Berlin - Germany on Monday walked back its promise to swiftly raise defense spending to at least 2 percent of its economic output — breaching the key commitment made days after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine to become a more serious military force.
Berlin also sought to play down internal warnings about delays to a flagship procurement of new fighter jets.
During a government press conference, Chief Spokesperson Steffen Hebestreit scaled down expectations for Germany’s defense spending, telling journalists that the 2 percent target would be missed not only this year, but also likely next year: “It’s still open whether that [goal] will be achieved” in 2023, Hebestreit said, adding that his “cautious

Gee. Nobody expected that, huh. But I'm sure Joe Biden will get the Germans back up to their historic 0.0361%.

Germany needs to concentrate on drilling and digging for energy. They should restart all of their nuke energy plants, build a bunch more, and pray the next Ice Age is not too soon.
France is building 10 to 15 MORE nuke plants. 70% of their electricity already comes from nuke power. It is very safe when Western Civilization runs it. I cannot recommend too much the HBO series Chernobyl. It is still available to stream. I don't know how it avoided the politically correct authorities, but it perfectly demonstrates the insanity of Socialism, Communism, etc. The same type of 'scientists' are running amok spreading lies about Covid, Climate, etc. The few very brave real scientists are amazing.

If the members of NATO don't think it is important to defend themselves - why should we? Their economies are in no trivial manner propped up by US military spending stationing troops in Europe. Again, why should we bother if they won't?

I´ve encountered some very nice Germans over the years - a half dozen or so - but the vast majority are smug, incredibly rude, humorless, and downright creepy. I visited Germany once - never again. I was expecting fun-loving Bavarians when I visited, and I´ve never encountered as awful a bunch. I´m friendly by nature, but I never managed to raise a even a friendly smile, with two or three exceptions.
Having nearly ruined Western Civilization, twice, they now renege on their own promise to do right, for once. The richest country in Europe can´t be bothered to contribute a mere 2% of GDP, even in light of Russia´s invasion of Ukraine. They make good cars, and that´s about it.

In a way, I don't blame them but for different reasons. They're stuck supporting millions of useless muslims while we're shipping billions of dollars over to Ukraine because......um, exactly WHY is beyond me. That little shyster over there is nothing but a scam artist now worth millions of dollars and you can bet the lefties here have gotten many kickbacks. Yes, that's what I really think.

This ought to be seen as signaling the end of NATO. It ought to be seen as one more slap at the US, which provides the bulk of "defense" to the Euros from that mythical threatening Russian bear.
I suggest reading Washington's Farewell Address...after 75 years it is time to end this "Leader of the Free World" charade in Europe. We owe them nothing at this point. They are re-built and self-sufficient. And, no, the Germans are not going to goosestep to Moscow or Paris again. Time to let Europe be Europe again.

The Russian-paid moles in the German government are successfully clogging up all the gears to prevent any significant action towards Germany redeveloping their military.

Well, what did you expect of the German politicians?
Without President Trump using a cattle prod on their backsides, they easily slid back to their lazy ways.
I think we should remove all of our military people from Germany, and either move those people to countries that support their own defense, such as Poland, or bring them back to the USA.
Stop spending American Taxpayers money in Germany.
