Chicago Mayor-Elect Brandon Johnson (D) told CBS News on Thursday his plan to tackle the city's crime problem: Send more social workers to crime scenes. Johnson, a staunch progressive, pointed to instances where police killed black men as evidence to say more police officers are not the solution. "This is really about making sure that people understand the context of the level of frustration when you see that type of brutalization over and over again, it can be discouraging," Johnson explained. "We're working to double the amount of young people we hire, not just for summer jobs, but for year-round positions," he continued. "We've been pushing this ordinance called 'Treatment, Not Trauma.'

Chi-Congo will also send witch doctors and medicine men to crime scenes. They will be there to cast spells on the evil spirits. A little voodoo should also be factored into the mix. That seems to be what the natives want.

Put it to practice. It's possible in certain less volatile situations, it may prevent escalating that might occur with a police presence. I grew up there, have family there and it's a mess. Whatever they been doin' ain't working. Police do honorable, incredible, difficult work in the Augean stables, but they are not Hercules.

How many of these magic social workers are going to last a year in these suicidal "year-round positions?" Given that the Chicago Police Department has been neutered completely, all they need to do now is to take off their blue uniforms and they can be the new squad of social workers. Brandon is working on that like the other Brandon is working on the economy. Results will be similar.

Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD) is threatening legal action against the Biden Administration over proposed Title IX changes, which protects women's opportunities in sports. The U.S. Department of Education proposes a rule allowing biological males to compete on female sports teams. "South Dakota will not allow this to stand. We will lead. We will defend our laws. Only girls will play girls’ sports,” Noem tweeted. “President Biden, we’ll see you in Court.”

The case against Donald Trump brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is melting faster than the Wicked Witch of the West. The DA is keeping everyone in the dark about exactly what individual crime Bragg will try Trump on. This is sort of important because, without a predicate crime, there’s nothing to convict Trump of doing anything illegal. Bragg has taken that crime and sliced it into 34 parts — a prosecutorial trick designed to make sure the jury convicts Trump of something — anything — to justify charging a former president with felonies. And if Bragg wants to try Trump for violating federal campaign finance laws

Here is yet another story about a government using eminent domain to steal property from its citizens. In this case, the state of Tennessee is seeking to seize land from farmers in order to benefit a private business. About a year ago, Ford Motor Company began building an electric truck plant in BlueOval City, a rural area of west Tennessee. It was met with optimism from the community at the prospect of having new jobs for residents. The government was enthused about the idea of having another source of tax revenue and made generous offers to the company to establish its plant in the state.

PROLOGUE: THE INFORMATION WAR In 1950, Sen. Joseph McCarthy claimed that he had proof of a communist spy ring operating inside the government. Overnight, the explosive accusations blew up in the national press, but the details kept changing. Initially, McCarthy said he had a list with the names of 205 communists in the State Department; the next day he revised it to 57. Since he kept the list a secret, the inconsistencies were beside the point. The point was the power of the accusation, which made McCarthy’s name synonymous with the politics of the era.
