Cuts Are Coming to Social Security and

Social Security and Medicare are on an “unsustainable course” and will run out of funds by 2037. That’s the conclusion reached by the General Accountability Office (GAO) and the Social Security Administration. There is no saving these programs without massive changes. And demagoguing the issue, as Joe Biden and the Democrats are doing, only delays the day of reckoning. To pretend these programs don’t need intervention now — right now — is to play with dynamite. The sooner we can get started, the less pain will be inflicted on senior citizens. Pain there will be. In order to put these programs on the path to long-term viability, it will take political courage

Heard this during the Clinton years. SS was going to go broke in 2023, or whenever. I suggest you stop sending it to illegal aliens. That should extend it a lot longer than 2037.

Lower the rate but apply it higher up the income brackets. Why not All income? Would help encourage entry level employment too, as it would be a break for small business payrolls.

For decades they have been giving SS to those who never paid anything into it. They also have been using the money that should have been designated for retirement on their pet projects, like war and foreign aid. The deep state elites want SS to collapse and to have citizens dependent on the generosity of their government to survive. They want medicare to end and eliminate hundreds of thousands of useless eaters, as the elderly die off from lack of medical care.

I understand everybody and their dog are getting disability. Put the healthy ones back to work and paying taxes. With a million people not working and paying taxes and the open southern border giving us RIGHT NOW 5 million more to take care of, I wouldn't doubt they will be coming after our benefits AND investments. Two more years and 5 million more illegals? Stop funding the illegals and the NGOs and the sanctuary cities to take care of them. Electeds will not have to worry, they will always have income and a fat retirement on us.

Its simple. Congress gives away more than it taxes…and kicks the debt can down the road to our children. We know that the correcting this means higher taxes and or lower benefits, and that distributing these is painful. It really is time for some tough love. Our congress critters need to be threatened with unemployment if they do not act…staring with holding the line on the debt ceiling

Can’t the $2,500 saved each year from Obamacare by Americans be placed into the fictitious Social Security Trust? And the $500 per year savings each year by switching to Biden’s all electric kitchen? And the thousands of dollars we’re supposed to save each year from electric cars and green energy to heat and cool our homes? Since these are “savings”, albeit illusionary, it won’t cost us anything. Social Security has always been the largest Ponzi scheme ever thanks to FDR and Democrats. Fixing this Democrat vote buying scheme will mean higher income taxes on everyone, including beneficiaries. Perhaps it’s time to encourage smoking.

Socialist security should have never been started to begin with. From what I've read it was started for widows to keep their houses. Of course over the years it was expanded. Thanks FDR. Cut taxes and let people save money for their own retirement (or not). If someone's that irresponsible not to take care of their own retirement, there's a nice bridge overpass to live under.

Financial disaster awaits because of social security and medicare. This is like a classic Greek tragedy where the protagonist knows what will happen, the audience knows what will happen and an off-stage chorus...straight thinking media commentators...chant monotonous advice, ignored, of course. The guys in congress are more interested in two thousand dollars suits, double martinis, "fact finding" trips to Paris, and reelection than actually doing something of value. Conservative Democrats and non-RINO Republicans are now as rare as stamps needing tongue licking. You still might find a few at the back of a dusty junk drawer hiding under a screwdriver or a small plastic part that once fit something...god knows what.

But first, cut the billions to Ukraine, the Palestinians, to Africa, half the government employees not needed or wanted, the federal salaries 50% more than the private sector, the funding for the electric vehicles when the vehicles they have are still driveable, the new FBI HQ, all the Democrat slush funding, all the departments not needed like the CDC, Education Dept, IRS, all the DOJ working on Trump and American citizens. Go cut that, and let's look at the numbers again.

The program has no real separate funds anyway. It has been part of general spending and has been paying out more than it takes on for years now, which means it's already broke and adding to the deficit. So what difference does it make?

One thing that MUST be done is to keep all the alphabet agencies busy making more rules and regulations so businesses in the U.S. aren't able to find a way around them to produce products to sell so we can pay off any debt. We absolutely have to keep American industry down so if we actually need a physical produce, we have to borrow money to buy it from China or elsewhere. Thank goodness Biden got into office to destroy the things Trump had accomplished. Otherwise this country and many of us citizens would actually be able to pay our bills, and build actual physical products rather than their "intellectual" products that are used to make products in China and give them wealth.

