Donald Trump Jr. called out Republicans who are against former President Donald Trump’s choice for the next House Speaker, GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), and said those Republicans are “in effect empowering those who impeached Donald Trump.”
Trump Jr.’s remarks come amid concerns from top conservatives about a “doomsday scenario” where House Democrats would undercut GOP power by working with certain Republicans to oppose McCarthy and install a more moderate Speaker.
Although McCarthy overcame a challenge from Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) and received the House Republican nomination for Speaker of the House by a margin of 188 to 31 votes,

Like it or not, the vast majority of House Republicans are happy with the swamp as is and don’t want to rock the boat.....they also don’t want to get anything done that the people want done. They will continue to preen, strut and bluster but that’s about it...... just more Kabuki Theater. Pass the popcorn please.

So now the Trump family is against the MAGA supporters who have been unwavering in their support for him? I guess Gaetz and MTG are now the enemy.

I, for one, am tired of eating s^*t sandwiches fed to us by the GOP-e. It's time for a third party, and before someone lectures me about how it's a losing proposition to form a third party, ask yourselves how it is that you call what's happening "winning"?

Kevin McCarthy is weak; there are better men than McCarthy to fill the Speaker's chair. And I hope that Mike Lindell is chosen to be Chairman of the RNC. It is obvious that he knows how to run a successful business, and politics is a business. Besides Lindell is without guile which is a rarity in politics or life, especially nowadays. Also, Mike puts his trust in God to be his mentor. He would remake the RNC because he's someone who knows who he wants to have on his team.

A Trump, picking unqualified people to fill important positions in government. Who would have imagined such a thing? Following in dads footsteps, I guess.

The salient point here is that those who oppose McCarthy are going to get crap committee assignments where Representatives will not get support for bills they introduce.
Its the "tyranny of the majority" in full force and its been that way for long. long time!
This is going to create disunity in the "republican party" which is as corrupt as the demonrat socialist Marxists EXCEPT when a 'republican" is guilty of something, they are nailed to the wall--
Once elected, VERY FEW of them do anything to advance bedrock Republican principles of governance except for calling their offices to cut through red tape on veteran's affairs and the like.
Those who on happenstance get elected and want to be like Jimmy Stewart in Frank Capra's "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" get corrupted to just "go along" with all the corruption. Once elected, DC is like a proverbial "gravy train" for incumbents who NEVER leave unless they die in office, get a better offer for more money somewhere else, or in the case of republican get caught in a scandal. As Rush Limbaugh often said, scandals don't hurt Dems, but rather since they face no prosecution, it becomes a "resume enhancement".
Hitlery Clinton once was quoted as saying that "if she goes down then she will take half of Washington with her" and she has been doing her damnndest to take out Mr. Trump as if it was the only mission in life more important than money and power of incumbency.
The few who "boneheads" may be as right as right can be, but they simply do not have the votes to keep RINO McCarthy out. Not much good comes from California......in either party.

Seems to be that Biggs, Gaetz, etc are working to gain something from the future majority leader. They want something in exchange for their support and they'll likely get it. If they are stupid enough to allow the Dems to gain the upper hand in the leadership decision, they are exactly as DJT Jr says. I don't think that's what is going on.

What is that old saw about snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory? It seems to be the modus operandi of the Republican party. God help us, Ronna Romney McDaniel and Mitch McConnell certainly won't.

When January 3 rolls around, and there is a public vote for Speaker, McCarthy will win. Who will be nominated as a bi-partisan third-way alternative by this gaggle? The vote for Speaker is a roll call vote that requires each voting member to stand and announce his vote. At least three of the five "geniuses" will vote for McCarthy after the Whip discusses their choices, and Gaetz will be the fool if he holds out...or folds. Withholding his vote with "Present" won't carry, either. "Present" votes aren't counted and lessen the majority number. The alternative is who? FPDT? Keep dreaming. Funny how people demand party unity, then encourage this sort of intra-party gamesmanship.

14,
Unfortunately, we are no longer a 2 party system. If that were true we would likely have real choices but effectively we don't with the uni-party. What we have are Democrats and those pretending to be something else. Present leadership will never allow any true conservatives to rise up as they are happy with the status quo. I am a staunch believer in God, County and Freedom and I can assure you that the Republican party does not share my values nor will ever get my vote again.

So, 31 Republicans do not want McCarthy to be Speaker. Who do they want instead? Instead of pitching temper tantrums, they need to come up with an alternative. They created this stalemate; they need to work to resolve it.
So far, they have been incapable of leading. They refuse to follow. They have only been getting in the way. And, they seem to be obvious to the damage they are causing.

Anyone of us could be a better speaker than McCarthy has been. It's not that we can't necessarily name someone else, it's the fact that we know what we're getting with McCarthy. What, do you think he's been holding out on us, and he's really going to get something done this time? That's foolish thinking. Or, should we just get dragged by the uniparty again and be quiet about it. I suspect some of my fellow Ldotters don't agree with me pushing dragging, but we get freakin dragged all the time by the people we work to get elected. We hang on to the slightest bit of hope because we think we're not smart enough to have faith in what we believe without complete evidence. We keep getting played. Some people might like it that way, but I will never accept it again. Bush and Cheney played us, McCarthy and McConnell don't know how to do anything but play us, and MTG and Don Jr. are playing us. They have gotten too cozy with the con artists, so maybe it's personal for them. They like Kevin and he's helped them out here and there. Business is business and personal is personal. This is exhausting and annoying. Stop peeing on us and telling us it's raining.

First: not sure how DT Jr thinks they can build a power coalition with congressional leaders who denied $$ funding to, support for or actively worked against MAGA candidates in the last election. Big words/promises before an election, weakness, excuses and inaction after the win. We've seen it too many times. Jesus Christ said, "By their fruits (actions), you will know them." If actions speak louder than words, we already know who these politicans are and what they truly believe. Saying ain't doing.

Does it make one bit of difference difference these days who the Speaker is? The Uniparty runs it all. Such a waste of time arguing over what color the drapes should be. And, to those braying about how awful a third party would be, I say bring it. Can’t be any worse and might force establishment Republicans to recalibrate who they are, not from any sense of right or wrong, but for pure self-interest. They count on us rubes to fall in line, come election time. I’m over it, as are millions like me. Until Republicans either play the game the way the democrats do, or they destroy the democrats completely, it’s all just window dressing.

I like the idea of a 3rd party. For generations we have been stuck with the lesser of two evils, yet we wonder why we still get evil. Yes, Ross Perot got us the Klintons. Maybe that was better than another Bush? Could we have endured another pointless war? Or two? I was upset at the time, but in retrospect Mr New World Order didnt do us any favors.
