Hundreds of workers are expected to be laid off when automaker Stellantis closes an assembly plant in northern Illinois early next year, citing the challenge of rising costs of electric vehicle production. The company, which employs about 1,350 workers at the plant in Belvidere, Illinois, said the action will result in indefinite layoffs and it may not resume operations as it considers other options.  Stellantis said the industry 'has been adversely affected by a multitude of factors like the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the global microchip shortage, but the most impactful challenge is the increasing cost related to the electrification of the automotive market.'

And yet another small American town disappears. Thank you, globalists. Sales of the Jeep model made in the Belvidere plant have plummeted over the last few years - anyone who now buys one 'made in Mexico' is a partner in the destruction of our middle class.

I bougt, new, a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, in 1998. It was comfortable, good in snow, not bad on gasoline mileage. At about 50,000 miles, the rearend began to growl, grew progressivel worse, had it replaced at 100,000, learned lter tht this is a common problem w9th that brand. at 120,000, seprentine belt broke while driving on the interstate near Cleveland, Ohio. It turned out that the air conditioner compressor froze up, causing the belt to snap. I donated the vehicle at 140,000 miles to a church camp. The director, years later, told me they drove it for another 110000 miles unti it stopped running, and they didn't put any money into the vehicle, except for oil changes. (God may have intervened.) about the time I donated the vehicle. I read a report in anold Consumer Reports magazine, and they recommended against buying auto extended warranties except on two brands - Mercedes and Jeep.

What are these car company’s going to do with all these government subsidized EV’s that nobody is going to buy? My 1985 Chevy S10 Blazer is still running fine. Throw a new battery in her every 5 years or so, change her oil, filter and she’s good to go. Meanwhile, you best park your self igniting EV outside away from your house lest you see everything you have go up in smoke. EVs are all part of the plan to bankrupt and destroy America.

Our 1999 Grand Cherokee is still on the road, with 250k plus miles. Had the rear end rebuilt some years ago, common issue, cost about 600 bucks. Our son had a 2001 that didn't fare so well, that was the stretch with the bad head castings. Still, when compared to "new" cars, I would go for used in an instant. All the EV talk is a warning, along with digital currency. The elites really are planning a squeeze play.

My 2012 Grand Cherokee was like the energizer bunny. It just kept going and going. In the eight years I owned it, I put 183,000 miles on it, and all I did was change the oil every 5000 miles. I put a new belt on it at 94,000 miles even though the dealer said it didn't need it. At 183,000 miles, the original brakes and rotors were still on the vehicle, and they were still in good shape. I put new tires on it twice. That Cherokee spoiled me. I traded it in because I had 183,000 miles on it, and I could see that at some point major work would need to be done to it. Several neighbors brought Grand Cherokees a couple of years after I bought mine, and they had nothing but problems with them. One had so many problems, the lemon law was applied to it, and the dealer took the car back. I blame the fact that after 2012, Chrysler and Fiat merged and many of the jeeps after that had Fiat manufactured parts.

Why would a foreign controlled corporation like Stellantis give a hoot about high cost American workers when they can simply move their operation to Mexico and hire very much lower cost Mexican workers? I think I remember when Obama years ago came out with a recommendation that Americans should be happy driving around in Fiat 500 type automobiles.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is fast emerging as a top 2024 presidential contender capable of beating both Donald Trump and President Joe Biden, an early election poll suggested on Tuesday.  The new USA Today/Suffolk University survey shows that a majority of GOP voters want Trump to pass the torch to the 44-year-old Republican governor - despite having declared his own third White House campaign last month. And while the ex-president trails Biden in a theoretical head-to-head rematch, DeSantis holds a narrow lead over the Democrat of about four points.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) visited the U.S.-Mexico border on Monday and blamed Republicans for the ongoing crisis there, despite the fact that the ongoing influx is a reaction to President Joe Biden’s policies. Millions of migrants have poured across the border since Biden was elected president, many of them traveling from around the world to take advantage of the Democrats’ deliberately lax policies. Earlier this week, 1,000 migrants crossed the Rio Grande at El Paso in one night, an unprecedented number. Biden, who told migrants to “surge” to the border during his campaign in 2019, halted President Donald Trump’s border wall project upon taking office,
