“This is a huge victory for Moscow over Washington,” former national security director John Bolton declared this morning on CBS. “It endangers other Americans in the future, who can be grabbed and used by bargaining chips,” he said of the swap of Brittney Griner for Viktor Bout, one of the world’s most dangerous men before his arrest and conviction.
Bolton also revealed in this clip that the Trump administration had an offer to trade Paul Whelan for Bout two years ago. They passed, and as Bolton says, “for very good reasons” (via Caleb Howe at Mediaite):

Fade back several years ago when the Obama administration traded 5 known terrorists from Gitmo for Bergdawl. And guess what the terrorists resumed their normal trade. And Bergdawl was a deserter and a coward. American got screwed again by the same minions.

Be advised, there is nothing that the Biden administration and democrats won’t do to destroy the Republic! Anyone who believes otherwise is disconnected from reality and/or willfully blind to the obvious!
Soon, there will be no turning back from this destructive behavior and the republic will be no more!

It was a bad swap. Putin is likely to send Bout to the USA southern border so he can infiltrate and run across the border and disappear (thanks to Joey). That way he can pull together all the terrorists Joey allowed to cross the border unmolested and create havoc in the USA.

Even some democrats have heartburn over this deal. If they are looking for a reason to dump Joe for 2024, there are many, but this takes the cake. Adios Joey.

Please excuse the follow-up reply. What Poster 10 said is true. This prisoner exchange was bought with pallets of U.S. cash.

#11, and I am sure that 10% of those pallets of cash was kicked back to a Biden account in the Caymans.

FTA: "John Bolton: Well, I really can’t get into specifics, but I’ll just note that Paul Whelan, who was likewise set up by the Russians back in late 2018, so..."
Likewise? Griner was set up? She knowingly and willingly carried a banned substance into a foreign country (where it was banned,) and to the best of my knowledge, neither she nor anyone else claims that the THC was planted on her.
If she was set up it was here where we allowed her to believe that she had some special status where the rules that apply to the little people do not apply to her high exalted blue chip cook kids club level.

Said in my best Obama voice, "Now listen never underestimate Joe's ability to fruck things up." Truest words ever spoken by one of the most dishonest, corrupt presidents in modern history. He himself who made a similar stupid trade of 5 terrorist skunk bags for 1 deserting grubworm.

“We…” Pfft. In 2018 President Trump would have said no to any trade involving Bout. Bolton wouldn’t have had anything to do with it other than to nod his approval, about which PDJT would undoubtedly have not given a damn.

"where they are primary targets for this type of unlawful detention"
Menendez is disoriented, apparently thinking Griner was being detained in the USA, where Soros-funded District Attorneys have made release of criminals the norm. Griner should never have gone to Russia, and certainly not with drugs that are illegal there. Griner's detention seems to have been legal under Russian law, which does not conform to OUR law.

Who is John Bolton, and why does his opinion merit publication?

Bolton’s decline in “popularity” aside, the salient point bears emphasizing: We should never have released Bout for anyone. Nor the Taliban 5, nor the $1.4 Billion on pallets. Bad trades should not happen under any circumstances. So, absolutely, we want Whelan free, but not at the cost of Bout’s release. Don’t negotiate with terrorists; don’t set terrorists free once you’ve captured them; don’t cave to the likes of Putin. Truth is still true even if you no longer like the neocon who says it. Trump was right to keep Bout in 2018, and whoever pulls Biden’s strings was wrong this week. That’s the undeniable truth that overshadows every argument for why we’d like Whelan released before Griner. By the way, lol #11. And may God bless the USA.
