California Christians push back against
light sentence for saint statue vandals

The justice system had a chance to “draw a line in the sand” against vandalism of Christian property but botched the opportunity when it gave misdemeanors to five activists who toppled a statue of St. Junipero Serra , a local Catholic activist told the Washington Examiner. (Snip) Frugoli praised her own office for resolving the case using an “innovative restorative justice solution.” "While this issue has raised emotions because of the sensitivities around religion, community boundaries, and historic inequities, the fact is that a resolution through accountability has been reached through restorative justice, and that is a victory for this community,”

Comments:

Perps got 'community service' for destroying a historic statue. But if someone tips over a rainbow flag - probably life in prison.

Californians are nuts for allowing these kinds of actions to happen. Many of them flee the state and bring their nuttiness with them. The plight of this country reminds me of a metastasizing cancer where eventually the leftist disease will eat up the whole.

They came for the Communists, and I didn’t object – For I wasn’t a Communist; They came for the Socialists, and I didn’t object – For I wasn’t a Socialist; They came for the labor leaders, and I didn’t object – For I wasn’t a labor leader; They came for the Jews, and I didn’t object – For I wasn’t a Jew; Then they came for me – And there was no one left to object. - Martin Niemöller

I heard an interview with Archbishop Cordileone on Catholic Relevant Radio. He had been "working" with the DA's office. The defendants were to be charged with aggravated misdemeanor vandalism and go to trial. There was supposed to be evidence presented by credited historians about the three phases of the Californian Missions. The first phase under St. Junipero Serra where the native peoples were housed, fed, given medical care, taught how to farm and catechized, which was then followed by the period of the Spanish Conquistadors which was brutal, and then the American takeover after the Gold Rush. St. Junipero Serra's name was to be cleared. The Archbishop was willing to ask for leniency in sentencing in exchange for the defendant's apology and help in restoring the statue, whose value was $40,000. He was totally blindsided by Frugoli's “innovative restorative justice solution.”

It would only take 6 months in the city jail. Let them dodge big Tyrone when he gets romantic and eat jail food for six months and this problem would never reoccur. . Six months, no forgiven fines. Six months and these juvenile snowflakes would never do it again.

A wild wolverine was spotted multiple times in California last month, only the second specimen to be verified by experts in the past century, according to the state Department of Fish and Wildlife. Over a two-week period in May, the wolverine was reported twice in Inyo National Forest and once in Yosemite National Park. Photos and video of the animal were analyzed by U.S. Forest Service experts, who confirmed it was the same creature due to its body proportions, coloration and movement. "Wolverines can travel great distances, making it likely that the recent sightings are all of the same animal

The Department of Defense scrambled fighter jets to intercept a private jet that entered Washington DC airspace and later crashed into mountainous terrain in southwest Virginia, officials said. The F-16s caused a sonic boom that shook houses across the US Capital at around 3pm as they took off from Andrews Air Force Base in high speed pursuit of the Cessna Citation, a US official told Reuters. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) told The Independent the aircraft had taken off from Tennessee bound for New York but had crashed into a sparsely populated area near Staunton, about 150 miles southwest of

Most theater, film and television awards feature gendered performance categories, but in recent years, some theater ceremonies have done away with male/female distinctions. Not the Tony Awards, Broadway's highest honors. But this June, for the first time, there's a chance that a couple of non-binary performers will take home statues. "We don't gender other people's professions," said Alex Newell, who plays a female character, Lulu, in the new musical Shucked. "You say: I'm going to my doctor, I'm going to my dentist, and I need to hire a plumber." Newell, who is a self-described non-binary, non-gender-conforming actor, is nominated for

Last Thursday, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson held an event with law enforcement personnel and other “community leaders” to unveil his Memorial Day weekend “safety plan.” Holiday weekends in Chicago are notoriously violent, so Johnson’s attempt to curb it constituted his first “big test” as mayor. The consistent and senseless violence on holiday weekends is also why it was disappointing to hear so little substance during the event. Johnson briefly discussed how the Office of Emergency Management and Communications would “monitor citywide events and weather conditions” and all relevant agencies would coordinate with one another. He also tweeted that Chicago police

California appears to be presenting the green movement with yet another reality check. Democrat Gov. However, when California's almost inevitable heat waves come in the summer and residents crank up their home air conditioners, officials turn on massive diesel-powered generators to make up for the state’s energy shortfall and to avoid rolling blackouts.