Ive been hearing this stuff since Nixon’s first term. Then Clinton vetoed his own “Blue Ribbon” panel’s recommendations for reform, the panel led by that sleaze ball Democrat, John Breaux, senator from Louisiana because he wanted to keep it as a political football. He could always demonize Republicans with it. Clinton also started taxing SS income as well, in case you forgot. SS funds were also separated from the budget until another lefty liberal president, LBJ, needed money for “guns and butter” to fight the Vietnam War.

No good solution. It was started to help the destitute elderly and morphed into this massive entitlement today. The amount of income taxed will have to be increased but this is not a good solution since it will also strain the employer that has to match it. You could also have a real crackdown on all the disability cheaters but this is unlikely since the Dems would claim it unfairly harms minorities, etc. The other is large cutbacks in SS checks. That is unlikely to even be mentioned, much less seriously considered. The only other choice would be raising the tax from 6.2% to a lot higher percentage, hurting both employee and employer. Nothing much will happen at all unless Repubs take the Senate and WH. Without that, SS changes will be delayed until it and this country are truly bankrupt.

Government workers don't care, they already receive a very nice pension. Most shouldn't receive any SS payments, particularly those who make over $60K pension (will be a very large number). They should have raised the early withdraw from 62 to 64 when they raised the full retirement age from 65 to 67. They will raise the income threshold to help sustain the program, but don't fool yourself, nearly everyone exhausts their entire contribution within 5-7 years, as it's only principle, and has NEVER been invested.

This is where "pay to play" comes in. If you haven't paid in, you get no money. SSI has been a scam and people who can work, have been given "disability." When SS started, it was 1 worker to 1 recipient. Now, it's something like 1 worker to 5 recipients plus the largest number of unemployed people, ages 18-34 ever seen. No wonder this thing is upside down.

Please pardon second post. But recall that W had sought to privatize the social security system in 2002 or so. It was to be converted to a 401k/IRA-like system at the time where each individual would control his own account and how his own money would be invested. But the dims made it clear that they would have no part of it and the proposal died dead on arrival.

SS is cut every year by not giving a COLA that matches the real increase of cost of living/inflation. And then some years, many years in fact, there isn't any COLA at all. Once you start SS you get effectively less every year.

COVID provided a great opportunity for a lot of people to apply for disability because they weren't working. Disability is evidently not that hard to get. One of my husband's relatives spent his whole adult life on disability because of a back injury, but got a job as soon as he was 65. Everytime I see one of the commercials related to "long Covid", I suspect a disability attorney is waiting by the phone.

SS/Medicare is the biggest Ponzi scheme ever, and like all of them, SS/Medicare will run out of suckers - even if they are forced at gunpoint to play the game. I say the sooner he better, get it over with. The longer the inevitable is delayed with phony accounting gimmicks, trying to add new suckers through illegal alien invasion, etc., the more catastrophic the consequences. It's bad enough to force younger generations through our unconscionably evil government schools, but they need to be released from Chinese debt slavery - now. Declare bankruptcy, shut them down.

The Democrat War on Election Integrity Continues 3 replies

Until a couple of decades ago, voting in the United States was a straightforward exercise that required registered voters to appear at local polling places on Election Day and cast their ballots in person. A small number were permitted to vote absentee if they were stationed overseas in the military or could show that they were otherwise unable to get to the polls. This system, with minor variations, was used in all 50 states and revealed the winners of most elections with alacrity. Though not perfect, it was generally efficient, secure, and trusted by the vast majority of voters.

We now have the most authoritative estimate of the value provided by wearing masks during the pandemic: approximately zero. The most rigorous and extensive review of the scientific literature concludes that neither surgical masks nor N95 masks have been shown to make a difference in reducing the spread of Covid-19 and other respiratory illnesses. This verdict ought to be the death knell for mask mandates, but that would require the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the rest of the public-health establishment to forsake “the science”—and unfortunately, these leaders and their acolytes in the media seem as determined as ever to ignore actual science.

There's been a lot of talk among Republicans about the effect a big primary field might have on the 2024 presidential nomination race. The short version is that a big field is thought to benefit former President Donald Trump, who, as in 2016, would not have to win a majority of votes to win — a plurality, and not even a big one, would be enough. On the other hand, a small field, especially a one-on-one matchup with another candidate, say Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), might allow the challenger to defeat Trump. Given that, there are Republican activists in the early voting states who are trying to keep the field small.

Essentially, it involves relentlessly repeating a colossal lie until the public eventually comes to believe it.
