The global soccer players’ union, FIFPRO, said it is “shocked and sickened” by reports that Iranian soccer player Amir Nasr-Azadani faces the possibility of execution “after campaigning for women’s rights and basic freedom in his country.” “We stand in solidarity with Amir and call for the immediate removal of his punishment,” FIFPRO said in a statement posted on Twitter on Monday. Nasr-Azadani has been accused of being a member of an “armed group” that was involved in the death of three security officers during protests in the city of Esfahan in central Iran, said the city’s chief justice Asadullah Jafari, according to state news agency IRNA on Sunday.

Where has this union been? Iran has been torturing and executing thousands upon thousands for the last 40 plus years - ever since Jimmah Carter backed the insane mullahs over the Shah. I guess that it only matters to them now that one of their own is in danger. Shameful.

Honestly, both sides want him dead. The Mullahs don't want a popular sports figure to win the hearts of the peasants for women's rights and other "evil" western values. The protestors need him to be a martyr for their cause. This is not going to end well for him!!!

Wannabe Speaker of the House Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) has a narrowing path to achieve his goal, largely because the opposition to him is adamant that he not ascend to the speakership. At least seven members have indicated they will not vote for McCarthy under any circumstances. And that sets the stage for a once-in-a-century floor fight that is likely to leave the Republican majority in the House in disarray and the Democrats grinning from ear to ear. It’s even remotely possible that a Democrat could squeak into the speaker’s chair. It’s highly unlikely, but if the vote for speaker goes on long enough, a few moderate Republicans might say, “to hell

John Griffin, now 45, was busted by the FBI last year after luring a woman—and her young daughter—to his Vermont vacation home so that he could “train” the child to be sexually submissive to men. On Monday, the former CNN producer pled guilty to using interstate commerce for the enticement of a minor as part of a plea deal. Two remaining counts of enticement of a minor were dropped. Griffin used the messaging apps “Google Hangout” and “Kik” to attempt to persuade mothers to bring their daughters to him for “sexual training,” going so far as to say that a “woman is a woman regardless of her age.” Griffin approached several women
