like some others here, I wasn't aware that the trash situation in PR was a news topic. Looks like like the joke is on the media gasbags. Dare I make a leap and assume that there's no trash problem on the neighboring island of Cuba due to a lack of packaged consummable goods?

Puerto Rico is an island with ruling families. It has its own laws, regulations and banks. Island attorneys can only practice Island law. UCC is not there, only like French colony Louisiana. Think of the islands of Manhattan, Staten and river delineated boroughs of NYC…everyone gets paid or nothing gets done. I remember going to PR on business and AT&T cut off my phone when I landed - cellphone lines were cloned And used there - PR Telecom was the island cellphone company…. Trash is free and all over Central America too - Frito Lay & Pepsi and other Multinationals make lots of sales there. Put a tax/deposit on their packaging to have it collected and barged or incinerated for disposal. But the ‘pristine beauty’ costs money to maintain. And while at it, get all the PR highway signs in English too…

While young people historically have low voter turnout, Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign has taken to social media to try to bridge the gap — but young voters shouldn’t be so quick to applaud her get-out-the-vote tactics. What began with Harris hopping on the “brat summer” bandwagon has expanded to a full-fledged (and cringe) meme crusade, with the campaign trying to paper over Harris’ lack of accountability and abysmal record by following the trends of “chronically online” voters. Many failures of the Biden-Harris administration directly affect young voters, making the transition from adolescent to adult harder than ever.

Prompted by Rep. Bryan Steil to act, the feckless Wisconsin Elections Commission will meet on Friday to issue guidance clarifying the use of noncitizen IDs at the polls. Steil, chairman of the House Administration Committee, which oversees federal election law, sent a letter late last week demanding WEC clarify whether swing state Wisconsin’s Limited Term and Non-Domiciled driver’s licenses and ID cards may be used as proof of residency to register to vote. Spoiler Alert: The temporary visitor IDs generally issued to noncitizens can be used to vote, according to proposed guidance from members of the Elections Commission.

The havoc wrought by Hurricane Helene in western North Carolina brought disaster to homes and families, but that has not stopped Democrats from blocking the approval of emergency early voting sites in the heavily Republican area. The refusal to act forced the GOP-led state legislature to intervene. Democrat-run local elections boards in McDowell and Henderson counties have failed to approve additional early voting sites in the disaster-stricken area, despite increasing calls for more access to voting. Both counties voted for Donald Trump in 2020. “Ensuring the right to vote is upheld for western NC citizens devastated by Hurricane Helene should be a non-partisan issue,

ncredible as it seems, at least to me, it is the four-year anniversary of this outline [GO DEEP].During the rushed debate over the Patriot Act, was when I first heard political officials talking about the importance of “continuity of government.” I immediately recognized what all these DC voices were describing was a construct of a post-911 government that would exist and maintain itself without the elected representatives of WeThe People. The intelligence gathering and homeland security system put into place after the Patriot Act was passed, is a bureaucratic administrative state without the presence of elected officials controlling the apparatus. That leads to the following question:

The order comes two days after Virginia attorney general Jason Miyares filed an emergency application, requesting that the Court stay an injunction that ordered Virginia to restore some 1,600 suspected noncitizens who are ineligible to vote to the state’s voter rolls. A federal appeals court upheld the injunction on Sunday, quickly prompting the attorney general to appeal to the Supreme Court.

It showed the Vice President capturing 52% of the votes, compared to 47% for Republican challenger Donald Trump, with 100% of the precincts reporting.

Democrats went into damage-control mode Tuesday night due to the president’s trash talk, claiming that Biden hadn’t intended to demonize his party’s political opponents just seven days before voters head to the polls. “The President referred to the hateful rhetoric at the Madison Square Garden rally as ‘garbage,’” White House spokesman Andrew Bates said in a statement.

ABC has sparked wild conspiracy theories after mistakenly airing election results for Pennsylvania. The results appeared on the ticker along the bottom of the screen during a broadcast of the Formula 1 Mexico Grand Prix by ABC local affiliate WNEP-TV on Sunday. It showed Kamala Harris taking the state with 52 percent of the votes, while Donald Trump's share was 47 percent. It instantly prompted claims of election rigging on social media, with one person tweeting: 'The cheat is on.' WNEP-TV said that the numbers came up on the screen in 'error' and that they had been 'randomly generated' as part of a test ahead of election night on November 5.
