Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) stated Monday he will consider leaving the Democrat Party ahead of a heated 2024 Senate reelection bid.
“I’ll look at all of these things. I’ve always looked all [sic] these things but I have no intention of doing anything right now,” Manchin commented, according to the Hill. Manchin left open the possibility he might follow Sen. Kyrsten Sinema’s (I-AZ) decision to leave the Democrat Party ahead of his election but said that decision will come in the future. “Whether I do something later, I can’t tell you what the future’s going to bring. I can only tell you where I am

Manchin screwed himself when he caved to Biden and screwed the people who voted for him in his home state. Unless he is a complete fool he had to know Schumer would not honor any backdoor promises he made to him just to get his vote for that rediculous bill. Even if he does follow in Sinema's footsteps it won't do him any good, because he has lost the trust of his voters. Once a traitor always a traitor.

We know what the future is going to bring. Don't even think about running as a republican, Manchin, after you allowed your people to spend trillions of our tax dollars on garbage legislation because you might get a piece of the action. We already have our limit of RINOs. You and the other Joe need to retire now.

Manchin loves the attention he receives by riding the fence and pretending he might change party affiliation. But he won't. He represents a state without a lot of financial power or resources relative to other more populous or wealthy constituencies. He enjoys more importance as a Dem and isn't really going to change. But like the boy who cried 'wolf', one cannot play that game forever.

Yeah whatever Joe, who cares. We all know how you’re going to vote anyways. Same with Sinema.
While you’re at it, why don’t you take Miss Lindsey, Pierre DeFecto and a few others who consistently vote democrat anyways, with you.

No matter what he decides, dont trust him. He is torn between whats right and what he is pressured to do. Pressure usually wins out.

Just a thought to fellow LDotters: Do we really want Joe Manchin in our party even if it gives us control of the Senate? He will join Pierre Delicto, Lisa Murkowski, Mitch McConnell (along with all the undertakers who stand behind him at any microphone) and that woman from Maine plus a multitude of RINOs to make any actual conservative President's life miserable. Leave him in West Virginia; those good old boys know how to deal with faithless legislators.

Joe, as a resident of the Mountain State, I want to report to you that you are not spoken of kindly in the hills and hollers of West Virginia. You were a good governor, and when you were appointed to replace the late Senator Robert C. Byrd we were supportive of that.
But, you went to DC and turned into a swamp creature, letting Chuck Schumer bend you over the fallen tree trunk and do you like the poor fellow in Deliverance as you voted to add trillions to the debt of our kids, grandkids, and yet to be born family members. You were returned to your senate seat with 49% of the vote in a three candidate election four years ago and your snake-handling antics since then have continued to erode your image.
Frankly, you are major disappointment to us. I can't think of anything you can do at this point to improve your standing in West Virginia except to resign from the US Senate so our governor can appoint a republican to replace you. Please do it soon.

In the post-Robert KKK Byrd world, WV would be FAR better off to elect only MAGA Republicans as their public servants. Starting with Barack Hussein Obama, the Demonrats have done everything in their power to utterly destroy the American Coal Industry. Nothing like the Demonrats when it comes to DESTRUCTION, oh wait, except for Islam and Satan.

I apologize for the second post, but I feel it is important to comment of Poster # 18's advice that West Virginia needs to elect only MAGA republicans. West Virginia has become a bright red state. Republicans have a solid control in both the State Senate and the House of Delegates. The governor is a republican. In BOTH of his presidential campaigns, Donald Trump carried the state with 68% of the vote and in BOTH of those elections all 55 counties were red. In DC, West Virginia's congressional representation is totally republican, as is their other senator.
Manchin hurt himself by joining Nancy Pelosi's spiteful impeachment movement after Donald Trump left office Such a vote to impeach under those circumstances caused Mountain State voters to view Manchin's vote as classless.

As a recovering TV news anchor, I can tell you that being in the spotlight is addictive, in some cases obsessive, and it's very plain to see that Manchin has a massive, serious case of spotlight addiction. Now days, action is worth ten million words.

The Manchin family is a corrupt, well connected democrat family. Joe’s daughter committed gross academic fraud in a scandal that took down the President and other officials at WVU. The former WVU president is a close family friend of the Manchins.

Hong Kong Mitch is, under the cover of darkness, going to convince manchin not to do what he wants to do
... because ... that would make him Majority Leader, which would mean he'd have to do something, which he doesn't want to do ie: --- work on legislation and other non-important things he was sent to D.C. to do
the Republican party doesn't need an opposition party in D.C. - they screw things up, very well indeed, without any help from the demcommies, on their own sometimes it's difficult to try to ferret out the real enemies to our country.

Manchin is a dead man walking. He was barely re-elected by a plurality in 2018 and Trump won his state by a landslide in 2020. He could have cut a deal with McConnell to switch parties and give control of the Senate to Republicans in 2021. He would have been a far leftwing RINO, but McConnell seems to like those. Now he has nothing to offer and it is just a question of whether Manchin is hated more by democrats or Republicans. If Manchin remains a democrat he will likely be primaried out. If he switches to Republican he will definitely be primaried out. If he switches to independent he will come in third in a three party race. He cannot even get a job as a talking head on CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, etc.

Folks, Manchin is not a conservative. He's an opportunist. He holds out long enough to get whatever cut he's going for at the moment then caves like McConnell and McCarthy. He's not changing his votes because the democrats put too much feed in his trough.

Joe knows he's dead meat in the Democrat primary and/or general election in 2024. Maybe he can pull off the Murkowski/Sinema trick and run as an independent and pull enough moderate Democrat and Republican votes to win, but more likely elect a liberal Democrat.
My bet is he retires from the Senate. His value to switching to the GOP died with the Georgia runoff election going to the Democrats.

Joe you just don't get it...the Democraps HATE YOU. Time for you to roll it up really tight and give it back to them. If you Switch to Republican they lose their majority and how beautiful that will be! Consider it payback for the knife in your back.

If he were serious about this, he'd have just done it rather than tease it. It's the best signal so far that he hasn't the sense to retire; he's trying on the sheep's clothing for 2024.

Avoid the rush and do it now. IF you and Sinema would both declare yourselves independent and that yall are going to caucus with independents, schemer would no longer have a majority, and the two of you could run the senate yourselves.
